just got one - waiting to get it in the water. It's a Castaway model. The front has a hatch that gets into the hull and behind the seat is another hole into the hull where a small dry bag seats into the hole. Some of the opinions I've read online say it isn't a great boat as it takes on water through that front hatch, but it also sounds like those are folks spending $1,000 on kayaks vs. $300-400. Also - I don't see me going out where waves are continuously crashing over the front.
I purchased the same kayak in the spring 0f 2009. It's great. I wanted a sit on top kayak so I wouldn't have to learn how to roll the boat. The boat is very stable. This video pretty well says it all.
For some strange reason, Pelican doesn't seem to have the same model for sale this year.
