Short History lesson. Lord Baden Powell was a British Military Officer and wrote the on Scouting (known as "spying" now) for his fellow solders. Then Wrote the book Scouting for Boys, to teach them to be better solders when they were of age. This is why Eagle Scouts come out of military basic train at a higher pay grade then the others. A lot of Scoutmasters Have lose site of this goal but Nothing has changed about their training except the wording. Better solders, better community.

This is a volluntary program offered in many cities around the country to allow people usually from the ages of 14-21 to see what a career in law enforcement is like. Joining a program such as this does NOT mean that you have to become an officer later on. Read the hats and shirts at 0:50, EXPLORERS, not boyscouts. The New York Times titled the article whatever they thought would sell more. Again, this is just based on what 'I' know...

This is a vary productive program........read the article first then watch the video. The moron who made this video has no clue about the program. I used to be a border patrol explorer, and it was a great program! I am now a successful citizen in life instead of turning to drugs and crime like alot of my friends did.
I wish people would understand stuff before they make some stupid movie about how the government is brainwashing our kids.

The Department of "Homeland" Security is targeting half the US population as extremists so they can expand the Global "War On Terror" and bring it right into the "homeland".
People who write and think of their country as the "Homeland" tend to think they can redefine torture, ignore international treaties, fund disinformation efforts, launch wars based on hunches and emphasize the power of the executive branch because they consider themselves the only ones who know what's right for the country.

With due respect Sarah - URMOM0504, I too was a scout when I lived in San Antonio and the important message is that Border Patrol is rapidly expanding, so while not every post is involved in "Homeland" Security, we can count on more posts becoming involved in the future. The United States "border" is now defined as being a 100 mile wide strip inland all the way around the country which includes two-thirds of the population. YOUR PAPERS PLEASE!!!

Sarah, the closing, "YOUR PAPERS PLEASE!!!" is just a reference to having checkpoints set up so far inland and that citizens can so randomly be asked for their "papers". The words were not meant to offend you. It is just my way of bringing attention to how ordinary citizens are slowly losing more freedoms and liberties.

ok....still my post has nothing to do with homeland security, nor does most of the epxlorer post thru out this country. We are traning to be city police officers or deputy sheriffs. We are not Boy Scouts in any way shape or form. We just run thru that program so we have a charter. Yes there is border patrol explorers and homeland security but very few. We are NOT training to be terrorist, we are traning to server and protect people just like yourself.

It is not just MY Explorer post, I have trained with other posts around the state and been to competitions and met with other posts, we are trained to know what to expect in the academy and in real life situations for those of us who become Police Officers/ Sheriff deputies/ State Troppers. And how is it Hitlers Youth on steroids? Do you even know about the Hitlers Youth, they were actually sent to fight on the Eastern Front and died in war, Explorers dont see real gun fire. My Father, retired Air Force, once said, "The last thing the government would want is for veterans to really be against it". While studying about the effects "depleted uranium" dust has on biological systems, I ran across this statement, "The side effect of crippling soldiers and putting a use by date on them, is desirable, for governments engaged in tyranny, fear their returned veterans most of all."
I can see where disarming them would also be on the agenda.

Thank you morningmayan, I also provided a link to the federal statute 8 CFR 287.1 (a)(1-3) which defines the border zone for enforcement purposes as encompassing an area within 100 miles of the actual border, with the possibility of extending it further under certain circumstances. This means that the US Border Patrol could conceivably set up random checkpoints asking travelers for a passport in places like Columbus, Ohio; Houston; or anywhere in the state of Florida.
