  • Where are my playlists? I've spent months creating them and now they play one note? What's going on?

  • To the 26 Banditos that dislike this song, I only have one thing to say to you, "Vamos Joses' on his way & he's gonna bust a cap in your ass"!

Sorry, I know I'm a copy-cat, but this comment needs to be re-posted!

  • Back in the 1960s I saw these guys in concert. I was 15 or 16 @ the time and it was my 1st rock concert. Great show!

  • lalalalaa la bamba........i know it aint the same song

  • Brilliant.

  • Love this song.He has a great voice. Before my time, but one of the great classics.

  • The guy without the guitar next to the singer looks like one of the "Melochie" brothers who battled Fonzie and Ritchie on Happy Days lol.

  • Wow nobody made a Robert Kennedy reference? C'mon they're twins!

  • @dirtyrussianspy ..yeah, I did..awhile back..

  • To those who say these songs are no good in 2011, the fact that people still listen in 2011 means the song stands the test of time. Will we still listen to some of the crap pumped out now in 2059?

  • @petersuperstar1 haha yeah our kids will be listen to Friday and feeling like freakin vintage hipsters. the rest of us will be in the bathroom trying not the throw up.

  • @petersuperstar1 I agree with you..the music nowadays will not be around like the classics are...I wouldn't classify the "songs" nowadays as such..

  • Every time I'd hear this guy on the radio I assumed it was Roy Orbison lol

  • @Unicorn41840

All I can do is quote afine scholar whose post on this song is in the # 1 position. "To the 21 bandidos who dislike this song, Vamos, Jose is on his way and he's gonna bust a cap in your ass!!! LMAO!! Grow up kid. One of these days you'll appreciate music from all generations. RIDE SALLY RIDE!

  • @Unicorn41840 You need to shut up and stay inside the crappy closet. Let people who love true music comment here, not trash like you.

  • this song stinks get a better song people its 2011. The songs in this "generation" are not crap so listen to other oh my gosh you guys are like so wack. WOW

  • @Unicorn41840 wow i'm assuming you're a justine beiber fan girl and you liked friday. am i right? because that's what "our generation" is listening to. so if you don't like the song why are you on this page in the first place?

  • All of these border jumpers over here and they couldn't use real Mexicans ?

  • @xcellant Don't forget - this was 1963, back when it was safe to go to Mexico.

  • @xcellant Well those were the days when there were no mexicans and no amesty. illegals were deported. In 1954 there was operation wetback and many mexicans even some who were US citizens were kicked out of the US. That is why there are no mexicans here. Today they can use them because our stupid government gives them benefits instead of deporting them. If they are used in a video, that will give them one more reason to jump the border.

  • @calihartley2010 It's a song. Jesus Christ why does politics have to come up with music???

  • I never knew there was a video to this song. Thanks for posting it!

  • @GoofballLtG

Back in those days, I don't think they even called them videos, not in the sence of what MTV or VH1 would refer to it. Just let's be thankful that a few ppl had the idea to tape these earlier artists for all of us to enjoy MANY years later!!!

  • Great song

  • This song rocks

  • It's just a fun song. It's fun. At the time, it was understood as just that. By everyone. There was very little of this imagined devide. But one doesn't seen that in the media messages today, so no one born afterwards has any idea that it was nearly an inside joke to a lot of people -- especially.

All most adults know now is that there has always been MTV.

  • @sleepingcatt thankfully parents always listened to this type of music and much more when i was growing up in the 80's it made me a huge fan of it all and i can visualize my own things with the music unlike todays crap

  • I wish it was in color!

  • From the TV show, ""Where the Action Is!", produced by Dick Clark!

  • Jay does look like Bobby Kennedy in this video. I love this song. It looks like they were all into the Tequilla though. Just having lots of fun.

  • Oh My! Love the tusseled Hair...MUCHO CALIENTE!!!!

  • I wonder if anyone realizes that if they began a group/band like this, they could make a fortune. Across the generations they love this kind of music.

  • Jay And The Americans were wonderful at the Beacon Theatre.

  • These were great times. Fun. Still a lot of innocence around. Music was fun fun fun. Not worried about much. Not fearing for our lives. Simple. I love that time. It's a shame we had to grow up and then have all h*ll break loose in the world. Too much hatred today. And it's not necessary. Peace to all. Love again.

  • I saw Jay Black the other night. Even has an old guy he can still hit high notes that only dogs and extraterrestrials can hear....Just as good or better than when he was young.

  • Someone else noticed this in these comments, and I agree...when Jay was this age he really looked like Bobby Kennedy.....so dang cute..

  • @DFbighair He surely does look like Bobby Kennedy. I was born in the right era; for a change, Mama and daddy got it right!

  • great oldie....from 1964....the yr I was born

  • Loved 'Where the Action Is"! Mark Lindsay of Paul Revere and the Raiders goofing about.

  • This is the first song my fiancee & I danced too. She was killed in Iraq in January & this is the first time I heard it since than. This song brings me to the good days. I love you Lisa.

  • @aperez515 So sorry to hear of your loss

  • I grew up with this music and I would not have traded that time period for anything

I loved this music then and only appreciate it all the more as time goes by

i got to experience a great childhood

  • How I wish I could have grown up during this time period. Luckily, my parents raised me on music like this, and I will do the same for my children!

  • Jay Black was once sexualy involved with Tab Hunter and Paul Lynde.

  • @BlankfrackCripledFUK GOOD FOR HIM !

  • Comment removed

  • @BlankfrackCripledFUK Got some proof of that?!

  • They were great times. We had trouble in SE Asia then, riots in the U.S., and, if a politician stepped on the wrong toes, it seems there was someone getting shot over it. Outside of the SE Asia conflict, it was a countries growing pains. But gas prices were stable and affordable, food prices were stable and young folks could walk the street and not have to worry what color they were wearing in what "hood". Good times.

  • I love this video because Jay was smiling and playful..and very sexy...he didn't smile alot in the old videos..I loved his cute crooked smile...

  • LOVE THIS SONG

  • I just love Jay and the Americans, grew up listening to them via my dad and his reel to reel player.

  • QUELLE BELLE VOIX..... MERCI POUR LE CLIP

  • one of my favorite song ever

  • Would you believe these guys are still out doing a tour .Saw them at the Little River Casino on March 5. They are still GREAT!!!

  • Jay and the Americans were a great band in the 60's. This looks like the tv show,"Where The Action Is". Jay Black still shows up on PBS oldies shows and sounds as good as he did back then. Thanks for the memories!

  • Yes it was a simpler time. One has to wonder whether we have truly progressed in certain ways with smart phones, IPods, IPads, notebooks. This was a time when we were contented to have a phonograph and listen to 45's. Jay and The Americans were an experience. We listened, we say along. We remembered every word--still do. We rushed home from school to listen to American Bandstand. Our dreams were sweet with hopes of love--love which Jay and the Americans expressly so meaningfully...

  • did anyone else grow up thinking the girl belonged to Batman José?

  • @steakdiaper HAHAHAH AND MIGHT I ADD.....HAHAHAHHA CLASSIC!

  • Was srtaitoned in Yuma Arizona and made crossings to Mexico to see the pretty senoritas. Then the folowing year off to Nam..

  • This is a great song. Does anyone else wonder if they were born in the wrong generation?

  • @dcederstrom

If they were born in the wrong generation, then so was I. No... it was a wonderful time to grow up and go with friends to the dances at the local hop by the lake. If you got your courage up, you'd ask a pretty stranger to dance and by golly, more often than not she'd flash a smile and into the middle of the dancing crowd you went hand in hand. And so much of that magic was due to Jay Black and all those great performers of his (our) time. What I'd give to be able to re-live it.

  • @dcederstrom Or if we were?

  • @dcederstrom I was young, but still so thankful I got to grow up with this music, especially from a cousin 6 years older. Always listened to Del Shannon, Leslie Gore, Crystals, Mary Wells, Gene Pitney.........and I will take this over anything today!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @dcederstrom often

  • @dcederstrom Not at all. This generation has it fuckin' made. High-speed internet + Youtube = we don't have to listen to the shit on the radio.

I do wish we could have enormous V8s in our first cars though. The high school parking lot was a whole lot less annoying before the age of moo bombs and V-TEC.

  • @dcederstrom If you were born in that decade you would probably hate this music and think wouldn't have been great if I was born during classical music.

Remember there were people like you back then. And that is why I love the modern millennium, we already have all this amazing music and our disposal, if we want to here this we just go on youtube. Screw living through the vietnam protests it's bad enough about the socialists on wall street.

  • @dcederstrom lol not me iwas born in that generation and loved growing up in it!

  • @dcederstrom question should be does anyone know if they were bron in the wrong generation at least i know i am i was bron with JB's and MC's and weezyszzzz

  • Jay and Elvis I consider you the two most favroite of mine because you know how to sing it baby.

  • was a great time to grow up

  • @granger18trains it certainly was, just got my first car 1958 Fairlane a hand me down when my dad got a new car had an am radio and it worked, all that we needed, that and the drive in

  • It was better believe it. Life to f--ckin hard for everybody these days.

  • @TheMicky101 The only song I can think of is "Lalalalala I love you" by the Jets. Nice romantic from the 70's. Hoe this helps!

  • @iappreciategoodmusic OOOpssss...sorry its the Delfonics. Not the Jets.

  • @iappreciategoodmusic Hi no that isn't the song i've searching for. I've found my song: it was la bamba by ritchie valens ;D :D but thanks your song is good too :)

  • Jay And The Americans Saturday Jan 22, 2011 show at Silver Reef Casino Spa Ferndale WA is sold out. A second show has been added for Friday Jan. 21.

  • Ok, I see, so it's not really that is was better then, or like you said, maybe it just SEEMS like it was better.

So, here's to a truly better 2011 for all! :)

  • To the 21 bandidos who disliked this song, Vamos, Jose is on his way and he's gonna bust a cap in your ass! he,he

  • @MrRockabilly70

What a HOOT!!! I couldn't stop laughing all morning. Thanks, I needed that.

  • @TheMustangsally75

You're welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed the joke.

I had completely forgotten about this comment as it was quite some time ago so I was a little surprised to see your reply in my inbox. Anyway, have a nice day.

  • @MrRockabilly70

I always read the posts. Get you and a few others with your sense of humor and you could take your show on the road. I always get a good laugh everyday from some of the songs I pick. Keep up the good work!!!!! You put a smile on my face!!!!

  • @TheMustangsally75

Thank you once again my friend, you're too kind!

You're absolutely right. I too read the comments as well on some of the songs I listen to and they are really funny. It's half the fun of being on youtube. It's good to see a lot of people out there with a great sense of humor, my kind of people! It took me a long time to mature and "grow up" as I always liked to goof around and make people laugh. I was a bit of a class clown at school back in the day but I've got no regrets.

  • It WAS a great time to grow up!!

  • Jay and the americans are coming to the Silver Reef Casino Spa in Ferndale, Washington on Saturday Jan 22, 2011

  • @blueridger28 You are entitled to your opinion, but everything is amazing and nobody is happy

    youtube.com/watch?v=8r1CZTLk-Gk

  • How 'bout if all you have to say is downer shit you just say nothing?

Life is short. Celebrate its joys. Like music. Like this song. Thanks for posting it, Johnny V!

  • Truly, Jays' greatest classic. Thank You.

  • yes it is ,thats what it all about fun fun fun

  • very nice thank you

  • Mark Lindsay, at 2:04????

  • great song thank you

  • I LOVE this song. I sing it all the time. I'd like to hear Michael Buble do this song with the same "Latin" flavor to it.

  • I bet the girl looks like Gloria from Moder Family.

  • I remember we were at a Mexican restaurant with my grandpa shortly before he died and he requested that the mariachi band play this song. It was stuck in my head for days afterwards.

  • There's only One "Jay and the Americans", and that's the one that features the legendary Jay Black . I can deal with substitute Americans but not with a substitute Jay. Jay Black is Jay And The Americans !

  • @vintagezigg

    Agree Totally~!

  • @vintagezigg I believe jay Tranor was the original, but i agree JB was the best

  • What silky smooth voice!!! How would you like to hear that in your bedroom every night???

  • Moral of this song? Don't mess with Jose.

  • You see what happens with an open border

  • @LukeL007 not in Arizona!

  • @LukeL007 really? You guys will make bad out anything!!!

  • I think that's Mark Lindsay of Paul Revere and the Raiders from "Where the Action is",

sort of a goofy show with a goofy (but talented) host, hence the Mexican spoofing.

Even with that BS, Jay's talent or professionalism never weened for a moment.

He was bigger than all of those clowns.

  • Very good song

  • Great great great!

  • Holy crap what a HUNK !!!! WOW..I knew I loved their music for a reason...LOL

  • @akiraislove1 LOL I knew I wasn't the only one who thought so :D

  • wow!

  • Always liked this group.

  • Looked like a fun time to grow up. Unlike the shithole weve created now.

  • @blueridger28 Agreed!

  • @blueridger28 Yes, Bring back segregation!

  • @cowhunter101 Segregation is just a drop in the bucket to the shit hole weve made now

  • @blueridger28 Lady Gaga is the shithole alongslide with Justin Gayber

  • @blueridger28, I agree!!

  • @blueridger28

    It was....innocents

  • @blueridger28 Yea, who gives a fuck about what has been created. R u livin someone elses life too? Nope. I create/do whatever i want.

  • @ArcadeStroke Godamn persumptious asshole. All i did was just listen to song. FUCK

  • @blueridger28 - I feel sorry for people like you, who can only see the negative. The 60's were a difficult time to grow up - the Vietnam War, assassinations, the struggle for civil rights, just to name a few things. The past always seem better because it IS the past, and you tend to only remember the good things, and forget the bad.

  • @AJM303 Think about whats goin on today and repreat that. Dont feel sorry for me.

  • @blueridger28 - I will repeat it. Tell me exactly "what's going on today" that you feel is so terrible?

  • @AJM303 UH... War in Middle east, Afghanistan, the world, Assasinations, Civil rights struggles the same shit, different toilet MAssive takeover of the world by corporations, Its the same. It just seemed like a better time than what i was raised in

  • @blueridger28 It was a fun time indeed to grow up back in the sixties. All that great music we''ve made.

  • @blueridger28 Believe me, it was just as bad back then, just in different ways

  • Comment removed

  • I grew up in Brooklyn in the 1950's and 60's. The music scene was the best part of that time. But the great tunes were a distraction from the truly horrible things that happened. Think of the Korean war, the Cuban missile crisis, the assassinations of JFK, RFK, MLK, the Vietnam war, the military draft.

  • @blueridger28

GREAT TIME TO GROW UP.............. I GREW UP IN THE 60's AND I WOULD NOT HAVE TRADED IT

FOR ANYTHING!!!!!!!! SIMPLE TIMES..... IT WAS AWESOME

  • @blueridger28 what do you mean?

  • The guy to the left of Jay is Kenny Vance. He and his group the Planotones

still perform doo-wop. Search Kenny Vance on youtube.

  • Great song!

  • love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Happy to hear Jay And The Americans & The Association are singing Veterans Day Nov 11 at The Veterans Memorial Auditorium Columbus Ohio.

  • @DooWoppOh

complaining on youtube doesn't fix anything.

  • LaPorte County Fair LaPorte Indiana has Jay And The Americans & The Buckinghams in concert on Friday July 23.

  • Jay And The Americans, Little Anthony And The Imperials, Shirley Alston Reeves, Fred Paris And the Five Satins & The Bronx Wanderers are playing May 22 at TD Bank Arts Center Sewell NJ.

  • I'm going to see Jay and the Americans along with the Vogues live at the concert on Mother's Day weekend at the Events Center on Binghamton University Campus in Binghamton, NY next month. I am anticipating for the excitement soon.

  • Fun performance of a great song...looks like it was originally from "Where The Action Is"...anyone know for sure?

  • Jay And The Americans & The Vogues are playing May 8 at the Greater Binghamton Sports Complex in Binghamton NY.

  • @nysixitiesrocker

The Vogues will also be at the Elmira, NY Holiday Inn Riverfront on the 7th.

  • @acesofmusic I like The Vogues also. Great songs.

  • beautiful show last night in Las vegas.

  • consiglio di ascoltare una bella versione cantata dal grande Willy Deville.

  • Glad to see Jay And The Americans will be coming down to Florida next week.

Apr.8 Naples Philaharomic PAC Naples FL (with Little Anthony). Apr. 9 Mchaffey Theatre St Petersburg FL (w/ Coasters, Crystals). Apr. 10 Nova University Arena Davie FL (with Coasters, Crystals & Tymes). Clay Cole is MC for all three shows.

  • Because "Jose" is a badass name. If his name had been "Hector" nobody would have run away. Imagine.."then I heard the guitar player say...vamoose Hector's on his way".

  • I never could understand if this guy was so big and so strong why he ran from Jose can someone explain?

  • From the look of this video I'm betting it's a take from "Where the action is"- a great old afternoon dance show featuring Paul Revere and the Raiders as the house band. Anyone know for sure?

  • Jose was going to cut his skinny white ass.....

  • Did anyone see how he took that flower from the guys hand in the beginning of the video? Then the mexican was looking at him like 'what the F*%# was that'?

  • Yeah! What the hell was that about haha.

  • Did you know that BB King is from Indianola, MS?

  • I am going to see Jay And The Americans at BB Kings Supper Club in Times Square New York City on Friday March 5.

  • There was a female remake of this song...anyone know who she is?

I rather say its nice to have a female and a male version of songs :P

  • @Twisted86 Not sure if this is the version you are talking about but in 1976 Johnny Duncan had a country hit with this song, and the "Come a little bit closer..." line was sung by a woman named Janie Frickie. It didn't chart pop but was a big hit on the country chart.

  • @tennesseegator

That was it thank you very much.

  • The Aussie Delltones sing a similar song ,different words both great songs

  • brings back the days when one could understand the words!!lol
