  • Wow she was really fluid. Beautiful actually.

  • my back starts to hurt if i sit up straight for just a few minutes how the hell she do that

  • <3 :)

  • Sublime!

  • jackie chan could beat down on her ass

  • @Oparmeste Jackie Chan would more likely either join her in doing the form or offer comments to help her improve what she already knows.

  • @Oparmeste Probably not. Jackie is great but Jackie is not a real martial artist.

  • @dogooda12 and why do you say that? Just because I play in front of an audience or take requests does not make me a real musician. For some reason, people say that Bruce Lee was not a real martial artist either

  • @improv113 Jackie is a stuntman and very talented. Bruce Lee was a student of Wing Chun's Grandmaster Ip Man and studied other various kung fu styles and then developed his own concept Jeet Kune Do. Bruce Lee was clearly a martial artist. And any one who says otherwise doesn't know what they're talking about.

  • @dogooda12 In no way, shape, or form am I arguing the fact that Bruce Lee wasn't a martial artist lol. It ticks me off that people who claim to know him very well (John Saxon, Chuck Norris) would say that they don't know if he was actually a martial artist, or whether or not he could whoop their asses. Shame on them.

  • @improv113 You need to make sure that you make yourself clearly understood because I had know idea what you were going on about then.

  • awesome. beautiful and powerful. hmmm. i'm gonna need a bigger living room.

  • Great,I would like to see her do the 103 movement as well. I bet it would be just as fantasticaly done

  • It is not my intent to do anything other than to try and clarify the aims and objectives of tai chi chuan as a martial art. To do that we can just look at the logic of the styles themselves. Is the goal great strength or great softness. Both are not equal. Strength has an upper limit, but softness and awareness of center, can be refined infinitely.

Qiu HuiFang would be as difficult to touch as a passing cloud . . .

  • Maybe the goal is not to be a better fighter, but instead to become a better defender of your center. Master Ha said, "Awareness is more important than martial ability". He was speaking in regards to an impromptu interaction with an opponent. A person who diligently practices awareness, yielding, balance and grace for long enough to achieve a level of excellence, will be able to out yield someone who has only trained external strength, even if they have never had to defend against such an atta

  • When you begin Taï-Chi, you don't want to stop it !! It's a real pleasure to practise !!! I learn once a week with a teacher and everyday at home !!

  • this art style is my personal fav. i wish i could learn to do it...

  • @meanmugfan then just simply try to learn baka their are plenty of videos on youtube that teaches you how to do tai chi and many different styles which you could try i'm still a beginner at it as well but their are ways to learn tai chi without actually having to pay for a instructor or a DVDyou know

  • I am holding a book with the same form in it ;] I will learn it and I hope I won't mees up anything

  • excelente forma muy buen nivel tecnico saludos desde este lado del emisferio..(Argentina..)

  • Posters in other boards claim Tai Chi can be used for combat. Maybe? But for me, it's value lies in allowing anyone to experience beauty, grace, peace. I look at the lovely, serene and gentle presence of this young woman, her movements a great pleasure to watch and I'm inspired, my spirit high with the hope that this too is within my reach.

  • 妙極了!

  • 妙極了!

  • Beautiful , wonderful , graceful , great tai chi

  • beautiful

  • Passing cloud

  • Gracias muy bueno me gustaría las 48 formas seria genial

  • Thanks for sharing! Her name is Qiu, HuiFang and is one of previous international and China national champions. She is the chief coach of China Tai Ji Team.

  • Davygrokit@ love wwat u said

    This girl is fantastic

    So gentle

    Lite breeze'

    She's like a passin cloud!

  • Really slow. I mean before it begins working. I am waiting now 3 minutes for uploading.

  • I agree with Dave, this is how you should train even if you're doing something deadly. I did Shotokan karate for 3 years and was Pres. of the Univ. club and my Sensei would always say, "You're amazing fast, low stance, great form, but you suck at going slow. You need to train slow slow slow, control your movements perfectly slow, then it's matter of speeding up later. If you can only do fast, you will fall out of balance from the brute force." I still train on my own slow, fast, and now Tai Chi~

  • Who said Shaolin Kung Fu was the best. Why then is Tai Chi called the Supreme Ultimate? This beautiful woman's transforms are marvelously smooth and balanced. Yes, she does not look like a martial threat, but that smooth, sensitive balance is what would be reading anyone she touched. She would be very adept at uprooting an attacker. Note her vertical spine, the head held up as she moves "as if suspended from above". It would be a mistake to underestimate her.

  • @daveygrokit a year later...word

  • @daveygrokit Look, not to be cynical, but the only way you can learn to fight well is by... well.. fighting, or at least getting pretty close to it with full contact sparring.

  • @daveygrokit Not to troll, but just because the band is called Queen, doesn't mean they're royalty. Supreme Ultimate doesn't in any way describe the philosophy behind each movement. Control over a situation does not only require physical balance and grace; it requires mental and emotional control as well. It requires complete emptiness of want. That is why I think many people consider the philosophy of Shaolin more effective. A tree stands graceful and lithe, but even it will fall to an axe.

  • RY:

So this is why Shaolin Kung Fu is the best.

  • I love her Pajamas!

  • @coniaric

Wow, I'm not surprised I feel insulted.

  • taijiquan is tai chi chuan?

  • Yes. taijiquan is the manderine version based on China's formal pronounciation nowadays. "tai chi chuan" is the old name in use but more acceptable in the western world. It's similar to calling China's capital "Beijing" instead of "Peking".

  • yes it is one and the same.

  • very well done

  • 4:11 she should bend her knees lower down first, then it'll b smoother

  • which tai chi does jet li do? his looks like is for combat

  • Chen Style

  • show me one scene where jet li's attackers are really attacking him, and his moves are successfully defending without overkill

  • It´s wonderful. Thanks for the explanation.

Em português : Este vídeo é simplesmente maravilhoso. As 24 formas são executadas com perfeição.

    Obrigada pelas dicas.

  • This is stylized Taiji that is used in competition. You folks are so comical with your egotistic corrections. Especially butter29: Your Sifu might spank your tender infant bottom for criticizing the manner in which a tree grows.

  • Wow, really? At 31 I'll take the infant bottom comment as a compliment. I hope my training keeps me that infantile for years to come. I offered critique of technique, free of insults, based on ten years of taiji training and you call it comical, egotistic and claim it would earn me a spanking? Her taiji is flawed IMO and I see no reason to say otherwise. Mine is not perfect either. A tree cannot grow wrong, but a foundation can be built poorly.

  • Taichi does not have absolutely correct form since there are different schools that teach differently. One principle, however, has to be observed, The chi flow has to be steady, long and slow and the movement matches the fluency of the chi. I do not see too much flaws in her.

  • Be still as a mountain,

    move like a great river.

  • And walk like a cat!

  • Honey, he's right. As much as I regret to correct people publicly, every thing he said are to the point.

This lady is a world champion wushu performer, and this is an instruction video. The fundamentals of the art, as appear in the classics and in the formal teaching of the Yang family frown on things like you see in 1:59. Her right knee position is appalling and should be banned by any instructor. This is harmful on all levels of the art: martial, health and connection to heaven and earth.

  • 3:47, scary smooth! EXCELLENT, though in the footwork, the heel of the rear foot is often off the ground. Supposed to be planted. If it has to be lifted, tat either means over-extending or not balanced.

  • The Yang 24 naked form would bring me more joy.

  • YEAHHHHH

  • 4:59 need to go so low? o.o

  • @watts18269 excellent comment , don't know why people were so upset with it :) "yang 24 naked form" I'll remember that :D

  • can someone explain the six harmonies?

  • *3 Internal Harmonies

1.)The Heart or (desire) harmonizes with the intent.

2.)The intent harmonizes with the Qi or vital energy.

3.)The Qi harmonizes with the physical strength.

    *3 External Harmonies

1.)The elbows harmonize with the knees.

2.)The shoulders harmonize (coordinate) with the hips

3.)The hands harmonize with the feet.

  • @ericpequot

x.) The Gun harmonizes with the fear. ^^

LOL - seeing how popular this is in China, I cannot think of any other way - why military assholes are so concerned about controlling people with weapons. They fear their own and most normal people.

But anyhow, its good to see Chinese people so harmonious and gracefully in life, just by using YouTube for it.

( Thought most chinese can only suffer and shiver in front of such a stupid government. )

  • i love the flow and grace of your movements. i'm currently taking the Taolu form of Wushu and am trying to learn Taiji as well. i'm still very clumsy with it, though this video should help alot. :)

  • Hmm Pretty, I suppose, but she leans forward and out of her center much too far (her Single Whip is way off, in particular), and her movements appear disjointed — that is, her hands and arms move independently of her body, rather than being driven by central motion originating in the dantien.

  • beautiful form, but not the kind of tcc you could use in combat imo

  • Exactly, no gongfu. Everyone here is seeing fluidity of qi, I see broken qi, lack of connection. This doesn't bode well as taiji for health either. You teach it this way to someone older and you will destroy their knees. When you let your knee bend inward you break the chain of qi flow from the ground up and do damage to ligaments. She is pretty, the form looks pretty, but I wouldn't let my mother practice like this. Look carefully at taiji principle when viewing. There is a lot wrong.

  • if she is flexible and strong its ok for her to do it. but why even consider teaching this to old people? ofcorse they cant do it cause they are stiff and weak. old people should not go so low or do the movements this ample.

actualy u cant even teach young people to duplicate her if they lack the strentgh or flexibility. its simply to hard for them. i know, i have tried it myself. so things tend to ballance themselves out in the end. those who have the ability to do it this way can do it.

  • She doesn't have the requisite structural strength to keep her back knee from bending inward when stepping forward. I'm sure she is flexible, but many people can do taiji with proper structure while going lower than she (older folks as well). Do it right before you go low!

  • i dont agree.

this is like the discussion about he bumble bee who shouldnt be able to fly, but does so anyway.

i dont see this girl being out of breath of shaking on her legs in any of the movements. so she does have the strength! and if she has the strength it is of little importance what she does with ther knee. unless she wants to do pushhands, then its a diferent thing.

  • i dont believe in breaking of the ki because the limbs dont follow a certain "open" line. i have done yoga for 10 years besides taichi and we did some very complex contortions and sat or stood in very awkward positions with the energy flowing just fine.

  • Right, but the contortions were to focus on certain meridians and were done with certain principles in mind. In this video her structure is disruptive to the meridians and doesn't follow the principles in mind for taiji.

  • yes, u are right.

  • Either she wasn't taught right or can't do it, but it is universally correct in taiji styles to not let the knee bend inward when stepping. This creates unnecessary strain on the ligaments in the knee. It compromises peng in the lower body. I wrote "structural strength" because it is specific to the proper structure of taiji. It is not easy to do without practicing properly for a while. There are many better examples on youtube for reference.

  • u are right about the theoretical part of it. but it all depends what she wants to get out of her tai chi. if she dont care about the martial art part of it, but just wants to practice it for the spirtual and physical benefit, then its ok.

from the look of it she was propably a gymnast before, so what may be hard for most of us is easy for her. why shouldnt she do it that way if she can.

  • If she doesn't want to cause long term physical damage she would do well to take a step back and correct fundamentals. Don't get me wrong, her form is beautiful, I would just contend that it's just show and not great for health or fighting. She's probably good at lots of wushu performance which can be good exercise, but often damages the body if one doesn't observe fundamentals. The bent in knee restricts force from the ground and damages the meridian.

  • yep, u are right about the fundamentals, and i dont practice it that way myself. also i ofcorse wouldnt advise any newstarter to practice like that. but in her case i think its ok, because its not realy an effort for her. as i said she is never out of breath or shaking on the leg that upholds all her body weight while taking a step. it looks quite firm and relaxed. so i dont feel she is placing that much strain on the knee.

also she is young. im sure she will correct it as she gets older :)

  • It makes me cringe.

  • well, just take it for what it is. its elegant and she emanates a lot of harmony and beauty in motion.

  • Fundamentals are the most important part of taiji. The principles make the art. I don't find this to be fundamentally sound and thus, not good taiji. I find it lacking in harmony as pertains to the liu he (6 harmonies) that should be present. This fuels misconception as a pretty example of taiji dance.

  • pls explain the 6 harmonies. i may have heard them once, but its several years ago.

but what is so wrong about a pretty tai-chi dance. cant u enjoy that?

sounds like u are taking the tai-chi principles a bit to serious. it all depends on the goal as i see it. your goal with the practice may differ from hers, or mine.

  • I tried to post a link describing, but it didn't work. Briefly, liu he is 3 internal and 3 external harmonies. Internal are: xin harmonizes w/yi, yi harmonizes w/qi, qi harmonizes w/li. External are: shoulders and knees move as one, knees and elbows, hands and wrists. If a dance is just mimicking a form w/out princinples, is it taiji? Her's is not all bad though, I've seen much worse.

  • yes, i understand and agree on the original principles of tai-chi.

  • By "Bending inward" You mean hyper-extending, right? Not just bending normally?

  • Ok, show us what you do... your video pls

  • No, taiji doesn't HAVE to be GREAT, but it needs to follow certain principles to be good for health or fighting. This has nothing to do with ego, it's just the basis of taiji. It is ego to present a pretty but empty form as a guide. I don't know the background of this woman, but it looks like an instructional vid to me. I have no stake in promoting myself or belittling her, but I think it fair to point out fundamental flaws.

  • thanks for the information...where do we find your vids?

  • So jehetty, When are you going to post your own video and show us what you think is lacking here? Who knows we may actually learn from you.

  • Not enought waist, too much up and down, knee bends inward too often (lacking structure). Pretty and smooth, but not great taiji.

  • this is so ecxuisitly (sp) fluid. i learn something everytime i watch it. like a song....thankyou qui hui fang and elephantom.

  • fantastic

  • amazing!!!!!!

perfect ,(I learn Taichi .I know it.

  • Woohoo! Qiu Huifang!

  • Very good

  • amazingly done.

  • Muy bueno, gracias por ponerlo, me ha gustado mucho, pues es la forma que llevo años practicando, junto con el Chi Kung.

    SALUDOS Y UN ABRAZOTE.

  • a performance form,no yin yang palm, probably good for health as an aerobic exercise but not authentic tai chi

  • Wow.. I am curious of what do you think of the Qui Hui Fang back view form (5:50)posted by teatruesferico?

  • You are right, do u learn martial arts or taichi?, if so, who is your teacher.

  • There is no yin yang palm? Could you explain further please. I quickly learned 24 form and need to practice it again since I've stopped practicing over a year ago. Thanks.

    Peace

    @_*

  • Simply said, the hands need to transition from unflexed (yin) to flexed (yang) throughout the entire movement. If they go straight from yin to yang before the completion of the movement, then it cheapens the amount of power the strike should have.

  • this makes me want to find a tai chi class again. very nicely done

  • If you've taken tai chi before, you should invest in the 24 simplified DVD. It's rather easy to learn if you have a background in MA, and its always fun to play

  • thanks for the advice, ill check it out. i know the form quite well, i just need to work on my stances (wubu chuan) more and stretch again to build up lower body strength and flexibility to make my form more graceful.

  • fantastic, perfect stance, such smooth and graceful transition.
