I noticed KABC and ESPN Had Problems with Time Warner Cable in a contract deal in July 2010 in the LA Area. Here in San Francisco the ABC O&O here KGO does not have problems with Cable Deals because Xfinity cable serves the San Francisco area.

Cablevision stopped airing abc at 12AM,3/7/10. This is totally insane! Why is it that Cablevision cannot keep a network on the air while a settlement is reached? This is the second time it has has happened this year.

1. What does ABC charge other providers?
2. What does Cablevision pay other basic broadcasters?
3. Any Government issue with pulling a basic channel off the air? I would think no for this since I'm sure it would have come up already. But it seems that if the government gave ABC a charter to broadcast to provide some public service, it should be available to all citizens.

Eveything from .25 extra per remote when i'm already paying $25 a month for cable boxes that I will never own to $16 extra for basic channels when i'm already paying $79 a month for their silver package which includes basic already! There is even a charge called the "additional outlet premium service fee" for an extra $5 a month. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? You include taxes and "other fees" and its clear that the customer is getting the $hitty end of an already $hit ladened stick!
Frankly I couldn't give a $hit about their million dollar spat except that it always falls on the customers lap. Is ABC taking this to the extreme by pulling their channel? Of course! But they do have a point. Anyone look at their cable bill lately? Notice all of the special surcharges that they have applied to your account?
But Cablevision can raise their cable TV rates to pay for all of the bad contracts handed out by Rangers GM Glen Sather, and former Knicks GM Isiah Thomas, and the judgements in the various sexual harassment trials at Madison Square Garden (Anucha Browne Saunders anyone?).
Sorry ABC, your station is FREE and not commercial FREE. Cablevision or any provider shouldn't pay you a dime! In fact, you should be paying these providers for the privelage of serving their customers. Im pissed at Cablevision because they said they would pay you 25 cents per subscriber which is outrageous. I hope CV sticks to their guns on this one.
