I do not believe that the La. State Medical Society had a clear understanding of what this bill did in its original form. Nevertheless, it is good that they are comfortable with what it does now, as amended. The purpose of the bill is to insure that consumers that pay for a medical payments endorsement for their auto policy actually get the benefit of it, rather than their health insurer improperly claiming the benefits.
