adam saw her dancing with cute guy god at the party! so she's not crazy! ... i think?
ugh this is so confusing. If she was just mental how could she know to do all those things? for crying out loud, i feel like I'M the one having the crisis of faith! >.<
I think Adam would have believed her if she hadn't been sick. Like in one of the first episodes when she told God she knew he would believe her. It's just that it was too easy for him to believe she was hallucinating because of the lyme disease.
if he believed her then she would have a logical reason to believe it was real and it wouldn't be "faith" cause, (they already said that faith is believing in something when there is no logical explanation), thus a crisis of faith. Like the dad has to decide if he saw that man's mother in the hallway and the mum has to explain her dream and those decisions will probably influence the way they see joan's illness
@RoEssence this episode is an interesting twist to the entire set up of the show. It is almost questioning Joan's mental state, and her actions from the whole season. It makes the audience ask "was it god? or and illness?" Also, she has not told her family, and now their support is not helpful, because they will think she is mentally fragile. It is the undoing of Joan.
I wish this show could be real life. and i wish i could be joan. I'd do everything God asked me to do without complaining. :] id love to talk to God!!!
because althowe it is an illness have the "halutinations" would mess with the mind its like being told your best friend never existed you where just sick how would you react?
i actually would have belived her, and adam, being the open-minded semi-spiritual person he is should have at least belived her a little bit. and ok, if god was truly and illusion, then how come at some points when he was talking to others and she heard the others answer? was she hearing an illusion from them too?
In reality, most people wouldn't believe her or someone making similar claims. It is very easy to jump to "he/she is crazy/disillusioned/sick" explanation.
Take me for instance, I am a follower of Christ. Even though I don't literally talk to God (as depicted in this show), I do talk to Him in my faith, and plenty of people think that is weird enough. Approx. 76% of Americans claim to be Christian... yet how many would not believe one can converse with God?
yeah I hate it when people say they are christians when they don't really have a relationship with God! I think this show could happen in real life if thats how god chose to reveal himself, he appeared to moses as a burnig bush so why not?
I'm not religious at all, but is the relationship with god really necessarily to be christian? I think it's okay to obey the ten commandments, to live a way you can feel good with, to treat others as you wish to be treated yourself. I guess if you gentle accept circumstances and situations even if they hurt you don't need a relationship to god, because most people pray and talk to god if they feel sad and hurt.
it's really cute how adam kisses her forehead before he leaves. it is really sad that he doesn't believe her, but it goes to show what culture today pushes us to think and how to react in certain situations and part of that is the automatically think that anything God-related is insane.... it's really sad.
I know, but if the doctor said that your friend has been having hallucinations and then she tells you that she'd been talking to God, would YOU believe her?
So, didn't God tell Joan in the 1ST Episode that she could NOT tell anyone that he was talking to her??? I could have sworn there were two rules and that was the second one. Did I misunderstand or just imagine that he told her that???
I hate this episode!

Other people saw God too when she was talking to him sometimes. She should remember that.

What about the time that she saved her dad's life? There's no way to explain that other than that God was actually talking her...

You don't need to talk to god to be a good person and you don't need some kind of order from god to do good things.

if everything is just because of a "physical" disease, why did they send her to a camp for the mentally ill?
in season 2, Adam believes her and she tells him not to talk about it....make up your mind

Jeneric - he never told her not to say anything
She was going to tell Adam, but God told her it wasn't the right time to burden him with that.
She can tell who she likes, its just better not to.
