Well I'm really glad people still like this, but here I am 3 years later, analyzing it after I've learned so much more about cinema and storytelling. It has a good buildup overall with a clear beginning, middle, and climax, but I put so many clips beside each other that were unrelated (abominations then to war with darkspawn? why, I don't even....?) I didn't focus on characters quite enough and included too many unnecessary action clips. There's good parts and bad parts, I can live with that :]
It really doesnt work out for the dwarves in this tribute because if you pick harrowmont he gets murdered like a week after his coronation, also your character was on fire at the ending O.o guess the Archdemon invented everlasting flames...

Lame joke aside (I'm sorry after seeing your comment I couldn't resist) they reinforced the idea that they recruited everybody even villains and criminals. I think that was one of the most fascinating parts of the order that is filled with both criminals and heroes. On top of that a lot of them were probably drafted against their will. After all you don't have to be good to do good things and vice versa.
@JJO902 That especially works when you consider that out of all the origins, only 2 of them (Human Noble and Dalish Elf) aren't criminals in some way. The Mage is an accomplice to a blood mage, city elf killed a lot of people, possibly including the arl's son, Dwarf Commoner is a member of the carta, and the Dwarf Noble is a kin-slayer.
@Evilguy951 Well, judging by Alistair's sword swinging at Loghain's head, I chose to keep Alistair over Loghain. He meant well, but I think some things shouldn't be so easily forgiven... such as mass murder.
You think Origins ending is interesting because it ended in mystery.
Damn i hate.Take for example Witch Hunt DLC,he didnt give any answers regarding Moorigan and child(if you accepted Dark Ritual),he just gave us 1000 additional questions.It was stupid sucking money from players,it hadnt any interesting location(all recycled),no deep characterization of party members,we don't know what happened with Morrigan or child(we just know they went through portal).
@matejsolid I can understand how you feel about it, but in my opinion those things just weren't meant to be answered. It'd take away from the experience, but again, that's just my opinion. As for DA2. Try to accept the fact, that it's what it is. The demo was fun. As for the story, we already talked about it with Darkozl. If they nail the story and the characters, the game will be amazing. Think more positively, being angry about them not continuing the Origins story is meaningless.
@Darkozl You'll have to get used to the changes, but honestly, they aren't bad. I liked the new combat. The style is a bit strange, but Origins' style wasn't flaweless either I admit, that I still have my doubts about it, but we'll see. What I'm more worried about is the conversation wheel, but they might just nail it. Dragon Age had its share of problems too, yet I loved every second of it. If they deliver another compelling story with deep characters, the second game should be a blast too.
@huecomundo777 That's exactly what I'm worried about: the story and characters. The scenes in the demo were WEAK. The writing was just so awkward and the emotion stilted... especially when Hawke's brother died. Otherwise, I love the combat, the style (I don't find it strange at all, just fresh and pleasing to the eye), and the music. The music to me shows signs of being better than DA1.
Like you said, I hope they nail the story and characters.
@Darkozl About the scene with Hawke's brother...I have to agree with you on that one. Then again, a demo is not meant to show us the story or the characters. Actually they probably skipped over things, so that they wouldn't give away too much, but even if they didn't, that was just one scene. It's hard to get emotional, when you don't know anything about the character. I still trust the people at Bioware, their characters and storylines are always excellent.
Hawke i raw emotional character,nothing will change ourselves created characters from origins and romance with moorigan or leliana's,then when party members are saying goodbye at final battle,Flemet's killing...
No damn i wanted to contiue,to see what would happen with moorigan and child but no,they had to simplify gameplay for fucking nerd consolers...
@matejsolid You are being way too negative about this. Origins was a complete story. The ending is shrouded in mistery, which, at least in my opinion, made it even more interesting. One of the reasons, that kept me coming back to the game was the fact, that I kind of missed the characters. As for me, my character died in Denerim and I don't feel like he should be revived in any way. As far as I know, Hawke is definitely not a preset character. And let's just avoid the PC vs consoles topic.
@DanBonRP I'm like 2 hours in and bored out of my mind. I'll give it another couple hours before I give up on it. Sucks cause I was really looking forward to doing a DA2 montage similar to this video.

I liked Loghain. A heavy paranoiac to be sure, and a maker of many mistakes, but he was a Fereldan through and through. His dedication to his country is something to be lauded.
I didn't even get Alistair as King, he left and never looked back. I'm reading the book DA The Stolen Thorne right now and it gives so much insight to Loghain, I guess I sympathized with him at bit more because of that. Still feel bad for Alistair, but Loghain was pretty cool to have around, he even lived and became Warden trainer (I did the deed with Morrigan).
I love that these decisions really make you feel the consequences.
Nice. I just finished it myself. I put Queen Anora on the throne and spared Loghain. Alistair didn't like that very much. That boy needed to toughen up. Is there anyway to have both Loghain and Alistair in the party?
@DaVeO52 I don't think there is, and that was the toughest decision I had to make. I mean, Loghain is, to me, a mass murderer and complete dick. Though him staying was practical because he's awesome at war, my moral compass said no. I also knew that Anora and Alistair ruling together would work out well.

Yeah, her healing was invaluable. Cyd was an absolute badass (RIP, old friend) but his wreckless, brutal style of fighting with both combat and magic required a lot of healing.

@TheDexterKane I just finished the Qunari saga, and I still hate it. The voice acting is weak, the cinematics are weak except for those very few scenes, the characters don't develop, the pacing is really weird, and I always feel like not enough was explained. I also feel less 'free' in DA2 than in DA:O, which I didn't think was possible. And what's up with the half-assed graphics such as the jewelry pasted onto Isabella's skin texture? Maker bless....
it was weird how his body was still on fire after he killed the Archdeamon is it like eternal fire or something i think iv killed the Archdeamon several times using fire and it hasn't happened to me so both :( cause my mages don't get eternal fire but :) because my guys gets to die and not be eternally on fire and that's great
@MegaDawnofwar Well, it may have been fixed in a patch? I was pretty much standing in the middle of that fiery inferno spell right when I activated the archdemon's death scene. I thought it was pretty badass for the final blow but when I saw him on fire on the altar I was like O_o
what annoys me most in this game that I cant be a dwarf king nor human king. dwarves ftw though ;P Also the lack or armor models was stupid as hell. I still enjoyed the game. I'd give it 8/10 in scale.
@littlesaiyan Yes, you can use them as if they never died.. I tried to do that, but it just didn't feel right so I made a non-martyr character for Awakening :)

The style is a bit strange, but Origins' style wasn't flaweless either I admit, that I still have my doubts about it, but we'll see. What I'm more worried about is the conversation wheel, but they might just nail it. Dragon Age had its share of problems too, yet I loved every second of it. If they deliver another compelling story with deep characters, the second game should be a blast too.

@huecomundo777 That's exactly what I'm worried about: the story and characters. The scenes in the demo were WEAK. The writing was just so awkward and the emotion stilted... especially when Hawke's brother died. Otherwise, I love the combat, the style (I don't find it strange at all, just fresh and pleasing to the eye), and the music. The music to me shows signs of being better than DA1.
Like you said, I hope they nail the story and characters.

@Darkozl About the scene with Hawke's brother...I have to agree with you on that one. Then again, a demo is not meant to show us the story or the characters. Actually they probably skipped over things, so that they wouldn't give away too much, but even if they didn't, that was just one scene. It's hard to get emotional, when you don't know anything about the character. I still trust the people at Bioware, their characters and storylines are always excellent.

@matejsolid You are being way too negative about this. Origins was a complete story. The ending is shrouded in mistery, which, at least in my opinion, made it even more interesting. One of the reasons, that kept me coming back to the game was the fact, that I kind of missed the characters. As for me, my character died in Denerim and I don't feel like he should be revived in any way. As far as I know, Hawke is definitely not a preset character. And let's just avoid the PC vs consoles topic.

I liked Loghain. A heavy paranoiac to be sure, and a maker of many mistakes, but he was a Fereldan through and through. His dedication to his country is something to be lauded.

I didn't even get Alistair as King, he left and never looked back. I'm reading the book DA The Stolen Thorne right now and it gives so much insight to Loghain, I guess I sympathized with him at bit more because of that. Still feel bad for Alistair, but Loghain was pretty cool to have around, he even lived and became Warden trainer (I did the deed with Morrigan).
I love that these decisions really make you feel the consequences.

@DaVeO52 I don't think there is, and that was the toughest decision I had to make. I mean, Loghain is, to me, a mass murderer and complete dick. Though him staying was practical because he's awesome at war, my moral compass said no. I also knew that Anora and Alistair ruling together would work out well.

Yeah, her healing was invaluable. Cyd was an absolute badass (RIP, old friend) but his wreckless, brutal style of fighting with both combat and magic required a lot of healing.

@TheDexterKane I just finished the Qunari saga, and I still hate it. The voice acting is weak, the cinematics are weak except for those very few scenes, the characters don't develop, the pacing is really weird, and I always feel like not enough was explained. I also feel less 'free' in DA2 than in DA:O, which I didn't think was possible. And what's up with the half-assed graphics such as the jewelry pasted onto Isabella's skin texture? Maker bless....

But seriously i know how you are feeling they made (at least) a step backwards with Dragon Age 2.
Streamlining a game is not always better (It certainly worked in ME 2).
So i'm not the only one who thinks that the graphics got worse.
I played it on very high and it looks half assed to me.
It is still a good game but just disappointing

it was weird how his body was still on fire after he killed the Archdeamon is it like eternal fire or something i think iv killed the Archdeamon several times using fire and it hasn't happened to me so both :( cause my mages don't get eternal fire but :) because my guys gets to die and not be eternally on fire and that's great

@MegaDawnofwar Well, it may have been fixed in a patch? I was pretty much standing in the middle of that fiery inferno spell right when I activated the archdemon's death scene. I thought it was pretty badass for the final blow but when I saw him on fire on the altar I was like O_o

what annoys me most in this game that I cant be a dwarf king nor human king. dwarves ftw though ;P Also the lack or armor models was stupid as hell. I still enjoyed the game. I'd give it 8/10 in scale.
