I support Salamat Sahib in this regard, using some western music cannot make it modern when you presenting in a traditional form, rather the uses of synth disturb the ears... you either have to change the form to use western instruments while singing khayal or make the traditional form more interesting.. that's where the challenge lies..

raqib, shruu3aat seems the Hindi equivalent of aaghaaz or ibtidaa. I know its a bizarre word since you never make a noun from a verb that ends in ayn by suffixing an alif, but its their language and we should keep our rules to ours.
are raqib bhai aapki bat bilul durust hai. lekin ye "your hindi" "my urdu" kehna bahut galat hai. bhasha hai, hum sab ki hai. isko bhi sarhad se na baanta jaye.
