  • I love this music... Oh, yes, and the stars also :)

  • Use a straw

  • wonderful !

  • You make this look so easy XD

So far all my stars have failed.. i think im getting there though.

I think the only thing that's wrong with it is i'm using printer paper and cutting it to 1cm by 20cm depending. Then again it might be me.. but i'm following all the folds. Hopefully i'll get better :)

  • THANK YOU!!! I had worked my self into a frenzy trying to get it to come out right, I got a headache too. the instructions were in Korean, and I don't understand much >.<

  • Twilight!!!! You got the bracelet

  • it seems my paper has lost his mind

  • i recently became obsessed with lucky stars. ive made a couple thousand in the last month (i have add so it keeps my hands busy) and so far i use them as a li something special when i wrap or bag a gift, and use string to make a lei for people to hang from their rear view mirror. what do you do with your stars?

  • @SixBubbles So far I keep them in a jar at home. They used to hang out at my desk at my old job. People always thought they were candy when they saw it. One actually popped one into their mouths when I wasn't looking! haha

  • Hi! Um, Can u help me? i cant do the last step when you make the star's edge with your nail. Every time i do it makes the edges but the star just stays flat... PLEASE REPLY ASAP

  • @MissMusic2416 Have you been pressing the edges of the star flat while folding it? If so, don't put so much pressure when folding the strip over. That will help with the paper to "puff up" when you push in on the sides.

Also, try using a quarter or some other thin & blunt object to push in on the sides. You can also try the "pinching" method where you pinch two sides at once with your forefinger and thumb.

Let me know if you need any more help. :)

  • Thanks for the tutorial! You explained it really well! My friend made a bunch and found a way to put them all on a sting and turn it into a bracelet xD

  • thank u ^-^ what is the name of the song? it´s beautiful

  • @narutoysakuralove Thanks! I don't remember the name of the song, but it was a choice from youtube's song edit list.

  • how do i crease it in it wont work :(

  • @jamiester71 If you're referring to the star's edges at the end. try pinching two sides at once with your forefinger and thumb. if not, try a thin blunt object.

  • why are they called lucky stars?

  • @D4Princess01 I actually have no idea. :) Some people say that if you make a certain amount that it brings luck.

  • I'm 13 an live in uk. I've made thousands. If you cant find the right paper or it's to expensive. Go to hobbycraft or micheals or any local craft shop and ask for QUILLING PAPER. Yup it's the exact same thing but make sure you get 10mm one or It won't work. Hope this helped. X

  • This is awsome. I made thousands and I'm 13 years old. I live in england and If you cant find the right paper go to hobbycraft micheals any crafting shop and ask for quilling paper it's exactly the same just make sure you get the 10mm one hope this helped if you could find cheap paper. :)

  • mine duznt like inflate abd i cant pinch it its hard :(

  • @TheHaloreach61 try using a coin or the back of a pair of (closed, so you don't hurt yourself) scissors. See if that helps out.

  • can plz tell me where do u get the paper from???? PLZ

  • @lunaticlibra20 I have a link under the video. You can also try looking for sellers on ebay. I have bought this type of paper from people on there as well.

  • Yes! I can finally do it, thank you so much! ^_^

  • @Pink279 Congratulations! :D I hope you enjoy them!

  • So hard..

  • @VariantSHI Keep at it! You'll eventually be making these like a pro!

  • have you ever tried turning them into beads? by like poking holes through them so you can put them on a bracelet? i keep on trying to do that and i either mess my star up or it doesnt work at all. help?

  • @storyism I've not tried this before, I'll see if I can attempt it sometime this week. I know that previous viewers have mentioned doing this sort of project before. So hopefully someone will get back to you faster than myself.

I would imagine laying the star on the edge of a table, to where only one point of the star is on it and poking a needle through in that manner. Good luck and I'll try to get back to you soon.

  • what is the name of this song? It's so pretty^^

  • @ArielleIsGorgeous I really don't know. :( It was on the choice file from YouTube though.

  • i once saw my cousin do some but her had was in the way and i didnt se how she started .. iv bine trying for years to do one well guess to de exact i would just fold the corners and the would end up like a triangle hahahaha but thanks for puting this vid now i know i DONT HAVE TO GUESS ANY MORE WHOOOOOO !!!!! XD

  • look at m channel i got how to make a paper pigeon :)

  • Thank u !!!!!! You really helped me.I know how to do them now and can teach other people!!!!!!! :)

  • Thank u!!!! You really helped me and now I can teach other people!!!! :)

  • It seems my paper doesnt know where to go...

  • @veggievegetarian LOL!

Aww, don't force it. All you have to do is follow the edges when you begin folding. you will always end up on another side.

  • where do u get them strip paper

  • @elaine6655 try craft shops online or in person. Also, ebay is a good option.

  • Do you have to have sharp fingernails if you want to use your fingers? My fingernails are blunt and I've tried making japanese stars puffy but it either stuffs up or turns out flat-ish

  • @audreyeatworld You don't need nails to do this at all! I can't really pinch it with my forefinger and thumb because my nails are too long to grasp the little paper in that manner. The actual preferred way is to pinch with your fingers. But there are other options as well if you want to mimic the fingernail technique I showed here. You can either use a coin or another thin, but blunt object. Like the back of a pair of scissors.

  • I am following to the "T" of your video, but the shape when I start folding is not consistent for some reason...I don't have a clue as to what I am doing wrong...

  • What do you mean by not consistent?

Does the paper end up as a different length than mine? or does the shape not come out the same way? I can try to help you out, just tell me when things start going "wrong"

  • @Xiakoda Well, I think the problem is the shape isnt staying consistent as a I wrap around it. Plus, I thin it has to do with me not pressing but not creasing firmly when you slip the knot through just before you start wrapping the strip around. I have a cutter that I use to cut the strips so, most of the time, they are the same length. Some strips are thick at the top and thin at the bottom. But, the two you have pointed out are the main issues in depth.

  • i cant order paper online so do u think micheals or ac moore will have the paper?

  • You can always try there. But don't be discouraged if you can't find the specific paper you want. You can always buy nice colored paper from those places and cut them to size. I do it all the time with pastel paper.

  • @Kittyzink I think if they don't have it, cut it out from wrapping paper. That's what I do.

  • yay. I just got my lucky star paper in the mail i ordered 10 days earlier and i have over 400 strips to make them :)

  • My friends are dutch and don't understand the vid because it's English. I turned it into a Dutch version, because this was the best tutorial I could find XD

  • Thank you! :)

I'm happy you could help your friends figure this out!

  • I made 365 of them for my boyfriend on our 1º dating aniversary (L)

  • there easy to make... just takes lots of time........

  • lucky?!

  • wow

  • Gee! I made 50 of them! thx

  • whats the music?

  • If you dont want to buy (expensive) Paper, you could just buy coloured Printerpaper (if you have a cutting machine) print on a sheet u wont use for drawing the Lines on it (Like 0.9cm, if you use a4 use it "Broad" so u get more stripes), you will get 33 stripes per A4 sheet, and a 50 pack of COLORED sheets costs like.. lets say 3 to 5 US$ so, you get for 3 to 5 bucks 1650 (!!!) stripes

  • i cant get it to work!!! grr! I'll just keep practicing

  • how long is the strip of paper? i tried doing it but i cant seem to finish! boo hoo for me.. on the last step (making the sides) when i try pressing it, it spoils everyhing? how can i cope with this? im desperate to do this! please help.. thank you..

  • what song it this

  • Thank you!

All the websites were confusing me.

Your tutorial was easy to follow.

  • are you using regular construction paper, or is it a specific paper that you are using?

  • lilies7 - I am using special origami paper made to make lucky stars. I listed the site where I got it from in the info box to the right.

However, you can use construction paper to make these. it's just a bit more difficult to pinch later on.

I like using regular notebook paper to make these, the lines that are on there are the perfect size to make them. :)

  • thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you can also cut up magazine paper into 16 pieces long way and tape to pieces together and make the star :D:D construction paper works too but its not as easy as magazine or origami paper :D:D hope that helps

  • Your tutorial is great! :D Thx very much!^^

  • Your Welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

  • This is so awesome... I have a local store that sells them, so I made a bunch. Thank you for sharing! ^_^. I already made 20! :D.

  • Great! Share the knowledge with your friends! These stars always bring a smile to people's faces.

  • i dont get it one side ofmy star has layers so i cantpinch it?

  • Layers? Can you describe it a bit more? I'm trying to understand what you're getting at.

If you're talking about one side having a flap, that's normal. You can pinch it if you want, it just might be a bit more difficult to pinch if you start on that side.

  • I've noticed that the people on youtube showing how to make really good stars don't tuck it through the folds each time like the instructions say to do. That's good info. Thanks!

  • I love these things, a friend used to make then im primary school and i never got the nack of it lol

What dimentions are the strips of paper ?

  • OMG YOU HAVE A NEW MOON BRACELET ON!!!! (Is it it looks like a crystal heart and a wolf?)

Thanks for the tutorial really helpful :)

  • Yes it is Bella's Bracelet. I bought it when it first came out. :) It's super cute!

And thank you for the comment! Enjoy making lucky stars!

  • :O

    Whered you get it?

  • I got it through Stephanie Meyer's website, their gear that they were selling before the last book came out. You can find other copies of it on ebay or etsy.

  • how many lucky stars you need to fold for friendship, luck, and love?

  • I do not know the answer to that one, I will look it up for you though. I've never heard of that. :)

  • This is awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You're good. Mine always look really stupid. D=

  • Keep trying! Mine always came out sloppy too, but I kept trying and got better through time. :)

  • The "follow the angles" step was very simple and helpful! Thank you. Your tutorial was the first to teach me how to successfully make one of these little guys

  • i love this.

I want to make a lucky star.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Wow... What are you doing with all those stars???

  • It's really fun to use strips of magazines, junk mail, newspapers, leftover wrapping paper, etc to make these. A glass dish of magazine lucky stars makes an interesting decoration without buying anything--just reusing the junk around your house. Nice video!

  • Loved this one... I wanted to buy some paper from the store you shared but fortunately I found a couple store in my city where it's sold. For those in Mexico City the store is Young Art and you can find one at Pabellon del Valle and another one in that mall in Polanco where there's a costco.

  • Thank you so much for sharing that information. :) Have fun making your lucky stars! ^^

  • can u help me u know when u pinch it or ya to makethe pionty parts right every time i do it it come out wrong i do everythin right until there i get soo mad plzz help me out

  • I was having the same problem and realized that I was always either folding the star too much (making creases) or too loosely (so that it fell apart). The key is to continuely press the star while wrapping the paper around, but never creasing it. THEN, when you make the indentations, they come out perfect.

  • were do you buy the paper in canada??? or anywere i have no idea

  • You should try online. If you expand the info on the right column, I listed where I bought mine and other tips on how to find online stores to buy them. Paper craft stores and some bookstores sell paper as well.

But you don't have to have that certain type of paper. You can use just about any paper to make these stars. If my camera works soon, I'll make another video on making them with regular paper. :)

  • ahh.. i need fingernails!! I was wondering where i was going wrong!

  • Aww. I only do it that way because it's easier for me. Try pinching the sides, if you'd rather poke the sides in, try using a small coin like a dime or some small thin blunt object.

  • Thank you all for the comments and views! :)

I'll be posting a new video up with different types of paper and neat things to do with these cute stars!

  • Wow, that is so cool. I was wondering what the measurements of the strip of paper you start with are. I have access to a ready supply of paper and I really just need to know how small I should cut it.

  • 15 cm x 0.8 cm

    :]

  • Thanks!

  • where can i buy that paper?

  • book store.

  • If you expand the info on the right hand corner, I give a link to where I bought that paper from.

  • where can i buy that kind of paper i looked every were i live in canada scarbrough and i make it with construction paper but i really want the paper that is right so can u tell me were to buy it?

  • i got the hexagon look but when you are folding it how do you get it to stay as a hexagon?

    please reply ☺ ☻ ☼ ♠ ♥ ♦ ♣ ♪ ♫

  • Okay, If you were following along with the video, you got to the 1:00 marker. When you get to the end of your paper you have a flap sticking out. take that flap and keep going around as much as you can so it at least reaches a bit further than halfway across the last fold. Take the flap and tuck it into the pocket of the hexagon. Make sure to re-watch it and pay attention to the 1:00 marker the most for your situation. :) I hope that helps, and if not you can always ask another question. Thx!

  • I can't make these :C

I can make it to the pentagons, but I can't push it in.

My fingernails aren't long enough, or I just fail at origami.

  • You can also try pinching in the sides. Just take a hold of a corner with your thumb and index finger and push two of the sides in at the same time.

You can also try using a object like a quarter or dime as well. :) See if that helps you out. :D

Keep trying, I know you'll do it.

  • Forgot to say, it's easier if you start on the flat sides first. the ones that have no break to them. :)

  • Thanks for the help :D

  • thanks i just buy one yester day

i tryed to make one a lot of it but it wasnt good

  • Just keep trying. It took me a while to get the hang of it. Practice helps! :)

  • canyou use construction paper or will it rip easily?

  • You can use construction paper. But you have to be really careful when you do the first loop tie. that's when it can rip easilly. but it's possible. :)

  • I added the website where I purchased the paper I am using and also the name. Just expand the "more info" section to find out where I got it! :)

  • very helpful, thank you! the quality of the camera is ok, you can see the stars in the bacground sharp and your hands blurred, so you should have your hands further away ;)

one question, is that normal paper? I want to start doing this, but need to find the right material! if that's paper, it's really shiny

  • Thankies. I will keep that in mind next time. :)

And that paper that I'm using is paper specially made for creating lucky stars. I just found a shop through Google for it. :)

I use all sorts of paper though. You just have to keep it slim and semi-long. You can always experiment too! Thanks for the vote and comment! <3
