  • she looked the best in Scarlet's Walk era! ♫

  • You are obviously BRAND NEW to Tori if you even THINK that she has EVER NOT played that Bösendorfer! Or lip-synced.

    Get a hobby.

  • 0:47... I love her:)

  • she looks like angel, because she Is an angel, acutally:)

  • She looks like an angel. I like her normal clothes rather than wearing flashy sparkle weird space suits which came later in her career. She appears to be playing the piano but it is really weird and rare to hear her play against pre-recorded background tracks.

  • I heart her!!!! An artist with pure talent, passion & honesty to her craft. More power to you TORI!

  • i'm in love

  • this is a quite weak performance from her and I think it's because she isn't comfortable to fakeplay the piano. The performance would've been a lot better if they just let her play for real :p

  • It's got to be difficult for such a soulful artist to conform her intuitive skill into a promotional box. It's like caging the ocean, a horrible failing. Tori is brilliant and needs no promotion but it's sweet of her to play along for us mortals.

  • It's obvious she IS playing the piano, but the backing track is turned up over it and the piano mic turned down thus just being able to hear the backing track.

  • Tori never fakes playing the piano.... sorry but that is absolutely ridiculous....

  • @rondra32 no she doesn't. the base line of the percussion and the other instruemtns are been playebacked, but the piano and the voice aren't.

  • tiene los ojos como yo...

  • It's easy to see why some of us get so obsessed...

  • this woman sings with her soul

  • wonderful!

  • she's not playing the piano on this performance :D

  • yeah she is

  • fionasapple - what???? She always plays live when she's live, there's added background music, yes....but she IS playing.

  • uhh no

    the piano is not miced

she's singing live, but the piano is not live. It's the producers or whatever of the show that decide. It's expensive to get technicians in to set up for live performances, so the piano was not set up to be played live.

  • Yeah, she is playing the piano. It's clearly different from the 101 remix to A Sorta Fairytale you're thinking of.

  • sorry to disappoint you. but she REALLY isn't.

at the very beginning she has her hands on the very right of the keyboard which would produce a much lighter sound than is produced here. she plays it with the lighter sounds in performances and that's y she does this here.

it's also VERY obvious at 3:59 where she completely lets go and then notices that the music hasn't completely faded yet and puts her hands back on :D

    i hadn't seen that b4. quite funny :D

  • Actually, you're right, that's the exact same piano track as on the 101 mix. I wonder why they did that. It's probably that this was right after the release, and she hadn't had time to get used to the revised versions of all the songs. Also, the 101 mix was basically the first version to hit British radio, and it has slightly different arrangement than the original song. That's why you see her confused at the end. The producers could have stepped in and replaced the audio afterwards, too.

  • THANK U! there's really no point in denying it or attempting to defend her. it's not like she does it a lot :D

also sometimes it's done due to technical difficulties that are the fault of the people running the show themselves.

  • I actually don't know if she's ever done it other than this. I've actually noticed that she seems to not like playing on television a whole lot. but when she's in concert, among fans, there's nothing like it.

  • Actually she is, though the piano might not be miced, she is still hitting the keys. There is definitely a playback, however she is still playing along to it regardless. And, you are right this hardly ever happens

  • well, you can be singing into a mic that's turned off with prerecorded vocals in the background. It would still be considered a lip-sync. nevermind...

  • @fionasapple Sorry, I meant playing the song in a very literalist sense. Meaning, the artist singing along to pre-recorded vocals would be lip-syncing to an observer, but the artist is singing the song , physically.

  • The background with the percussion and guitars is definetly playback, but I think the voice and piano aren't.

  • Ooh, thank you!

  • Very great, never seen this before, thanks!
