When Ayah 54 of Surah al-Ma'idah was revealed the Prophet pointed to Abu Musa al-Ashari and said They are the people of this man

Narrated by al-Hakim in al-Mustadrak (who stated this hadith is Sahih according to the standards of Imam Mulsim) Ibn Asakir in Tabyeen al-Kathib al-Muftari, at-Tabariyy in his tafseer, at-Tabaraniyy in Mu`gam al-Kabeer, Ibn Abu Hatim in his tafseer, Ibn Said in al-Tabaqaat, and cited in other works like al-Haythami in Majma`iz-zawa`id

Also the Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him said that: “Verily, Constantinople shall be conquered, its commander shall be the best commander, and his army shall be the best army”. Related by Bukhari, Ahmad, al-Hakim and others with sahih chain of narrators.

Muhammad Al-Faatih conquered it and he was Maturidi in Aqeedah.

Asharis and Maturidis are the majority of this nation, they are Ahlu Sunnah.
