Great job. Being a fan of Lovecraft I always thought this song would make a good video. I didnt know somebody made a film version of 'Call of Cathulhu' and black & white at that. Oh hell yea, gotta check this out. Thanks
Great song, and a great movie. If only Hollywood could produce something half as creepy, instead of a bunch of CGI crap. It takes a certain kind of mind to really understand Lovecraft.
I do believe this song is actually more about Nyarlathotep. He is the Haunter of the darkness and also Crawling Chaos Under Ground was the term used for him.
I've watched the movie, it's a great adaptation from the short story, the fact that it is in black and white and with no voices made it kinda interesting.. but i would love to see an actual movie made out of this
Glad I´m not the only one who realised this is the song that should be called The Call of Ktulu (I know it´s supposed to be Cthulhu, but it´s called Ktulu on the Ride the Lithning CD). Loved it!
Well I think The Call of Ktulu from Metallica already has that great feeling that suits the story! When I read the story while listining that song, I almost lost my sanity....
I may be wrong but I think All Nightmare Long is also inspires by lovecraft. The Hounds Of Tindalos, to be specific. Great video, good work, five stars.
"For an instant the ship was befouled by an acrid and blinding green cloud, and then there was only a venomous seething astern; where - God in heaven! - the scattered plasticity of that nameless sky-spawn was nebulously recombining in its hateful original form, whilst its distance widened every second as the Alert gained impetus from its mounting steam. "
Cthulhu-purists, tell me: How can the great Cthulhu be killed by a fishing boat? The thing whose rising should mean the end of mankind... Dead! By a FUCKING BOAT!!!!!?!?
It could also be refering to shadow over innsmouth, in which the citizens are also half-fish thing and half-human. Many ways to interpret it i suppose, but yes, i think the video goes very well with the music.
It's hard to imagine what the creatures in Lovecraft's works look like when they are described as so horrible the sight of them makes you lose your mind
This is not a song about Cthulhu but Dagon, a Lovecraft's novel talk about people on a island, mid-fish mid-humans, and the practice the cult of Dagon, the "thing that should not be"
The Call Of Cthulhu, made by H.P. Lovecraft. I must admit that this movie is kinda creepy and even little scary, but the movie is no match for the book, and other Lovecraft stories, pure art must say.
I like his stuff too, but he uses the word "mad" and "madness" a bit to much, and he always starts with talking about something that is indescribable, and then he starts describing it...
@nowayandnohowx Agreed. He uses ''Indesrcibable'' a litlle too much. Allmost like a way to avoid having to write a good description of a creature or a place and things like that.

Raider2845 6 months ago
@Raider2845 The song for the most part can be related to many of the Great Old Ones, although I do agree that Nyarlathotep is one of the closer ones.
I do have to point out, Messenger of Fear is an obvious homage to Cthulhu's influence on dreams, as well as Lurking Beneath the Sea.
All in all, great song paying homage to an amazing author.

the song is about the story Shadows over Innsmouth, but Dagon and Call of Cthulhu and Shadows over Innsmouth all connect in the same realm.

The thing that should not be by metallica. It was written about Cthulhu as James Hetfield is a huge fan of H.B. Lovecraft, hope that helps.
