I personally dont give a damn if you served in the military what I care is what is going to be done for us to live better. I pay my taxes so others go to war. Isn't it true that before the missile crisis, the US had missile bases in Turkey but after the crisis they didn't have those bases anymore? Isn't that really what happened and doesn't that mean that JFK presided over the weakening of America, having been bullied by the USSR.
The quiet removal of missiles from Turkey did not lessen our nuclear threat to the USSR -the missiles near my home in wheat fields of Montana were just as capable of annihilating Moscow in 15 minutes. On the other the Soviet commander in Cuba had orders to fire the nukes if we tried to take them out. Furthermore US conventional weapons superiority forced the USSR to sacrifice its GNP in military weapons catchup a factor to its massive economic collaspe ending communism.

The Soviet Union fell sir, and America is still standing tall and proud without a need for those nukes in that area anymore. People claim Kennedy's decision was weak and he was "bullied" into it, when his administration (and people who make sense) actually realized it was a better alternative to a nuclear holocaust. Which is better: NO world, or Turkey without nukes? lol
