I could relate to MP's ALIR album so much..every song was amazing and they all touched me. I wish Jason hadn't split but I understand why..I'd be pissed if I didn't get any credit either...but imagine what their next album would've been like?? Sure would've beat Anywhere But Here...........
The truth is mayday has always and will always be good live... with or without jason. But jason is the better lyricist and vocalist. But regardless they are still amazing. But not quite as amazing as before. and AliR will never get old
For the record: Jason "left" Mayday Parade. He was kicked out. Jason WANTED to write all the songs, he wanted all the vocals, he wanted more guitar parts, (in short he wanted complete creative control) so they kicked him out. Even if he had stayed with Mayday, they would not have been the same as ALIR. They pretty much would have been Go Radio....

Just saying, Jason Lancaster cannot scream. I appreciate the passion he is putting into this song, and I love Go Radio, but this is definately not one of their winners.

For me their lyrics sound more cheesy and less meaningful without jason. The duel singing effect was amazing, but jason clearly had the most talent imo. I can't stand derek by himself.
I agree with what you said. Also just listen to the instrumentals (mostly in the verses); they sound wayyyy way different than they used to w/ Jason in the band. Now the instrumentals are predictable--average. Something you'd expect from an average 'alternative' band. MP sounds more like this type of average band now. They didn't whatsoever before, they were different. Now they're just average.
That's a shame it's not around anymore, it's quite a good song. If I had known about Go Radio back then I would have downloaded this song for sure. :(

i still love mayday parade but i notice a huge difference. the first time i would listen to a mayday song when i first found out about them i literally would stop everything i was doing and just listen. i've never heard lyrics like jason's in my life and his voice is unlike anything else. i miss him so much in mayday but go radio is amazing. he can do anything he wants with the talent he has. (but mayday parade isn't the same without him:/ )
Jason was the entire reason they built up their fan base to begin with! Hardly anybody knew he even left the band! That's why they sold so many copies. If they hadn't had the original fan base that they built up with him, the new record would have been tossed aside. That's why they completely wrote him out of the bio on the website. They don't want people knowing he left because he was a huge part of how good they were.

Jason wrote all their songs from ALIR. Every line, every instrument, everything. He's the only reason for the success they've had, without him, Mayday Parade is just another band.
nobody noticed he left because he left just as Mayday finished recording A Lesson In Romantics. Mayday was most known for a lesson in romantics, his voice was pretty much the thing that made mayday unique.

@laydbck777 Jason was a back up THIRD guitar, back up vox, and the songwriter for the band. The only thing they really lost was the songwriter. I prefer Brooks guitar over Jason's anyday. And granted jason is an excellent writer. But for God's sake, GO RADIO IS GREAT WITH JASON AND MAYDAY PARADE IS GREAT WITH JAKE AND DEREK. They are seperate bands. Not every band has to write like Go Radio to be good. And dont call yourself a MP fan if you're going to ditch them when Jason leaves.
even anyone with no musical knowledge can tell jason was the biggest influence on maydays lyrics, and sure he isnt selling the tickets and albums mayday is right now but they would have been nothing without the magic of dereck and jason together. jason doesnt even have an album out yet, give go radio some time, his music speaks for itself one on one dereck cant compare

I could relate to MP's ALIR album so much..every song was amazing and they all touched me. I wish Jason hadn't split but I understand why..I'd be pissed if I didn't get any credit either...but imagine what their next album would've been like?? Sure would've beat Anywhere But Here...........

For the record: Jason "left" Mayday Parade. He was kicked out. Jason WANTED to write all the songs, he wanted all the vocals, he wanted more guitar parts, (in short he wanted complete creative control) so they kicked him out. Even if he had stayed with Mayday, they would not have been the same as ALIR. They pretty much would have been Go Radio....

For me their lyrics sound more cheesy and less meaningful without jason. The duel singing effect was amazing, but jason clearly had the most talent imo. I can't stand derek by himself.

I agree with what you said. Also just listen to the instrumentals (mostly in the verses); they sound wayyyy way different than they used to w/ Jason in the band. Now the instrumentals are predictable--average. Something you'd expect from an average 'alternative' band. MP sounds more like this type of average band now. They didn't whatsoever before, they were different. Now they're just average.

i still love mayday parade but i notice a huge difference. the first time i would listen to a mayday song when i first found out about them i literally would stop everything i was doing and just listen. i've never heard lyrics like jason's in my life and his voice is unlike anything else. i miss him so much in mayday but go radio is amazing. he can do anything he wants with the talent he has. (but mayday parade isn't the same without him:/ )

Jason was the entire reason they built up their fan base to begin with! Hardly anybody knew he even left the band! That's why they sold so many copies. If they hadn't had the original fan base that they built up with him, the new record would have been tossed aside. That's why they completely wrote him out of the bio on the website. They don't want people knowing he left because he was a huge part of how good they were.

Three simple points:
1-New MP CD is forgetable
2-Mayday Parade-welcome to the land of mediocrity where all pop punk bands come to fade
3-Compare the lyrics from MP's new CD versus Go Radio's CD- ummmm-yeah....finally obvious proof whom (Jason) wrote MP's songs in the past. Their is a noticeable pattern to how Jason write's songs folks.
*In the end its a shame things didn't work out-together they could have been so much bigger/better.

@laydbck777 Jason was a back up THIRD guitar, back up vox, and the songwriter for the band. The only thing they really lost was the songwriter. I prefer Brooks guitar over Jason's anyday. And granted jason is an excellent writer. But for God's sake, GO RADIO IS GREAT WITH JASON AND MAYDAY PARADE IS GREAT WITH JAKE AND DEREK. They are seperate bands. Not every band has to write like Go Radio to be good. And dont call yourself a MP fan if you're going to ditch them when Jason leaves.

but obviously theyre going to outsell go radio when theyve been around for so much longer & have made such a big fan base because of how long theyve been around. and i really do have to say that since jason left the band, mayday parades songs are lacking a lot. it was a creative element that jason put into it...i believe he really did write all of the songs..because they really arent as good anymore without him.

Jason leaving MP and claiming they were not giving him credit for songs was just a thinly disguised excuse.He was in "kid named chicago" as the lead singer. then he joins into MP and he is co singer with Derek and obviously wanted more lime light.
