@VvFrostyvV Fate zero is a prequel telling about the events of the previous holy grail war. The fourth holy grail war to be precise. The war that shiro particapates in is the fifth holy grail war of Fate/Stay night.

@VvFrostyvV well it's not an anime, but a direct sequel to the visual novel where all the servants from the grail war of fate/stay night survived. But in reality this is because avenger(a dark servant) is manipulating the grail to keep the war going for a magi girl named Bazette(who is lancer's original master)

@theeleventhprince in hollow ataraxia servant avenger creates a false fifth grail war based on the data in his memories from the third war. As such the servants of the fifth heaven's feel: Saber, Archer, Lancer, Rider, Berserker, Caster and Assassin are back. So basically Saber is able to have a relationship with shirou(who is actually avenger pretending to be him or maybe possessed by him). The only people who arent' in zero are True Assassin, Kotomine and Zoken.

@Birdyroxas Karen is a member of the burial agency of the church, she is sent to fuyuki city to take over as moderator of the grail war. But in terms of being avengers master, no, she's not. Bazette is avengers master(avenger replacing lancer who was taken from her by Kirei)

So basically Karen is the moderator or mediator of the grail war.
