haha. this thing is so underpowered, that it seemed to remain at full thrust takeoff power throughout this whole video.....no thrust reduction at all. bless them, they are beautiful aircraft though :)

"Powerful" is not generally a superlative used to describe the A340-200/300.

It's difficult to judge the "power" of the takeoff from a vid, suffice to say that it has been claimed that the -200/-300 climb only because of the curvature of the Earth. These aircraft were designed for range and economy, not for power. Things have improved since this series was produced.

Everyone seems to criticize this plane for poor climb performance, but that looks like a normal climb to me. Was the plane fully loaded with passengers?  Great video!!!

I've heard that the A340-313X has better climb performance then the A340-300 or -200. Is this true? It looks like it from this video, but then this flight obviously was not full. Great video!

@plutocuteguy LOL same here. I fly to HKG-YVR and vice versa on a regular basis and the flight is always crammed. I tried CX888 and 889 once and they were even more full! I guess we can blame that on the really poor frequency. There are like 2 flights daily. These flights are relatively empty though, on September when I flown on CX839. I hope you were on the new econ in an isle seat or in business class...
