  • i think the whole thing was doomed from the first missed "WHOA"

Couldn't resist pointing out your spelling bloopers .

1972 Hee Haw blooper- Gloom, Dispare(despair) skit is haulted (halted)when Grandpa Jones messed up his lines.

Just in fun. Thanks for your post.

  • That Grandpa Jones was a character. Still miss him today.

  • @bubbasouth69 I love his new word!! Should'a caught on!!

  • The phrase is supposed to be "if it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all"

but since the music cuts off right before "bad luck",

it shows that these guy don't even have that.

  • RESUCKATATION!

  • Correct spelling: Despair

  • I found this last night, and watched it this morning just so I could begin my day the right way. <3

  • i still stand by my earlier statement that it should be mouth to mouth recreation

  • Does anyone know what the final verse was?

  • LOL!!!!! Resuckitation! HAHAHA!!

  • Omg that was too funny !

  • This skit always made me laugh, particularly the howling. But this blooper just makes it all the better. I love how Grandpa Jones and Roy Clark have their own little laughing spat and then watching how Gordie Tapp and Archie Campbell try to keep a straight face thereafter is also a hoot!! And then when the recorded music is cut off and they all bust a gut is just hilarious!! Thanks for posting this!!

  • RESUCKITATION????!!!!!!

  • So much of what made this show funny was the bloopers. This is a classic example.

  • LMFAO

  • It's amazing how a little blooper can cheer you up.

  • Roy sure got a kick out of Grandpa.

  • Believe it was 'mouth-to-mouth resuscitation'.

  • I wonder if Boregard or Beauford (One of those dogs on Hee Haw got up and left because of them singing "Gloom Despair And Agony On Me." Maybe. Lol!

  • That was funny! I don't care who you are!

  • always was lip synced, except for their parts

  • Sthufferin sthuckitation!

  • Doesn't get better than this

  • Mouth to mouth resuckatation?

  • AH HA! I always suspected Gloom-Dispair was lip-synced. That's okay, I still love it anyway!

  • @md65000 It was lip-synched. Roy, Archie and Grandpa (and maybe Gordie) did the vocals with Stringbean providing the howls.

  • We'll never know what Grandpa was trying to say and what Roy would have said:(

  • That was great. Love how Roy Clark breaks up and tics Grandpa off. Used to watch this with my Dad all the time. Wish he could see this.

  • That take was doomed as soon as the dog walked off.

  • After going through TV.com, I know now that early 1972 was when they started Gloom Despair and Agony on Me. (I figured out that the singing was done by Roy Archie and Grandpa with Stringbean doing the groans).

I recall though the years in this segment that Archie, Gordie and George Lindsay went shoeless. Does anyone else remember who else?

  • @Lupton2000 i do, it was one of the few my mom &dad would wach with me,

it wason for a long time.

  • Does anyone remember what show this is from? I thought it was 1973 in which they started doing the Gloom Despair skit.

  • i always thought it was mouth to mouth recreation
