  • are there no limit to how many you can catch?

  • @gqkev12

Yes you were allowed 8 fish per man to take home back then and 14" size limit. I'm not sure what they are these days.

  • @gqkev12 14in and the limit right now is one a day but the limit in october is 4

  • What boat are you on?

  • @bostich36

The boat was the"MissLynn" Out of the Shark river in NJ.

  • awesome

  • nice video dude! tog fishing is one of the best and tricky to catch and to eat as well.

do u have more video's at utube bro?thanks and happy toging : )

  • @striperhooks

Look on my channel on youtube.............. b1111968

  • Where have you been for the past few years???

  • Living life, How do you know me?

  • how heavy rods do you use

  • @joeyferreira100 I use a "Cape Fear" 3/4 - 3 oz. 14 - 30 lb Heavy 7' fast action rod. Its an octagon shaped rod.

  • What did you use as bait?

  • @tasmania105 We used green crabs, cutting off the legs and cutting the whole thing in half, on the larger ones. tiny ones were used whole.

  • are they good to eat ?

  • @tumadoireacht they taste like lobster

  • @tumadoireacht I think they are one of the better eating fish out there. Good solid meat, nice and white.

  • do you or does anyone know of a good place to spearfish for tog in nj

  • 10lbs myass

  • nice fish. what was your bait?

  • one time i was using a strike king spinner and caught a 19 inch long black fish.. before he jumped i thought a i was realling in a log!!!

  • when i go fishing for tautogs im never able to set the hook and when i feel a hit it always seems like i get stuck on the bottom. so how do i set the hook on tautogs correctly?

  • after a few bites next time it hits yank up rite away

  • After it does a consecutive bite and "takes the bait", I yank it up and you have to keep reeling. Tautogs tend to go underneath rocks after they eat the bait so you can not give them the chance to do that. If the fish does go underneath the rock, it's a hassle to undo the line and make the jig again. I have been blackfishing for about 4 years now.

  • thanks

  • There's a big Black Fish in Philly.

  • wheres this reef at by the hook and how deep is it there also how far off shore??

  • I'm living in Cali and i miss the south Jersey shore life more than anything! Babes at Longport and babes on the boardwalk at OC. Blue crabs FTMFW! And GE inlet flounder and weakies! Those offshore wreck fished Tog's are nice as hell too!

  • my biggest blackfish was 14 pounds lol i caught it when i was 5 years old

  • nice fish my best and only was about 8 pounds

  • This boat is out of Perth Amboy? I love to go fishing and just begun. I live in the next town of Perth Amboy. I like to go fishing at their Pier, but I haven't caught anything yet. Nice video. I'd like to know more info about this boat and such. Thanks !!

  • i love tog fishing one of the best bottom fishing there is =]

  • I agree with you. Thanks for the comment.

  • Been fisdhing my whole life but did tautog fishing for my first time just a week ago.. alot different then the fluke and striped bass im used to.... but like anything else i guess u have to keep going to get the hang of it.. great video... where in nj?? im right off barnegat inlet

  • Yes there is a feel you need to hit them. I love the black fish. We go out of Perth Amboy, we do most of our fishing just down from sandy hook. Off the reef along there. Thanks for the comment. My folks have a place on LBI.

  • great place.. we are so lucky to live on the shore, i cant imagine living away from the ocean..

  • Ive seen some weird things with tautog heads too, just some misshapen fish. Some species of fish all look the same, Blacks are each very individual though.

  • Yes they are!! They are 1 of my favorite fish to catch. Such fun to fight them out of the rocks. Thanks for the comment.

  • Nice fishing guys. I fish mostly southern Jersey. When you declaw the green crabs, you guys take the claws all off or leave them on?

    Tautoging is awesome.

  • I take only 1 off just before it goes on the hook. The other guys take all the legs and claws off. We try everything, as you know. Glad you enjoyed the video.

  • Great! Nice show! Next time maybe ditch the music and let us just enjoy the sounds of the beautiful winter day out on the water.

  • i can re add it with no music for you...look for it. Thankz for the comment.
