Many of those who want rid of the BBC have no sense of historical or global context, no ideological radar, and lap up the right-wing messages of newspapers like the Mail as if the opinions of those newspapers are 'common sense worker' opionions when they're merely business class opinions.

The only thing I don't like about the BBC is the Friday/Saturday prime time slots.. which will continue to dumb-down under the threat of commercialisation.

@AnagramISP No, but then they are not my customers and they would not be directly affected by me losing my job. I'm just some random office worker. If, on the other hand, my job was performing a valuable service in their community then yes, I would expect at least some of them to make their voices heard in some way. The BBC is invaluable, the existence of a non-commercially funded broadcaster is invaluable, and the other channels are just piss poor in comparison.

Considering BBC is a national radio broadcaster, their programming selection is one of the best in the world I reckon.

Which other countries has got show dedicated to non commercial music genres on their national radio channel. When I say non commercial I'm talking about things like DnB, dubstep, IDM...etc.

As much as I hate paying tv licence, when BBC gets it right quality of programme is very good.

Channel Four got 14Million from the Govt/us in 2007 and I'm happy that they had it for the same reason that I'm happy to pay my license fee.
