@carly9xo You could try to read some comments.. but Timotei is a japanese company that makes shampoos and such.. it is not a actually word in the japanese dictionary.. but in the early commercials (i have no idea if they still do it) they rubbed their hair like Konata does and said "timotei, Timotei, Timotei~" So.. it's actually just a commercial converted to anime.

@BlackDeath654 I can somehow explain it.. in the very early days it was all normal hair colors.. than they made like "Fantasy" animes where the girls had different hair and sexy outfits and such.. than next thing you know.. all the girls in animes have that.. fan service.. If you see a anime character with no bizzare hair or weird color than it it's too realistic.. Like in Clannad.. almost all of the girls had normal hair. but that was also a very serious anime.

Nagisa had normal hair, that's true, and so did her mother, but the Fujibayashi twins did not. Neither did the girls from the choir club, or Tomoyo, or Kotomi, or Fuko. Not even Sunohara's little sister had normal hair.

Just think of your favorite female character or male character with an unnatural hair color and then think of them with normal hair color. Kind of dull don't you think?

At times the color will reflect their personality, like red for hot tempered, blue for meek, etc and at other times to denote relationship like between the hiiragis but its mostly to display the main characters as vibrant and dynamic and reflect the cartoony or fantasy aspects in the show/comic

Her friend thinks it weird because konata is a high school senior and girls are supposed to get their periods by the age of 16 the latest, if their bodies are healthy. Later in the series, it's brought up that konata's mom died when she was really young so it's possible that her father never talked about that stuff with her, but you'd think she would have learned about it in school. Or maybe Konata just thinks its weird to talk about periods at all.
