I dont really get it? This is like being able to draw a box and put "superhero". If you were born female but lean more towards male put male. If you were born male and learn more towards female put female.
@mynamekeisha doesn't work that way with census unfortunately. though you choose this method, you are still designated male or female by whether or not you are registered with selective services. I applied for a census taking job which I received a call from the regional director telling me that I am not eligible for the job if I put male because I'm not registered. I'd have to put female to get hired. census works this way too
@mynamekeisha read a book watch Oprah, or Barbara Walters., If you are in between sexes, you are not male nor female, there should be a box for intersex at least since the numbers of trans people are HUGE..
@ Idyreal - Ok, just as an fyi, calling intersex and transgender the same thing is HIGHLY offensive to intersex people. Transgender is NOT the same as intersex (nor is it the same as transsexual). A transgender person may choose the life of the opposite gender but an intersex individual did not, they often have to live with attempting to figure out why people lied to them, why they have frequent trips to the ER, and WHAT they truly are. So please, do not group the 2 together. Thanks.
In 2000, the Census Bureau's then director, Kenneth Prewitt, issued a formal apology when it emerged that the agency had provided statistical data that was used by president Franklin Roosevelt to round up Americans of Japanese ancestry for internment during WWII.
I bet some of you didn't know that. Did you ? Of course not. It is not taught in school or told to you by the state run main stream media. Just hope your race isn't the one to be rounded up next time.
Although we did not win transgender inclusion on the 2010 Census, by making ourselves visible on this census in our own way, we'll have a better chance of getting LGBT inclusion on the 2020 Census. Let's make sure we all count!
So if the census is so important why are some address been skipped for harrassment later.

Transgenders need to fill out the form the same way everyone else should. 1 number and nothing else. Only the number of people in the house.
