I'm sorry for your lose, but when a horse becomes handicap and the vet bill exceeds the horses worth it is time to put the horse down. As a whole, Slaughter houses are good for the economy and horse industry. What people don't realize is the majority of these animals come to the slaughter house already beaten and neglected. I do agree that the process can be very inhuman and needs to be changed; however, a few days at a slaughter house is better then a life time of neglect and starvation.

my sisters horse was blind in one eye for over 8 years and blind in both for over 3 years... he passed away March 12, 2009 at the age of 25. He had no issues in his pasture, even with the pipe that went through the middle to the field. When he ran he would just lift his feet high and miss it. He had no problems being blind.

thats the east of asia for ya. they eat EVERY living thing. dogs, cats, fish, dolphins, whales, horses, monkeys, polar bears, other bears, penguins, dove and all other birds, rabbits, deer, cow, chicken, pig, all marine life, elephants, and endangered species. I may have missed a few. Pretty much the only animal they DON'T eat are humans (there once was an ancient cannibalistic tribe that did eat humans, but i dont think that was in asia)
She got blind. I "had" her for three years, and already the first year of mine with her she was blind on her right eye. However, during her summervacation in 2006 she started to loose sight on her left eye as well, and the veterinary said to the owners that it'd be better to put her down. Said and done. ( She was Blind) What I'm trying to point out specifically with this video is not the slaughtering for food, but for those who buy their kids a horse, and if it throws the kid of once (no matter how good this horse actually is or how bad the kid threated it) they send it to the slaughter and get a new one. Most people dont like slaughter(for horses and any other animal) because of the way they are slaughtered and how they are treated.If slaughter didnt exist,there would be millions and millions of animals out there that will more than likely never have a home because people like backyard breeders and people who breed their pets just for fun create more animals than there are homes for.I am for slaughter but only if the death is instant, and the animals dont suffer at anytime in their lives.
Well, she wasn't mine. My ridingschool owned her on the paper, but in practice she was more or less *my* horse. But as you see, on the paper she wasn't mine, so desicions however she should be put down or not, wasn't mine. She got blind at her left eye in 2003, and in august 2006 she also started to loose sight on her right eye, and that's when the veterinary decided she should leave earth, she was 18 at the time.

Damn my friend's horse was hit by a hummer last summer. The pen for the horse was left opened and it walked into the road and some stupid n****r hit the horse. R.I.P Black Stallion

It is a shame, horse meat commands a high price in European markets. It would only be fair to allow American horse raisers to compete in an open market. We have become like hindus that hold the cow sacred while many go to sleep hungry. What makes a horse anymore special than a cow. Stop the bovine equine species war!

my sisters horse was blind in one eye for over 8 years and blind in both for over 3 years... he passed away March 12, 2009 at the age of 25. He had no issues in his pasture, even with the pipe that went through the middle to the field. When he ran he would just lift his feet high and miss it. He had no problems being blind.

thats the east of asia for ya. they eat EVERY living thing. dogs, cats, fish, dolphins, whales, horses, monkeys, polar bears, other bears, penguins, dove and all other birds, rabbits, deer, cow, chicken, pig, all marine life, elephants, and endangered species. I may have missed a few. Pretty much the only animal they DON'T eat are humans (there once was an ancient cannibalistic tribe that did eat humans, but i dont think that was in asia)

She got blind. I "had" her for three years, and already the first year of mine with her she was blind on her right eye. However, during her summervacation in 2006 she started to loose sight on her left eye as well, and the veterinary said to the owners that it'd be better to put her down. Said and done. And thanks for caring :**

I have to say, please note this is not a negative comment, the least painfull way they do when they ''put a horse to sleep'' is a shot in the head.

Yes, this is how my horse was put down as well, and maybe it was the best for her. ( She was Blind) What I'm trying to point out specifically with this video is not the slaughtering for food, but for those who buy their kids a horse, and if it throws the kid of once (no matter how good this horse actually is or how bad the kid threated it) they send it to the slaughter and get a new one. And as well as you, this ain't a negative respond, just an answer to what I try to get through :)

Most people dont like slaughter(for horses and any other animal) because of the way they are slaughtered and how they are treated.If slaughter didnt exist,there would be millions and millions of animals out there that will more than likely never have a home because people like backyard breeders and people who breed their pets just for fun create more animals than there are homes for.I am for slaughter but only if the death is instant, and the animals dont suffer at anytime in their lives.

Well, she wasn't mine. My ridingschool owned her on the paper, but in practice she was more or less *my* horse. But as you see, on the paper she wasn't mine, so desicions however she should be put down or not, wasn't mine. She got blind at her left eye in 2003, and in august 2006 she also started to loose sight on her right eye, and that's when the veterinary decided she should leave earth, she was 18 at the time.

I'm not entirly sure, I wasn't present at the time they killed her. I have no idea where these horses go, but my ridingteacher said that do it at a animalhospital, so I doubt she was killed by slaughter.
