  • Fantastic I'm storing and it feeling great using it later for gardening.

    Thanks.

    ;0)

  • Very cool!

Why not add a sediment and uv filter and use it for all household uses?

  • Well if theres Rain why would you want to water your garden after?

  • Hi Mr Fundays. Rainfall is intermittent across the year. Even in temperate parts of the world like the UK we get drought of six weeks and more. The water stored in the underground tank when it's raining is used in the home (toilets and washing machine) all the time but in the garden, as you suggest, later when it is not raining.

  • Rainwater harvesting is so important. We are actually able to grow an herb garden on our rainwater tank. Google Living Rainwater Tanks. So cool.

  • no, harvested rain water gets taxed!!

  • Where are you living? In the UK and most countries we export to there is no tax on rainwater. Would like to know details. Thanks. Marcus

  • What?? we can't recirculate rainwater back into the tank after we're done using it?

  • Shouldn't it be safe to drink rainwater if you collect it directly from the sky without it touching anything, then boil it? It doesn't seem like you need this system...

  • Depends on the regulations in your country. In European countries, untreated rainwater can be used for flushing toilets, washing clothes and in the garden but not for kitchen or bathroom. Best way to purify is with Ultra Violet filters, and, with regular water quality testing, you can achieve drinking quality. Marcus

  • can rainwater harvesting can be done on existing house with water boring facility

    i Am from India

  • Yes. We have done many systems where rain is the primary source of water for the tank. Then if the rainwater runs out, a floatswitch in the rainwater tank can automatically turn on a pump in the borehole to add some water to the

  • great design, thx for showing me how it's done. Now to make my own!! Sorry but I won't be spending $3500 for something I can make for waaaaayyyyyyy less. Cheers though and good luck.

  • That's a good solution too!

  • How long is the harvested water able to last before evaportaing? 3 months ,etc.?

  • The water in an underground tank will last indefinitely. Because it's contained in a sealed tank there will be negligible evaporation. Certainly the spring rain will last through to summer so then it's just a case of calculating the tank size. If that's of interest you can see a tank size calculator for the British market at the rainwaterharvesting site. Regards, Marcus

  • @marcusbicknell Genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Surely some mistake....

  • this would be perfect for Oregon. it rains constantly here

  • The great thing about my business is that the more it rains the more you want to store water for use when it's not. At the same time, the LESS it rains the more you want store it too. God bless all Oregonians and may they not be swept away by a flood of rain or a tornado. Marcus

  • Fascinating. In Northern California, there's very little rain between May and October, I'd say. How long would this storage tank last without being replenished by rain? And, can you give me an idea of the price range? Thanks!

  • In the UK the tank is sized to give 3 weeks drought protection, so you would need more. Our 6500 litre tank and complete kit for a big house is 1717 US gallons and costs £2353 GB Pounds ($ 3550 US dollars) for a direct feed system and 15% more for a gravity feed smart header tank and controller (Rain Director). Marcus

  • is this thing available in Bangladesh?

  • Good eveing Pig560. We export to Bangladesh too.. My email address below. Marcus

  • is this thing avaliable in india?????????

  • @bumblebee010203. We can export to India and hope to have a distributor in six months. Marcus

  • It's nice to see this all packaged up. I had an above ground system installed last year. I would have liked a below ground tank, but I thought that would be too expensive. My system stores 2500 gallons and is used for laundry. It works like a charm. You can see my video as Rainwater system in Northern California. I added an overflow pipe based on comments.

  • You would really need a good 1,000 or more gallon tank to make this worth it.

  • Muy ingenioso, gracias por contribuir al cuidado del planeta. un abrazo desde Colombia. Exitos.

  • how will this system fare in cold climates?

  • Hi KingsView33. Well, how cold? If rain is running off the roof then rainwater harvesting works because the rest is underground, i.e. protected from freezing. If you have snow and ice on the house then no new wtare will flow into the tanks but in most circumstance you will still be able to pump water from the underground tank round the house. All the best, Marcus

  • If this is a "product" from some corporation.. it will be too costly versus doing it yourself.. also

What is this untruth about not drinking rain water?? Natural cisterns collect rain and flood runoff.. where do you think we Get our fresh drinking water??

Lazy People, just do it yourself.. One thing the video Does do is give you a good example of how to have one setup.

  • Hi DHMill. Quite right.

You can indeed install a rain system yourself, expecially if you like driving a digger. The hole is typically 6x4 feet and 6 feet deep.

In many countries of the world, rainwater storde like this is the only way to live. Right. In the UK we live in a namby pamby state which fails to see that such storage is exactly the same as nature.

    regards, Marcus

  • I completely agree with you on all points.. thus why i added the comment for the lazy people =]. The matter isn't digging the hole, its getting it done. And unlike digging your own well or building a cistern is labor or cost intensive, you are providing a solution for a fee. I understand business so i am not knocking your innovation by any means.. I think its a very brilliant business venture to get in to at this point in time.

  • several things it doesnt mention.

    1. Its a tank when it fills up where does the overflow go? So as not to cause backingup of the rainwater near your houses foundation.

    2. how easy is it to clean this filter or should it be replaced?

3.How much does the filter and system cost?

  • Hi Copefarms

    1) Yes, the underground storage tank needs a good drain or soakaway so that the water flow over the leaves takes the leaves with it.

    2) The filter is self-cleaning. No maintenance needed, but check once a year to be sure the soakaway is not backing up.

    3) Cost in the UK is 2000 to 3000 pounds GBP, say 3000 to 4500 Dollars USD for sizes between 2700 and 6500 litres including pump filter and accessories but not installation.

    regards

    Marcus

  • Great system, how much installed if done in USA?

  • Would you provide this service in Canada? Thanks!

  • We are looking for distributors in North America. We'll keep you informed.

    Thanks

    Marcus

  • Please let me know when it is available in Canada..I may be able to provide you some interested parties if you wish.
