We have for you the finest blues musician alive.....in our price range. So put your hands together and keep 'em where we can see 'em for Mr Calhoun Tubbs! LOL
This is so funny. I love Jim Carreys' character. "Alright, dirt bags. This is my final warnin'. Settle down or there'll be no showering with the lights off." LOL His facial expression is so funny after he says that.
Man this show used to be funny. It got out of hand when Jim Carrey became the focus of the show though. His brand of humor is fun in short bursts, but quickly becomes annoying. It's too bad though. There was a lot of talent in the ILC cast.
I know right? He's in an episode of "Martin" where he plays a jack legged preacher and in a few scenes, he makes his performances even funnier because he can't stop from laughing himself.
Now that was a comedy show. It hasn't been matched even today (Chappelle comes prettty close). It's a mystery to me why non of the characters were ever made into movies. You cannot possible tell me those corny head bobbing guys in SNL can even hold a candle to the home boys shopping network (mo' money doesn't count).
My fav is the "poetry from the hood". Can't seem to find that clip, but I almost died when J foxx was reciting Ice cube, "two in the morning I got a fat buaaager" lol
@sideburn260 I wouldn't call MadTV the spiritual successor of In Living Color. In Living Color was a Waynes project, with great talent on board, writing and acting.
MadTV however was a borrowed name & operated through Quincy Jones. The 1st 2 seasons of MadTV writers were given creative freedom, it showed & was actually funny. After that Quincy systematically fired the best talent on the show. It became stale.
In Living Color's nearest 'successor' came 10 years later with Chappelle's Show.
@sideburn260 Chapelle's show was edgy, funny, and primarily a "social satire" sketch comedy show through the eyes of a smart and funny black man in America.
Sound familiar? The mastermind behind In Living Color was Keenan Ivory Wayans, a funny & intelligent black man, and his 583 brothers and sisters, lol.
But I've always liked SNL, with the exception of the mid-80s (when Loren Michaels ran off to Canada on a coke binge) and the 95 season. It's the offspring of Second City (school, not show)
Great skit!! FYI: "that inmate over there loved his fellow man, on whole wheat and lettuce...aaaahaaa!". "What we have here is a failure to communicate"--memorable line from movie classic "Cool Hand Luke" featuring Paul Newman. "They call me Mister Tubbs" memorable line from movie classic "In the Heat of the Night" featuring Sidney Poitier.

@wlmason73 Sometimes Jim Carrey can be funny when he's witty or clever, but I don't particularly care for the slapstick or silly humor either.
