  • @sulatlalaki

Thx for the fact (Her being born in Russia) I wasn't really clear where she was born. :)

  • Brilliant!

  • Heh, funny. Everyone used to comment about Valentina's boobs and how big they were and how they'd make love to her. Now they comment on how good she plays the piece. Anyways, she plays good.

  • @CreepypastaMLP Anyone who comments on her breast size, in this context, is seriously immature and juvenile. Btw. She is Russian, born in Bryansk Oblast, Russia.

  • she could be part asian

  • you are not even asian, there's still hope

  • @renanrr95

She's Russian.... Russia is part of Asia, therefore, she is Asian.

  • @RavenHairedMaiden so there isn't hope :/

  • @renanrr95

    *nods* I'm sorry.

  • @RavenHairedMaiden

Russia is a large country. Part of it is in Asia, but part of it is also in Europe. Therefore, she is also European....

  • @opaldreamsofpeace

This is strange logic. Perhaps before making any more assumptions, one should ask exactly which part of Russia she is from.

  • @RavenHairedMaiden

    Exactly.

  • @RavenHairedMaiden Bryansk Oblast, Russia

  • why do their never focus the camera on her hands? she's beautiful, but...

  • @floatinroundmytincan

    but what

  • She needs to smileee :D

  • I had heard my friend play this in school just the other day, and it struck me straight away as being remarkably similar to the original Roller Coaster Tycoon theme (after all, I found out, the creator of the RCT theme based it on this waltz).

Ah, this sparks such pleasant memories of that game... <3

  • @MrTranceNinja I love Roller Coaster Tycoon! :D

  • @FrederickThePie It's a masterpiece of a game, indeed. <3

  • This music plays in Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry AND Chapulin Colorado!

  • Thumbs up if you remember this song in Tom and Jerry

  • it's like someone pressed fast-forward on her hands XD

  • Such a great piece of music for such a small woman.

  • But: where is Chopin????

  • Looks like a robot playing

  • Buggs Bunny *-*

  • The part that begins at 1:45 is hard. Been stuck on it forever ._.

  • soon that steinway and sons will say gebr perzina... *_*

  • Played very well....one of the best of Chopin...:)

  • i am learning it on piano!

  • soooooooooo fast!

  • I have to play this ( though a watered down version) for my piano lessons. Really beautiful peice.

  • ...Compare this inerpretation with Lang Lang... He's quite good, but Valentina is far, far better! Every note is clear... Her fortissimos are clean, and not muddy as Lang Lang's sometimes are. Her pianissimos are played with perfect precision. The finest of the modern pianists.

  • She's perfect !

  • Na rozdíl od pana Langa na tuto klavíristku je příjemné i pohledět. Je vynikající technikou i projevem - díky za její videa. Zejména interprtaci Chopinových skladeb

  • Sweet!

  • talented =)

  • man sounds sooo good... just the beginning made me feel so amazed

  • This is very well played! How old is Valentina? And I LOVE the dress! :)

  • 40 people are blieber!

  • I enjoyed the pedal in this because it wasnt too much, and many will play the faster places with much less pedal. i enjoyed this interpretation very much :)

  • terrível

  • @Commie221

She practices 9 hours a day so all you need is practice and patience. That's it

  • @DFutureBack No,

If she has love for piano, then she will do thrice the progress.

  • I really wish I could play this piece as well as she does. Amazing

  • technically perfect, but waaayy to fast! i think it takes the beauty out of the piece

  • Am I the only one who remembers of Buggs Bunny and Daffy Duck with this song?

  • @erikavilez so that´s where i heard it before! Man, i am now playing this, and it was a really mindfuck! Thanks!

  • @erikavilez nop

  • @erikavilez what's that ?

  • @erikavilez Nope, let's not forget Tom and Jerry!

  • @Eikendae Tom and his genius rendition of the second Hungarian rhapsody but Chopins friend Liszt?? Really liked the episode!

  • The syncopation against hands in the main theme BLOWS MY MIND when coupled with the rallentandi!! 0:26. That's how it should be done!

  • U FWINE GIRL!!

  • Lovely!

  • amazing:-0

  • She's really good.

  • Beautiful, pearly interpretation. Very light. I like it muchly.

  • amazing...

  • this song blows...its all piano!

  • @TheSeth2436t That's why it's not a song.

  • @TheSeth2436t ...what. The. Fuck.

  • @Llawliet246 I seriously hope hes kidding

  • @muffinsarelife1 Me too man >.>

  • is there any other camera? Only showing face? Where are hands?!

  • 37 people thouht that the dislike button was the this-I-like button

  • Unreal! At points it even looks like the video is sped up! Wow, her fingers look like spiders dancing around the piano keys! She's AMAZING!!!

  • @instrumentenfreak Wow...missed some notes, hunh? Can we watch you play it on youtube, in concert halls around the world, with millions of views? It would be quite a treat to hear you show us--and Valentina--how it's done!

  • @instrumentenfreak your a fucking moron

  • @instrumentenfreak Honestly, looking at the sheet music it's hard to keep up, if you get lost just give up. It is vivo, though, faster than allegro although a little slower than vivace still gonna be pretty close to 140 bpm if you care about tempo more than expression. As for missing the notes, I honestly doubt she would get away with that. If you don't have the score and think you can tell by hearing, there's a lot of trills, appoggiatura's and several repeats.

  • Way too fast

  • bravo.....

    very nice touch

  • in mother russia, chopin plays you!

  • She plays like a girl... wait, nevermind.

  • Sexy Performance

  • I am playing this for a piano competition in like 3 hrs. AHHHHHH!

  • Even if I think that the Grande Valse Brilliante don't express at all Chopin's soul it is a great composition and she is,as always, flawless.

  • @clod424 Haha, really? Everyone has a lighter side. This is Chopin's party side! It's refreshing, too, considering Chopin almost never lightens up, so I rather like it. :P

  • @throwscats Well Chopin wrote this composition when he was in Paris where his music wasn't really apriciated,at the time the best music for Paris were the Waltz and the music ballad in general,so he had to adapt to this kind of music writing this, infact after a concert with this composition he returned in his room and played his music repeatedly because his soul was hidden in his other composition,in other words this composition it's just food for the masses :)

  • @clod424 Ah, really? That's interesting, I did not know that. I do think that his later waltzes are much more sophisticated, but that goes for all of his work. I still think it's a beautifully written piece, and has a very exuberant, joyful feel to it. If nothing else, it's just well written, and pleasing, musically.

Still, I can respect your opinion, and I like your trivia on it you just gave me. Thanks for that.

  • @throwscats I agree this is a masterpiece indeed but i still prefer the ''darkest'' part of Chopin ^^ and you're welcome :D

  • @clod424 Yeah, I realized that after I commented, again. I need to think more before I say things, haha. I also prefer Chopin's darker side, and since you think this is a great piece, it looks like we're actually in total agreement with each other.

  • @throwscats But i have to explain something first:-You were right about saying that everyone have a lighter side in their soul and Chopin is not always sad or dark he have some compositions like Heroica, were he explain all is pride to his country, and it's not a ballad music for masses,AND it's not sad at all it's happy and beautifull so i think it's wrong saying that the Grand Valse Brillante is the lighter part of Chopin because he was forced to wrote it but Chopin is not always dark. :D

  • @throwscats But still Tristesse and Notturno are just the best :)

  • @clod424 Ah, Tristesse is one of my personal favorites. The nocturnes are absolute masterpieces and, I think, timeless. Don't forget the ballades, haha.

  • @throwscats eheheheheheheh :D

  • Thumbs Up If You Heard The Nokia Ring Tone :D

  • she is grande valse BRILLIANTE!

  • flawless

  • Brilliant, absolutely brilliant, how i wished i had learn to play the piano when i had the chance.

  • Brilliant!

  • The section beginning at 3:27 is absolutely superb, but there are parts nearer the beginning that I wish she had drawn out a little more instead of rushing over them. Overall a wonderful performance, very expressive.

  • i see birds in flight and playing on branches.. chickadees, then 1:20 water fowl, ducks. then peacocks in display.. 2:40 then pigeon toed.. geese? 3:30 swan pair waterborne

  • @carpetmonk really? i see snow snow and more snow.

  • @supersonicdrawer haha, i tried hearing snow... but i sit below the 30'th parallel.. so i only saw (what i would believe to be) a swirling crazy white out.. and laughing.. and that doesnt make sense, does it? laughing in blizzards? haha

  • @carpetmonk well... i wouldn't be thats for sure! but yeah it does kinda sound a bit witty.

  • Amazing!

  • im learning this song for my level 8 cm :D but i won't ever be able to put this much feeling and awwesumness into it

  • dayum

  • Sorry, but Dinu Lipatti's rendition of this masterpiece is absolutely light-years ahead of Valentina's... she is definitely a good pianist, but Lipatti is from another galaxy

  • I just found out the difference between a good piano player and not that great piano player, even though they might know how to play the same pieces. Probably a very beginner based thought.

  • I have a feeling that this video was fast forwarded at some certain parts!

  • Excelente Pianista!

  • russians dominate once again

  • *applause

  • I can do it, but i don't have a pussy, she owns me :x

  • Perhaps it's just me, but I believe that perhaps the Bosendorfer pianos that Valentina Lisitsa uses to perform with project the classical style better than the English Steinway pianos. Perhaps that's why Lisitsa's version sounds better, perhaps it is simply the piano. I believe that if this were a bosendorfer, the performance would sound much better. But that's just me.

  • @SilversTears

"English" Steinways ??!! - Mr S was very much an American

  • @SilversTears Ehh, the difference there would be miniscule at best. I wasn't talking about tonal quality or technical skill, both of which Miss Igoshina has in ample supply. I just find her decision to play Chopin with a very light, almost-Faerytale style doesn't really work for me. Chopin's pieces should have more boldness, more masculinity, and more struggle. Or at least, that's how I feel. My opinion is hardly universal.

  • @darconisbob Hey,dude, that's fine. There are plenty of opinions are hardly universal.:)

In my opinion,I reckon everyone has their own style to interpret a piece of music. After all, music is "alive".

Btw,I mostly listen to pop music,so I don't know much about classical music.I just find her performance superb.:D

  • While her interpretation is nice to listen to, this isn't very "Chopin" to me. The undercurrent of sublimated rage and sadness isn't there, and her light, gentle style comes at the expense of the stubbornly passionate surety that I have long associated with the composer. Chopin was an ardent patriot, and this piece was composed at a time when he was enjoying his celebrity and success, yet struggling with the pain and homesickness of exile. But I'm just not feeling that conflict here.

  • A feast of both sight and sound!

  • Valentina Lisitsa is much better!

  • @Koreangrl13 eeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr idiot.

  • @kylema1004 eeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrr hater/ bigger idiot ;)

  • @Koreangrl13 ... mmm .. both are fantastics, the best panists alive...plus David Fray...

  • i'm wondering why someone who can play as good as this hits so many wrong notes....

  • @satyu131089 Where are these wrong notes you speak of? I didn't catch any. Chopin sometimes will let the left and right hand play discordant notes.

  • @Argonith2000 at 1:45 she plays the wrong notes. I think her interpretation is like a race car driver at the indy 500. She won the race, but if speed was all she was after in a piano piece, that's pretty sad...

  • @SpaceAgeOdyssey

If that's all you were paying attention to, THAT is very sad.

  • @satyu131089 i couldn't find the wrong notes either, perhaps you mean the ornaments in 2:40 which are meant to be played like that

  • @aynohohohola i feel like at 38 second she might have had a glitch, same with at the 1 min mark

  • @kuangshu thats is how the music should really be played, it isnt a glitch

  • @satyu131089 Im playing this song, and I haven't really heard her mess up, but Im not sure:)

  • why is she just playing chopin's compositions????

    what about mozart,beethoven,debussy...?

  • @ggghhhhgg coz that's what she likes.... I like it too

  • 4:11 to 4:25 is like fast forwarding.... how? how?

  • I DONT CARE HOW PRETY SHE IS... her playing is 2nd to none of all CHOPIN PLAYERS.... JUST F****N WOW EVERY TIME !!!

  • lovely , simply lovely

  • this is a lovely piece to play but very difficult to do up to speed and with all the expression

    Valentinas is a lovely rendition

  • What those 34 people think? Can they play this music better, or does the music itself not satisfy their ears?

  • Mikhail Glinka said about Chopin , that when playing its compositions your fingers must be like raindrops falling trought the keyboard.

I think that I can feel this raindrop-playing in Valentina.

  • I love how she plays.

    It sounds so...gentle

  • Comment removed

  • @lolipepi Yeah, I love this piece and she plays in fantastically. But I wish people would stop trying to get thumbs up with making a joke about how stupid people who have a different opinion to me are...

  • such a happy piece~

  • who are those 34 stupids who don't like this marvel?

  • Technically, she is strong but I found that this interpretation too rushed and a bit choppy at times.. Like she was trying to get done with it and not really savoring every note. Props for her incredible talent. I prefer Dr. Smith's interpretation - look for "Vintage Chopin"

  • HAHAHAHAHA 1:10 epic fail

  • Such control. Really. Just amazing.

  • Wonderful :D

  • Who are the fucking 33 who doesn't like this ?!!!!

  • @Elcrazyz1 she plays this piece way to fast. It's like she's insecure she will play the wrong notes. True she hits the right notes, but as a pianist, you will learn that playing the right notes is just the beginning. There are much better interpretations in my opinion.

  • @SpaceAgeOdyssey Well I don't think there's better interpretations, I would say there's OTHER interpretations but one is not better that another ! Every interpretations have its characteristics, in terms of sensibility or simply in terms of way of playing...

  • @Elcrazyz1 Okay so let me ask you something: If some kid who never had seen a piano before sat down after hearing a recording of this piece, and told me "this is my interpretation of this piece" I would still think that one interpretation is not better than another? He is entitled to his interpretation--I still am going to think it sounds like dog dookie :)

  • @SpaceAgeOdyssey Wait ! I didn't say this interpretation is bad !!! I only said every pianist who makes an interpretation have its personnality, so he add to the piece his characteristics to the music. It's not a bad thing! and we canno't do by an other way, because nobody canno't be "neutral" : sensibility is IN the piano !

  • @Elcrazyz1 "I only said every pianist who makes an interpretation have its personality"

Right, Actually you said "I would say there's OTHER interpretations but one is not better that another !"

I couldn't follow your last point, what you may find is If you speak in coherent sentences people will appreciate it---and will be that much more likely to be able to understand what you are trying to say. Have a good day.

  • @Elcrazyz1 hahahhahaha lol, u have to cool down

  • She's magical. Her hands just so gracefully flow over keys. It's like magic or something.

  • mmm!

  • She is certainly a nuanced player and beautiful too - the kind of pupil that the great (male) composers would have fallen over to compose for!

  • She seems even better than last time I listened to her. Another pianist with excellent musical intention.

  • That's a waltz but not danceable !

  • Comment removed

  • specific interpretation...but I like it!

  • Memories...Tom and Jerry...I loved this song since I first heard it from that show!!

  • @MsThisNameIsTaken lol omg i was too when i saw a seventh grader play this at my piano recital. my teacher never taught me this song D:< so i tried it myself xD
