@Thesteveism If you want to be in airborne like I did, you need to show to your DS that you got the guts. Pass your APFT with the highest score, and DO NOT FUCK UP. Also get expert marksmanship during quals. Oh also be 11B because 11B has the highest chance of going to airborne school.
What I miss most? Exiting, falling out of the sky, the black hats bellowing at us through their bull horns and not understanding a damn word, landing, getting up and doing it all over again! Airborne Every Day, Airborne All The Way!!!
@satinderjit4 OMG dude you are not a kid anymore if u are joining the Armed Forces. U have to make the decision urself. Its like saying no honey u cant work at starbucks cuz the coffee that may spill can burn your hand. dont let ur mom tchoose ur path trust me ive been there.
@PrivateArtur If satinderjit4 is 17, he needs his parents signature. I joined at 17, and I still graduated from boot camp and AIT befor I was 18. I still needed my mom's signature.
R.I.P. Steve Little 1962-2010 a 15 year veteran Special Forces Airborne Ranger and trainer at Yuma...a casualty of war after coming home....love ya brother...miss you helluva lot....
I remember those days. My class was the last one to use the 200ft towers. Those where my first and last day jumps. "Airborne shuffle" my azz. In the real world pretty much run out the plane.
The difference is that theyre both different Airborne Divisions and 101st Airborne doesn't jump they repel.and the requirements are that ur not flat footed and u completed basic and that ur physically fit... well thats wat i heard from my dad who is retired Army... could be wrong.
The 82nd Airborne is an entire DIVISION of Airborne personnel. Meaning EVERYBODY jumps.....cooks, admin, mechanics. The 101st Airborne is primarily an Air Assault Division (fast rope, sling load, helicopters) with one Battalion of TRUE airborne soldiers. Honestly the 82nd does everything, and we do it better.
@sheltonap when I was in the 82nd in 1977, the only people not required to be airborne qualified were Division Artillery. They had some legs in their three battalions, and jump school was always available to them if they changed their mind.
Seriously looks like an eagle having babies...maybe I should see an optometrist.

does airborne get training similiar to infantry? somebody let me know. really thinking about joining airborne when im ready.
ChiChiRodriguez1 2 years ago
No, airborne school strictly teaches you how to jump and land. Your MOS training is something totally separate that you do before Airborne school
