  • they should just have seats isnt silverchair a fucking rock band?

  • Where do i download this show? I really want it =/

  • when was this been performed?

  • Ben's smile at 2:08 :)

  • Dan's voice is brilliant- he had real problems with it for a while but I think it's come back better than ever- his tonal range is amazing now!

  • STACKS, man.. $TACK$

  • 2:37-:40...WOW.

  • Nice stashes!

  • this is a good live of straight lines.. but some of their live in this song daniel is hardly singin it right???

  • @rataman6969 its becaiuse in the other performances he had laringitis which is a really bad throat infection

  • so inspiring lyric, and the song arrangement so..so...AWESOME, keep on rockin the free world DANIEL, BEN, CHRIS!!!!!!!

  • Amazing song and Amazing Album!!

One of my big Faves is The Man Who Knew Too Much...

It has a great feeling to it.

  • Why isn't the crowd jumping with that music and amazing lights effects? If I were there I would just blow my head

  • @vighain probably cos it was 1st time it had been heard... Silverchair are a little bit over-rated to be honest.... they were good in early days. Are abit washed up & recycled these days.

  • @mickjoG damn I had to read my comment again I didn't remember what I said haha. Yeah it's true, Daniel has turned gayer and the band's image has become commercial for some people, but I think musically he is a great composer. Some of his songs after freak show seem really gay, but if he or they didn't dress up like fags sometimes, people would really listen to the music and the lyrics in stead of their image. Early days were better, but I think that more because of the grunge attitude they had

  • @vighain - for sure, I agree with you!.. i dont mind them, like eg: this song is pretty good, has a nice feel good, feel about it. But yeh the early days grunge attitude they had was superb, & just at the right time, keeping up the Nirvana/ Cobain legacy. I guess Daniel Johns just really pisses me off with his shit rubbish side projects. Dissacociatives & all that dribble... I just wish Silverchair would just be out & out Rockers more these days. Instead of being dirty quirky weirdo's.

  • @mickjoG i just want to say that i approve of this phrase: dirty quirky weirdos

i otherwise disagree with your opinions.

  • this song is really awesome! i like it a lot! silverchair still rocks!!

  • Silver StairLift, for ever.

  • bronze seat.

  • Dear BlueE.

    Thanks for your response.

    .

I was looking at the keyboards in this vt.,

they are big old and interesting.

    .

    Nice song!

    cheers.

  • Mmmm,

    Thanks.

    cheers.

    from,

    del-boy

  • Heh cool just stummbled across this video. I was there for the album launch :)

  • Espero que algun dia se dejen ver por España. Pq son los putos amos

  • Omg this song is amazing!

  • falling in the same "trap of mistakes" which metallica fell in the past...

This ISN'T silverchair, this is a new and recently formed band with the same name, starting from zero.

    and i dont like it!

  • go have a pity party with all the non- open minded losers :)

  • You just don't get music my friend, that's all.

It's ok though, we blame the musicians, but it's really us who are being idiotic. :)

  • its Young Modern with the album Silverchair!

  • it's kind of bizarre to think that this is the same band that once released frogstomp and freakshow.

  • To people saying that he's lost some of his voice, I feel like I'm missing something. I don't see it. He hit every note and it sounds completely in tune. ??? Great powerful voice to me.

  • he had laryingitis during the u.s. promo tour and he never totally rested up his voice so it wasnt really 100% till mid 07

  • damn Paul's gonna bounce right off his seat! you gotta love this performance...INCREDIBLE~~!!!

  • it's like a meter of how good the performance is, lol

  • yeah! SILVERCHAIR FOREVER

  • the best!

  • This is good. But not nearly as good as their old stuff. I love Tomorrow. That song is awesome!

  • Maybe Daniel's voice isn't the best it can be at every show these days but Straight Lines is a beautiful piece of songwriting and Young Modern is just a fucking great album- pure and simple!

So all you people who wish Silverchair were still at the musical maturity of Frogstomp- take out your coloring books and go rent a Vin Dissel movie because your musical tastes are neanderthalic!

  • woah i thought his voice was pretty amazing in this performance, sounds like the record for the most part. And this aint no easy song to sing!

  • THIS IS BEYOND FUCKING EPIC

I love Daniel so much XD

  • anyone else notice the twitch at around 0:48? i normally wouldnt notice things like that but, oh well, this time i did.

  • hahaha, I noticed the twitch. He was getting ready to sing the next part. ;)

  • HEATH????!???

  • Funny you should say that... he's Heath Ledger's cousin...... look it up.

  • Comment removed

  • He's not related to Heath Ledger his brothers name is Heath

  • Haha, I totally made that up about the Heath Ledger and Daniel Johns being cousins. Sorry for the confusion. Silverchair is my all time fav band though.

  • I want to thank everyone who posted a comment. I laughed myself to tears, as I had been thinking all of these comments throughout the video (the "attaboy" nod, the bouncing around on a dildo thing, etc)

  • short live Paul Mac!

  • why does everybody hates paul mac? I really wanna know...

  • It's Called Growing and maturing as an artist

  • True story.... Paul Mac always straps a large dildo to his piano tool before performing this tune. Silverchair is still phenomenal, they just don't rock anymore... but I support them. I just can't get past my dislike of Paul Mac. Is it normal that I want a meteor to fall from the sky and crush his mullet?

  • hehe i love the new stuff but that comment is just too funny

  • epic sirnathan. that comment made my day

  • He's just found a new more refined singing voice.

  • perfeito !

Onde e quando foi esse show??

    ameei *-*

  • 1:38 is the best face ive ever seen anyone ever pull, its like "thats my boy"

  • haha ive found that happens often when playing in a band. its not always a piece of cake but sometimes its worth the differences and such

  • No one is cheering or yelling or anything ... Seems like a lame concert to me. But don't get me wrong, I love this band and song :D

  • All those launch concerts set up by Channel V are really small and controlled... It´s all about having another "V" moment for those guys... not having fun.

  • his toher band The Dissociatives are pretty goood too =DD

  • he doesn't sing as good now but i still love this song and am buying the cd

  • Ahhhh, this song gives me shivers!

    I love it so much!

  • i bet a million dollars paul mac is bouncing on a large dildo

  • It's called keepin' your rythym.

    But I still lol'd

  • LMAO! good one!

  • you would to this song haha

  • i know it was 7 months ago but thats the funniest shit i've ever read on youtube.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA oh dear....vry funny

  • ... and guitar player :)

  • Johns is a fantastic singer.

  • Paul Mac looks funny xD Great performance of great song =D

  • I fucking love every fucking song made by Silverchair with the strength of 100 burning suns.

  • the new style of silver chair sounds so much better live than the studio album of young modern. their grunge side comes out when they play live, the studio album got a little soft for me. still a great band

  • great song...so good...

  • such a great song.....

  • nice music

  • When I think of silverchair, I think of those long-haired, hard rockin' dudes ('_')

  • OH MY GOOD GOD!

  • song's brilliant

  • FINALLY! DANIEL SINGS HIS TRUE BEST!!!!!! U hate all those other vids of when he was sick!!!!!! ppl keep shitting him but he shits ppl THE BEST!!!!!

I know cuz I'm shitting myself watching this!!!!

    SILVERHCAIR FUCKIN FOREVER!!!

  • I've been following these guys for 13 years! got I feel old. they're better than ever. the new album is pure brilliance : - )

  • i firs heard about these guys at a jimmy eat world concert in orlando (SC opend for them)

    now im hooked.

Silverchair is like cocaine, once you first hear them, you just cant stop

  • great great song!!!

  • great on the album, great live

    flawless!

  • i like the maturity of them personally & musicality

  • AMAZING!

  • I adore Silverchair, and I love all of their records each for different reasons....but I do wish Danny would lose the hairband, lol

    not a cool look

  • i have listened to young modern heaps more than frogstomp and freakshow.... it is a great summer album.

  • I walk a straight line throughout the day, and then the evening comes....

  • I agree that Silverchair has really developed in their musicianship. This is a spectacular song.

  • To be honest, Young Modern got me interested in Silverchair, and now I love all their albums. It is way different but I think it's genius in it's own way. It takes true talent to be that diverse in your style of writing and still have such great music.

  • tisk tisk so much anger, just listen and enjoy if not check out Cro-Mags if you truly want to rock young one.

  • Go watch your mainstream-crap, kiddo...

  • Why fighting with words, just enjoy music!

    That's the point here no?

Thanks for posting that live video !

  • silverchair is one of a few bands that produce with pure passion and enthusiasm besides the pixies, foo fighters, yeah yeah yeahs etcetera. keep rocking!!!

  • I agree with Stoudman. I don't love all of the new album (I love some of it) but I have no doubt that they are doing what they want and should do.

  • great song , great album open your mind you closed mind fuckers.

  • stoudman is absolutely right. well said.

  • Some people just don't understand bands that show such respect to musical theory that they evolve their music according to the kind of people they are at the time of writing the music. Everything Silverchair has ever put out has been raw and full of passion, and that deserves at least a little respect. They never wrote a lyric to make a buck, they only ever wrote and played their hearts out because they loved it, and because they always had a powerful message to deliver.

    END OF STORY.

  • Kudos. I have to agree. Silverchair is one of the few bands that truly explores music and artistry. Nickelback has written the same song for years, half their songs use the same key. Most hip hop is the same thing now too. It seems that American music is unique in its similarities. That's why I tend to listen to foreign music. It's new and fresh, even if some bands imitate American sound.

  • and even badder review.

  • they sound really cool now!

  • i don't care what kind of music they make, it's ALWAYS written from the heart.

    i'm so happy for him.

  • they're coming BIG!!! Wellcome back guys... cheers

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Silverchair!!!!!!

  • I was in high school when Silverchair first came out, and basically ripped off Nirvana. But I must say, Young Modern is the one of the best albums to come out since the new millenium. It's the best album Coldplay wished they'd made.

  • 1:38 he just lets it rip

  • alwas good as they are...Silverchair rules! my friend Myra Bernabe also love this album! :D

  • Wicked version of this tune! Way better than the original recording

  • I spent $1,000 in July to see Silverchair in California until the shows were rescheduled last-minute. Now I'm broke and I don't know if I can afford the rescheduled shows. If you can donate anything, even a dollar, it would help so much! For more info check out my web site at:

    getmetosilverchair . co . nr

    THANKS!!!

  • what do u think the chances of That are?!

  • lol sounds like a scam

  • this is such a great live version of this song

  • It took me five months, but I now love the Young Modern album.

  • i want to be natalie ambruglia

  • A perfect performance, thanks Silverchair :)

  • god they sound awesome live even on a recording!!!

  • Pure talent, pure musicianship.

  • They play really good live

  • I love them!! Every a;bum different from the one before!! Way better then ppl who release the same crap all the time. If you don't like this one...maybe the next!

  • the first time i heard straight lines...i was like...ooo-kay...but then it grew on me...the more i listen to it the more i appreciate the path the band wants to take

  • You know to be honest...at first I thought Young Modern was crap. But reading all the comments, convinced me to listen to Straight Lines more. So it grew on me over time, took a few months, but yeah, I think I might have to buy their Young Modern cd.

  • i live with silverchair and i will follow what's on daniel's evolution in silverchair's masterpiece... in every album release!!!! long live silverchair...

for young modern, try to listen min 10 times to get in your mind.. :) trust me, you'll love it, feels like in 60s 70s era at sometimes... :)

  • grunge is dead...its good that there sound is evolving....there not 16 anymore

  • Diorama is better than Young Modern..

  • That's your opinion, I find it to be the other way around.

  • So far, I agree. But then, five months ago I hated Young Modern, and I've only really begun to appreciate the whole album tonight. Give it another year and see what you think.

  • best aussie band ever!

  • MY GOD....what happened to the music????

if they were truly "growing up" like everyone says theyed realize that they sound the best when they play grunge. This is like silverchair turned snow patrol

  • Too good to be true... That's all perfect!!!

  • Like it.. im a fan of their old work, but this is good music as well ^^ total different, but good music is good music.

  • Great great song. Its amazing how silverchair creates musical masterpiece. Eventhough their music have evolved i wont worry one bit cause they always come up with something excellent, far from common bands in the mainstream. Unexplainable experience to hear them. Daniel has been through extremely tough and downward situations and still has enough to create such great music. Real musicians. If they come here in the Philippines il be first in line. Hats off to silverchair!

  • saw them...june 22, 1997...up theater...it was the best damn concert i've seen...daniel's just a great performer all through the show...

  • lucky you, i hope they tour down here in the philippines, its really close to australia.

  • GREAT too see silverchair back..this video reminds me of when they were touring freak show with the rio tour......clean woooooooot

  • WOW, now THIS version is what i wanted to hear!!! it's great to be sitting in the silverchair once again....hope they play a dallas date in the future at some point...

  • this is pure bliss, go on daniel... u'r beautiful in every way... k-jam

  • this sounds more "rock" than the song on the CD. yeah! love it.

  • Wow, this is better than the album!

  • I watched them do this on Leno and he sounded like shit LOL but he did an awesome job on this performance!

  • he was obviously sick. he was sick on craig ferguson as well. he might be a little sick in this performance too. one's voice doesn't just disintegrate one day and blossom the next. not very observant are we?

  • he had laryngitis when he performed on Leno

  • where can i get or download this full concert video? anyone??? thanks

  • Is this the evolution for Silverchair, what a difference between Leave Me Out and this song. The only thing that I can say is changes are hard but we need to be open-minded. I'm not going to far, just look U2, The Cure, Oasis, Green Day, etc.

  • Its funny cause i was watching this extact song on tv 5 minutes ago

  • Yeah, he didn't really pull off the falsetto part of the chorus. But still, awesomeness.

  • Great example. Simple song-writting with catchy melodies still work.

  • poor guy, just can't sing the chorus

  • Bruce Springsteen

  • perfect

  • wow this is a very good performance

  • it must be like having a mistress.

  • so young and so perfect...he more they grow the better they get!!! I wish I had his voice

  • this is pop

  • is it me or is daniel channeling Bruce Springsteen?

  • tell me this hook doesn't stick in your head.....

  • holy fuck like u wouldnt believe...i dont even like the song and in my head all i hear is "wakin up strong in the morning walkin in a straight line..." its pissin me off lol

  • seens like coldplay!

  • you guys are crazy there is so nothing wrong with his performance come on could u do it?

  • look at paul mac, bouncing around over there. >< to you people wondering about why the jay leno performance went so badly, dan said on a radio show or something that he has laryngitis.

  • This is what I was hoping to see on Jay Leno tonight. It was heartbreaking to watch him lose his voice or break his vocal chords or whatever happened.

  • I was so stoked when Jay introduced Silverchair.... Then to hear Daniel implode like that, eeek! I hope he has his rest before next weeks show here in Seattle, i'll be sorely dissappointed if not.

  • He's had problems with his vocal chords from what I understand. I don't know if it was nerves tonight or what. It's been a while since they've been in the states.

  • Consider his track record. After the post-Diorama reactive arthritis, maybe chronic laryngitis is an improvement? He's already recognised his habit of developing debilitating conditions after an album release, but he may not have fully shaken it yet.

  • yeah, that and anorexia after freakshow (but if fueled neon ballroom so it was good in the end...gave him more to write about). at least laryngitis was for just a few weeks. although when i saw them live (a few weeks after they canceled all the shows) he still sounded sick.

  • do you reckon his penis has a little sweatband of its own
