Perodua makes daihatsus which are actually toyotas. it's really no where near as bad as proton. at least they're not marketing them as superior products.

Being 3 motoring journalists for quite some considerable time, I suspect they know a crap car when they drive one. But being as built down to a price as they are, these cheap cars have less of a place in the UK market than they do on their home turf.
daihatsu/toyota gave licence to perodua to use their design to make cars... you know what,,even the prime minister of japan said that perodua produce better car(myvi) than daihatsu/toyota's version...
one thing about malaysian cars esp myvi and satria neo, it is designed to cater asian size people, in other words, small people.. so to people in britain, these cars are may look small, cheap and had no quality.. usually the myvi is driven by ladies and teenagers... but somehow both myvi and satria neo is the lowest fuel consumption car if it were to compare with other cars.. all malaysian love the neo and myvi, and its our pride and joy..

I happen to believe that the last true "everyman's" car was the 1937 Plymouth. It didn't need anything more to improve it other than seatbelts, a head rest and a 12 volt system . if the same car was built today it would probably be too expensive to buy.

At least the car's cheap. It depends on how we view cars and their functionality. Obviously they're reviewing these cars based on how well they drive and how good they feel. But, these cars were made cheap so people in Malaysia could move about easily, providing an affordable point A to B transport. Flawed review, unfortunately :S

actually, jeremy's idea isn't that bad to be honest. here in the netherlands the ING bank got there 15 mil bailout and then proceeded to pay the manager of the lot 11,5 mil as a bonus, while somehow i doubt if he needed and deserved that much. it would be a good idea to auction off his house, cars, suits, art and goodness knows what else, make him give back his bonus and stuff him in social housing and on wellfare.

one thing about malaysian cars esp myvi and satria neo, it is designed to cater asian size people, in other words, small people.. so to people in britain, these cars are may look small, cheap and had no quality.. usually the myvi is driven by ladies and teenagers... but somehow both myvi and satria neo is the lowest fuel consumption car if it were to compare with other cars.. all malaysian love the neo and myvi, and its our pride and joy..

I wish I am a citizen in britain. Overthere, young executive can afford decent cars and not here, in malaysia, you can't decent cars when you're young executive in a MNC. Other cars are priced artificially expensive to make malaysian purchase the so called "humble" cars made by proton or perodua. There's no point arguing with the government, because the majority of malaysian are just too nationalistic even if a rubbish is sold so long as it has "made in malaysia" on it , they will buy.

I happen to believe that the last true "everyman's" car was the 1937 Plymouth. It didn't need anything more to improve it other than seatbelts, a head rest and a 12 volt system . if the same car was built today it would probably be too expensive to buy.

proton has been hand fed by the malaysian government for too long. they've become lazy at making a good car. the only good cars to come from them were from the age of when they used to re-badge mitsubishi cars. seriously, the car falls apart within a few months! how they came to own lotus is something i'll never understand. even malaysians hate proton. the only reason protons are bought in malaysia is because of the obscenely high import tax on foreign cars.

ALZA is actually cheaper and way more spacious but still stand no chance competing MyVi. If anyone plan to buy a MyVi nowadays u have to be mentally prepared for the long waiting list (months!!) to get one. MyVi is small yet practical. I just wish they have more colours... anyway dont expect a supercar for a supermini car budget. Its unfair.
