great job...looks good. howd u get whels to work wihout falling off? how u attach arms without falling off, considering its holding the weight of the body? just to be a lil picky I would of done the back too....but overall excellent.
Thanks for the comments. You can't see it but under the arms there is a piece of wood screwed to the tube on both sides. Those pieces of wood got covered by the arms. I drilled 2 small holes into the bottom of the wood and forced 2 caster-type wheels into each piece of wood. The arms were then just hot-glued onto the body. The body was supported by the wood and wheels. It worked because the tube was so thick. BTW, the back was done also, it just doesn't show well. You can kinda see it at 2:30.
I honestly can't remember exactly which sites I got them from, I used a couple different ones. If you do a search for R2D2 MP3 sounds, you should get a pretty good list.
Shit man you almost made me cry I am a big fan of Star Wars & I actually thought about this for my son when he is that age. He is only 9months old graeat job dude.
Thanks, man. My son loved it and so did everyone else. We went to a local baseball field for Halloween and we got stopped every few steps so people could take their picture with him. Now i just have to figure how to match or top that costume this year.
A spinning dome was in my initial plans, but making it work proved harder than I thought. I wanted to attach it to my son's head but then he would have been limited to how much he could move his head once it was attached. It was already pretty hot in there and I didn't want to make it more miserable for him.
