@regismo no, never have there been such high pase in the heavyweight divition, lots of great fights, but heavyweight cannot fight at this pace for 12 rounds.
This fight reminds me of Quiroga-Akeem, a little less skill but the non-stop punching and the heart of the two is reminiscent of the great encounter. This is a real classic.
yes they would ! Remember were tought to take a punch and to fight at the same pace for hours ! MMA guys are really good! But on the lower weights in boxing there are great athletes unlike the heavyweights that moved on to other sports! And conditinionig is great! Also they punch and most of them come from very poor background so they can seriously fight! Unlike been middle class and learning to wrestle or mma and not been very athletic! MMA is good but u can see some athletes there!
You wouldn't last one round in a spelling bee. Librado Andrade would give George St. Pierre a horrible beating if they ever boxed and Andrade would get beaten up bad if he ever fought in an MMA match-up. It doesn't really matter how good they would do in the other sport.
What the fuck does MMA have to do with this classic. I enjoy both sports and hate when ignorant ppl post dumb shit like that. Give it up. lmao at the spelling bee comment!
Fuck man... my face hurts after just watching this...
I do wish the commentary was in English though. I mean, obviously I know what's going on, but am I the only one who just really enjoys hearing in-fight commentary?
He's from Bam, in Iran, and now has the french nationality, one of the best decision took by french! we should be proud to welcome this guy in the country, but it took a long way for him to reach it, and that is a shame for us. Check the whole story on the net. nevertheless, what a fight, and two awesome fighters.
Mahyar Monshipour said some months ago that he really thinks about a comeback in the future. He really wants to come back, but he wants to see before all if he's able yet to win great matches, because he doesn't want to come back to make defeats, he really wants to fight for the victory and the titles...
In fact, he always said when he was champion that he would retire at his first defeat. And that's what he did. But visibly, the passion is stronger than all and he really thinks about a comeback, but the complicate situaition of professionnal boxing in Francemakes it harder. Even Brahim Asloum can't defend his title because of this situation...
I've made a visit on the Mahyar Monshipour official site, and I've seen the details of his come-back: in fact, he named this comeback "for the honor". He will make, at first I think, but I'm not sure, 4 fights. The first of these fights will occur against a european top-10 boxer on December 1st @ Poitiers , his hometown, and the last will be on June 2009 @ The Futuroscope. After, I don't know what he will do, but if he's satisfied by these fights, he 'll maybe try a title shot, but not sure...
these guys are beast

Somsak was an odd fighter. Although he was tall, he bent low and kinda put his head right in front of his opponents gloves.

I can't wait for Saturday because Mahyar Monshipour will fight for the WBA World bantamweight title against Anselmo Moreno.
Personnally, I hope he will win, 'cause it would be a great comeback for him (and because I'm french, of course)...
