This guys's snare actually sounds like shit compared to todays' standards. I just spent 2 weeks in LA listening and talking to heavyweights like Ron Bruner Jr, Tom Brecklien, Simon Phillips. Talk about killer drum sounds. Take a listen to anything Vinnie or Dave Weckl does, or check out "You Rang" on Dave's website. Gary Novak with Chick Corea. What absolutely ignorant remarks. Yes the band kicks ass. I knew Jim Studer from Santa Barbara. But don't make ridiculous generic comments like that.
I was at this concert! I kid you not. R/T ticket from Anchorage to London, happened to get a ticket and see him there at Wembley stadium. David Sanborn opened and the tickets said the concert would be filmed for to be played back in the U.S. When I returned was sitting in a bar with Matt Booher, hockey friend there in Anchorage, and it came up on their screen--"Roof Garden" on MTV. Wild. I even brought back the t-shirt w/'High Crime' written on it.
one of the best song. Since the eighties i can listen ot it while driving very fast in the night in my 205 GTI or when im quiet by the sea. Its so powerful !
Thanks for posting this. Been looking for this concert for years. Anyone know if the original is still available? Had it on a video2000 tape in holland in the 80's...
Hey Amanddeligt! Hope life is good! Is it possible for me to raise a copy of that Al Jarreau Live in London? Do you still have a copy of the DVD that you could possibly burn for me.
i saw dvd on sale last year on e bay a couple of sellers and unfortunately didnt get it though i have vhs video i looked on ebay yesterday but only cd available through amazon
I love this concert!! My dad bought this when i was a baby and I loved it even back then, so much so that my dad made tuesdays al jarreau day for me so his tape wouldnt wear out :) thanks for posting!
Al Jearrau always with an A-Team. The Creme-de-la-Creme of musicians !!!!! Unbeleivable how tight the band is and the horns rippin' it up V-E-R-Y tight as well.....and is that Paulinho Da Costa on Percussion ???? Holy cow!!!! what a monster line up !!!!
Icarus played rythm & lead guitar on Staley Clarke's famous School Days album, including the title track..... AN ABSOLUTE MONSTER GUITARIST !!!! And how about his rythm chops on this track !!!! Unbe-frikin-leivable !!!!
This weekend at the Jacksonville Jazz Festival Al J. played the main stage then at another venue they had Guitars and Saxes with Ricky Lawson on drums..smokin!
Michael Paulo is on sax..I loved the horn section choreography on those 80s Jarreau tours!
oh my god thanks for posting it i like so much this aljarreaus song, and all the songs from him that are with that style!!!I have this album, thank you!! check my videos!!
drums were better quality, cymbals were better, drummers could actualy tune their kit, better co-musicians who can realy play together & make a great balance & timing on stage, better soundenigneers.
