cut your toe nails flat get someone to help you do it then cut a small v in the top center of each toe this will allow the nail to grow away from the outside of the toe this really works its a very good old remedy tried and true.

@FinTricker at he nail salons they pull it backward too. It doesn't hurt much at all actually, although they don't dig that deep. It helps the nail to free itself more naturally than to just yank out all the skin it may be attached to.

@StlCardnalz uh yeah no you get your toenail partially removed for life or they remove the whole nail and it ALWAYS comes back deformed and ingrown. Plus there will be alot more pain becuase the cut the skin open too. Just get a razor blade and pliers and cut it off.

What? That's messed up, my mom watched my surgery to make sure they did everything right. The corner of my nail that burned, hasn't grown. But my other nail needs surgery, the nail is probably so far down that the pain turned into numbness, lol.

dude i had the same problem and when i was 6 the doctor just ripped it out but at age 11 i had a surgery done to both my toes where he puts a needle 5 times in each infected toe with novacaine and removes it killing the root making it go away FOR GOOD!! now i feel great!!
i got mine two days ago and it didnt hurt at all the worst part was the novacan shots, my doctor mixs novacan with another number that last for 18 hours so i got thru the 5 hours of pain afterwards to w/o feeling anything
Most of my friends have been hesitant to try it at first. They come up with every reason and theory why it won't work for them. Then when I eventualy make them, they give up after the first blast because of the pain. When I finally force them to keep going for a bit longer ONLY THEN do they start to realise that it is actually working and next day they are heaps better! Why are people so thick? They are in so much pain but still they won't try a quick and easy method. Don't YOU be thick, TRY IT!
I did this at the start of my ingrown nail and it eventually got MUCH WORSE because of infection and such. It's only a matter of time before yours gets bad enough that you will need a doctor to remove it... he or she can also prevent it from growing back into the flesh again so it's worth it.

Having one for a 15 months now. for the last three months, there is no infection, and now I see the corner coming out. In a couple of months it will all be gone, forever, and the overgrowth "protecting" the body becomes smaller everyday.
I know your pain man. If you grow tired of removing it, it takes a lot of patience to let it regrow and finally poke out.
If it keeps occuring, visit a hospital and the doctor may apply a small electrical charge or a liquid solution to the exposed part of the nail bed (process is known as ablation). This keeps the toenail from growing into the skin again.

I have the same condition, the doctor removes the whole nail. Witch in my case made it 1000 times more pain full and made the nail grow back fully ingrown not just one corner. What he's doing hurts less and will eventually make the end pop out and he'll have a normal nail again like i do

I wonder if cutting your toenails at a parallel line to the base really helps prevent them from becoming ingrown.
Luckily, I've only had to tear out my big toenail once -- and that was because it was partially broken off from when I dropped something on it.

I did this at the start of my ingrown nail and it eventually got MUCH WORSE because of infection and such. It's only a matter of time before yours gets bad enough that you will need a doctor to remove it... he or she can also prevent it from growing back into the flesh again so it's worth it.

The only thing is that I would need to be just done defeating a grizzly bear in hand to hand combat, and then building a log cabin with it. (the leatherman, not the defeated bear) Then and only then could I remove the toenail and have a solid commercial.

hot damn! i tried with a standard pair of nail clippers, a knife, a thumbtack and some rubbing acohol and i'd sit there for hours trying to work that fucker out, GRR u suck!! i wish mine was that easy, i had to get it professionally removed yesterday

well, as I have said, I've been to the doctor for each foot about ten times, and they keep telling me it's gone forever now, you don't have to live in fear any longer. But they are sowers of deceit I tell you. I usually just wait for it to grow back in and then yank it out fresh out of the shower.

going to a doctor, doing it myself... same result : grows back EVEN if it's not supposed to. Derooting it does nothing.
Having one for a 15 months now. for the last three months, there is no infection, and now I see the corner coming out. In a couple of months it will all be gone, forever, and the overgrowth "protecting" the body becomes smaller everyday.
I know your pain man. If you grow tired of removing it, it takes a lot of patience to let it regrow and finally poke out.

If it keeps occuring, visit a hospital and the doctor may apply a small electrical charge or a liquid solution to the exposed part of the nail bed (process is known as ablation). This keeps the toenail from growing into the skin again.

I HATE ingrown toenails. Both my big toes have them, and once every six months or so, I have to go through the whole removal. Out with the scissors and tweezers and cut and pull the shit out of them

I have the same condition, the doctor removes the whole nail. Witch in my case made it 1000 times more pain full and made the nail grow back fully ingrown not just one corner. What he's doing hurts less and will eventually make the end pop out and he'll have a normal nail again like i do
