  • WHYD YOU CARVE? Rule 1. Dont carve. Rule 2. DONT CARVE.

  • Finally someone I can understand! I had to go through so many kids that English and Australian before I found a voice that speaks fluent American!

    Great, simple, clean tutorial!

  • 2:15 thats what she said :D

  • how do you get the measurements on the 2d while u are creating a box? i have no measurements and it's makes it tough

  • You sound like a girl ?

I never see girls playing hl2 !good job then !

  • How do you put entitys and other sruff by clicking somewhere on the camera?

I can only use the top, side and front.

  • Stick it back in where it's supposed to be lol.. thats what she said.

  • Never carve. Using clipping tool instead and cut out your own doorway.

  • how do you make a sliding door go up ?

  • Do not carve!

  • Dark pivot pro, you rock!!!

  • The ball in the middle of my func_door is not there!

  • When I use the block creation tool, I can't make the size in between 1x1 and 64x64.

    How do I change that?

  • Lol, thought you said dark pervert, then I read ur name.

  • LOL PortalInnovations has the best voice EVER!!! and you sound like him so i think your awsome too. :D (In fact, every youtuber is awsome!)

  • bad grafics and to fast but thanks anyway 4/5

  • These tutorials are VERY handy, in fact, i'm making a CS:S Obstacle Course and these tutorials are helping me make it. Especially the light tutorial and this door one. ^^

  • fantastic tutorial!

    10/10

very good explaining stage by stage on how to construct the sliding door with a button as well, i have manage to make it for the level i'm currently creating,

once i have finnished + posted my l4d2 map for the public, I'll post you and you can say, you taught me that :D thank you darkpivotro

  • ok i think i found it, properties > move direction > drop down box > Up

  • well how the fuck do i get the damn thing to go up, its going sideways even tho i put the fucker 1 level above the fuckin ceiling...

and the other door, which i did the same way, slides forward and backward (toward and away from the player)

    :/

  • lol stick it back in... thats what she said

  • HOW YOU ORANGE STAIRS?

  • You know of textures?

  • You should not be suggesting to do carve. It's so easy to break a map/chrash with that. Also you can use Lip to make it move further so the textures don't break.

  • Hmmm... dont do it this way since if you whant to resize it , it fucks up the grid do it the simple way and its much easyer to resize it ;)

  • ty for the tut really helps for my maps

  • Comment removed

  • when's the tut 6 comeing? (if there's gonna be one)

like.. how to make moving surfaces(with loop)

and i dont mean the door, i mean like.. "hovering"

platform in air that woud go up, down, side to side.. stuff like that..

(yes im a noob with hammer editor, but i have done 2 maps and working on a new one wich is a jail map)

  • Lol, Tutorial 6, 7, and 8 are already out.

  • lol i coudnt find them at your videos xD

  • Did your map turn out ok?

Yea i know you posted this 4 months ago im just wondering :p

  • I dont care how old post is replied, im happy to awnser all of them :3

But no, it didnt turn out very good(atleast, not good enough.) it had perfect jail cells, perfect CT spawn, it had a pool,

the famous "big cage" and it had a room with lines on the ground to indicate the "shot4shot" area,

and with a button to RISE THOSE LINES INTO ONE SMALLER AREA FOR KNIFE FIGHT! :O

but then i realised, the map is way too compact, and had no teleports to help the prisoners no escape.

  • Yeah, happens to every map I make.

My common problem is things like hills and doorways.

THE CHARACTERS ARE JUST TOO FAT!

  • @Ricksdetrix ...?

  • Comment removed

  • All the players and characters are too fat to fit through my doors and hallways.

Its their problem, not mine :p

  • Well if the map is made by you, it's your problem.

Just make the hallways bigger, how about making an entitie of the playermodel to help you scale your map? :P

  • very helpfull .D

  • Pretty crap to be honest. You didn't know any of the stuff you were really talking about and for GOD sake don't use carve, use the clip tool. using carve is a very bad habit.

  • at least he is better than you! And if he didnt know anything about the stuff that he was talking about, how could he talk about it and then do a working sliding door?

  • Well I do agree with him on the carve tool. It is a bad habit. :P

  • the carve tool is the best tool there is.. just remember to ungroup everything u carve.

  • No it's not. You can get some very badly shaped brushes out of it which is very bad for compiling and also very bad for the optimizing for your maps.

  • Simple, he has did it before. My point is that he does it in a very bad way and he can't explain it, he can do it, but he can't explain it.

  • if you use the carve tool wrong, it will make holes in your map.

  • instead of using ctrl T all the time just double click the entity

  • that is something diferent. if you double click an object it comes up with a bullcrap screen.

  • Everytime I try to make a door and Ctrl+T it, it wants to create a new entity everytime. The dot on the door wont appear. Any advice?

  • I'm not sure, sorry.

  • That's alright. I think I found a better way. When I Ctrl+T and have the brush selected it doesnt bring up the properties for that brush. So on the grid, I right click the brush and select properties. It works now. -Thanks for the tut.

  • @BattsNeckDudes You don't need that dot to appear on the door nor would you have to use Ctrl+T. You could just find the entity your trying to edit and right click>properties and your there.

  • type dev in the textures and it comes up with orange gray etc...

  • Seriously, WHY do all these tutorials have faggy 12-year old commenters?

  • Seriously, WHY do people care.

  • How far does the door go?

  • As many units long the brush is in the direction it moves. Let's say you have a door that moves left, and it's 64 units long (horizontally), it will move 64 units to the left, placing the right side where the left side was before. (Hope that made sense to you lol).

  • Ah, I get it! Thanks xP

  • I know carving is really simple and somewhat handy but it does'nt help you in the long run carving can cause gaps in your walls which causes errors when you try compiling it, so please don't do it btw good tutorial.

  • Hey man, I really want to know wich valve hammer version you are using because mine is bullsh*t and it doesn't have all tabs like in object properties. Please tell me.

  • I use that one that comes with source sdk. (It's the latest version)

  • Does it edit cs 1.6?

  • Whats that orange texture you use when your making your map?

  • Good vid man

  • Thats what she said

    by da way nice vid

  • where do you get these things

  • Get what things?

  • the software whats it called if you gotta pay for it or if its free where did you get it like this and the movie animation video program ya know

  • Its called source SDK and you get it from going into ur steam page and clicking on tools. Its free and about a 1gb download

  • Great!
