  • Nope. No Aretha, this is the seminal version, as most originals are.

  • Chuck Norris kann Feuer mit einer Lupe machen…Nachts!

  • O momento em que eu acordo

    Antes de eu me maquiar

Eu faço uma pequena oração pra você...

  • Sublime.

  • Dionne's version is so much better than Aretha's. the backing singers sing more of the song than Aretha does on her version......

  • @kavallan I dissagree. I think they're both good, but I prefer the quality of Aretha's voice. I accept your opinion though.

  • Grande Cantora! Dionne Warwick!

  • @dulcesanttana1 Maravilhosa!

  • Il matrimonio del mio migliore amico! <3.

  • the opening of the song is crack. like the first 10 seconds.

  • dionne rules hands down

    rob

  • Dionne Warwick is one of the best singers ever and Burt Bacharach has done so many fantastic melodies so this combiantion is unbeatable !

  • @lefreak79

    So It Is!!!!!!!!

Nothing Beats Original Burt Bachrach & Hal David Sound!!!!!!!!

Covering Their Tunes is " To Guild The Lily ", Whoever Aretha or EVEN Dionne Warwick's Late very Different from ORIGINAL Version!!!!!!!!

    They Just Destroyed The Tune.

This Original Arrange Version Still Chills Me Up and Instantaneously Takes Me Back to The Time When The Music Was at Greatest Hight and Glorious Peak!!!!!!!!

  • THIS IS HANDS DOWN (AND THE ORIGINAL) THE BEST! ARETHA ADDED MORE SOUL BUT NOTHING BEATS THAT BURT BACARACH SOUND WITH DIONNE WARWICK--IT'S PRICELESS AND SO UNIQUE.

  • So who likes this more and who likes Aretha better? I'm going with Aretha!

  • Voz Belissima !!!!!!

  • it makes me think of u love my husband my chaz

  • Im Rob's wife !

  • Damn...Im going to make my husband a sirloin steak, baked potato and apple pie now...

  • Dionne was the best singer I have ever heard, I have heard many, and I think they are all good, but Dionne is way above the rest. As in this tune, she comes across as wise and innocent, in love and also willing to trust and be accountable. She was like that to her fans, she never let us down. She was like the perfect love; faithful, giving, beautiful and strong. I am still amazed at the innocent and inspiring quality of her voice. She is a gift to all, timeless, majestic, lovely..thanks!!!

  • Whitney Houston couldn't hold her aunt's garter belt....now Dionne Warwick's a talented voice for the ages. I've always loved her.

  • julia roberts le mariage de mon meilleur ami j adore cette chanson la scene au resto géniale super cool

  • the verses are: 3 bars of 4/4, then one of 2/4, then 3 of 4/4 (repeat)

    the choruses are: 2 bars of 4/4, 1 of 3/4, 2 of 4/4, 1 of 3/4, then 3 of 4/4

only bacharach can make that sound effortless.

  • I remember this song back in the 70's when I was small, brings back memories.

  • So much talent.....the Sixties had a way of condensing the power of the time into the sound of the music.

  • i say little prayer for you dionne warwick!!!!!!!!

  • Love Dionne....what a voice!

  • Damn good song, 67 was it?

  • time signature of verse: 10/4 time signature of chorus: 11/4

  • Comment removed

  • @WadeLeBosh dude no its not. It changes. listen to it carefully. If you count in 4/4 it messes up the count.

  • @WadeLeBosh oh and the chorus is DEFINITELY in 11/4 LISTEN TO IT

  • @wwelibra My mistake, but listen to where the naturally occurring accents in the song fall. It's in 4 with tags (mixed meter but certainly not 10/4)... not that complicated.

  • This is my favorite version of all.

  • You've gotta have a special voice in order to sing this and Dionne Warwick, Aretha Franklin, and Michael Buble have that kinda voice.

  • thumbs up if glee brought you here jk

  • ●Wonderful , Very Nice !! from JAPAN Fukushima My Home Is Nuclear Plant !!!

  • Great song.

    Such an amazing voice.

    I love it.

  • Dionne and Burt, what a duo! She's the greatest!

  • a beautiful voice, awesome song, sweet as honey

  • Desde niño la escuchaba en la radio, siempre me agradó, y aun me parece muy linda cancion.

  • @juanillojperez Beautiful song.. one of my faves by Ms. Dionne!! Thank you my friend for sharing.. I am going to say a little prayer for you!!

Thank you @Joaoloureirooficial for an awesome post!

  • good song...

  • Wow! The memories from this song!! Dionne Warwick sings beautifully! Makes it seem so natural. A & M records had a special sound, Hal David and Burt Bacharach songs. Included Henry Mancini, Herb Alpert (the "A" in A & M) , and of course Karen and Richard Carpenter. Ms. Warwick was the orginial.

  • You know, you're right Starlifter. A & M really did have a bright sound. Dionne's voice is lighter than air here, esp. as she dances across the tops of the notes, 1:40-1:43, and 1:51-to 1:54. Thanks for jogging an old and pleasant memory.

  • 4 People donde get prayers very often

  • I discovered her when I was a teenager and Ive loved her since granted im 23

  • The songs in the 60's & 70's were harmonious & easy to hear. Todays music except for a few are just noise to the ears.

  • I suppose everything in life is relative. We, of this music's generation, ask why they don't write songs like this anymore. In thirty or forty years, today's youth will ask why they don't write songs like Kanye, Lady Gaga, and Justin Beiber used to. Though I'm glad I was born then and not now.

  • This is the song that I've looked for !

  • nice

  • I saw it in Glee :D

  • at 2:39 those trumpets make me cry...reminds me sad moments in my life.

  • This was written by Hal David to convey a womans point of view over the concern of their men fighting in Vietnam.

  • @JamesTKirkCobain That is the first time I heard that. Makes the song very special, for those of us who lived through that time. It was a surreal time for lots of us teenagers, especially when we went in the Army. Thanks for the interesting note.

  • この曲は今から40年ほど前、私が中学生のころ、洋楽好きな友人宅で

    45回転のシングル盤で聞いたのがはじめてでした。一発ではまったのをとても懐かしく覚えています。ありがとうございます。

  • beautiful song, beautiful lady

  • Timeless song by a singer I always admired, Dionne Warwick!

  • The classic song of yesteryears. Bravo!!! Dionne. I really love the 60's music.

  • Love this tune!!! Thanks for posting it!!

  • Essa versão original é a que mais gosto. Agradeço muito a postagem.

  • Burt Bacharach and Hal David were the greatest. Hit after hit. Thank you

  • Burt B and Hal D were the greatest. Hit after hit. Thank you

  • Damn...I think I'm gonna go make love to my wife now.

  • @selah2raili Thumbs up on that !!

  • @selah2raili can i watch?

  • @selah2raili lol

  • i can sing this song the whole day<3

  • Valeu pelo post. Gosto muito dessa musica

  • Thank you!

  • Questa versione è insuperabile.

    This version is the best.

  • @valeriosirolo could'nt agree more

  • The orchestra arrangement for this version is true classic 60's!. Definitely the greatest!

  • This is my favriote version!

  • could someone remind me of a song that starts with the same trumpet thing at the start of this song. a guy sings it but i cant remember the name of the song or the artiste.

  • Maybe you can tell something about the personality or psychology of the listener by analyzing which version of a song they prefer. Even a lack of preference could be an indicator.

  • Maybe you can tell something about the personality or psychology of the listener by analyzing which version of a song they prefer.

  • This is one of the most "Feel Good" songs of its decade. Nobody does it better than Dionne Warwick.

  • When I was 9 years old I remember going to stay with my aunt on summer vacations and she would play so many records from her collection. This brings back those summer's I stayed with her...and yes, we danced to them.. She is no longer with me but I will listen and remember and still dance with her...

  • I think Aretha's vocal virtuosity shines in her version, leaving Dionne's sounding just a little tame in comparison.

  • @FDosty They are so different; you can't really compare them. I think they are both great in their own ways. Remember - two vocalists with totally different singing styles.

  • When I hear this by Dionne, I am just in Heaven. The same for Aretha's version. The song is that great, I suppose.

  • Thanks for posting this, I remember hearing this when I was 6 yrs old, on 8 track in my Dad's car, before he had to go TDY again. I used to sing along with it, when I missed him I'd hum it to myself. This song and "Tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree", will always remind me of the War and my Dad, I'm so grateful he came home and I think of those who didn't.

  • Ahhh thank you baby....xoxox

  • I love this beautiful song!!! XD

  • Ooo another FAVORITE! XD

  • I like Aretha's version better because it's one keynote higher than Dionne's version.

  • Dionne's version is classic top 40 and the standard. Aretha's version is a soulful re-interpretation of a great pop song. For this song to have reached the top of the charts twice with two completely different interpretations says a lot about the song and the artists. Extraordinary.

  • this song makes me flying;;; love it

  • What a gorgeous voice... gorgeous songs.

  • In my humble opinion only beautiful.

  • Her phrasing is amazing. So talented.

  • What a team! Dionne, Bacharach and, for me, Hal David's lyrics.

This was an anti- war song! Written right in the middle of the Vietnam era; every wife/girlfriend/mom's life in song.

  • This is Dionne's song, not Aretha's! Written by Burt for Dionne!

  • OKAY, Sports Fans... it is once again time for Pop Music DeathMatch

In the red corner -- Dionne Warwick.

In the blue corner -- Reefuh Franklin.

Q1: Who could kick who's ass?

Q2: WHY is your champion capable of winning her bout?

NOTE: your answer to Q1 does NOT COUNT unless you've provided an answer to Q2. That's the way this series of Poop Star DeathMatch is played.

MY ANSWER: Dionne, because she hosted solid gold and her hits were more mainstream than Reefuh.

    Provide yer answers

  • biiiig virtual hugs to you for putting the ORIGINAL on here!!!!! Sooooo tired of live/covers,etc. Aretha's version is epic, but the original Dionne Warwick version is the best:)

  • she is awesome

  • who sang the original ms warwick or aretha franklin?

  • @JAYFORJAY Dionne!

  • @JAYFORJAY It was sung by Warwick she was Bacharach's muse. Written for the Broadway Show Promises Promises

  • @JAYFORJAY Warwick 1967, La Belle 1968.

  • @JAYFORJAY Dionne sang the original, then later Aretha recorded it. Each version is so different from the other; both are great. I really favor Dionne's though!!!

  • @JAYFORJAY

    miss warwick

  • This is one of those songs that I'll never forget and will always love to hear. It takes me back to Winter of '67 - '68 when my father (who was then separated from my mom) took me on a guy's weekend at the hunting camp up in northern Pennsylvania. I remember the long drive up in the snow at night and hearing this song played numerous times on the local radio station. Strangely, the windshield wipers on the Pontiac almost kept time to the music. Takes me back to being 8-yrs old again. Thnx!

  • @jupitr2 Great story! I can picture it ALL -- and can even hear (in my mind's ear) the wipers keeping the beat! ... It is a great song, and is essentially perfect -- the little piano and trumpet bits are so appealing. Thanks for making me smile this early morning.

  • What a classic. I -3 this.

  • You will never experience anything so win for the rest of your life.

  • We always feel deeply thrilled and happy whenever we listen to her. Thank you so much. God Bless you!

  • Exactly the way studio recordings should be: perfection. When she almost whispers "My darling believe me"---knock me over with a feather.

  • Forever and ever you'll stay in my heart, and I will love you forever and ever we never will part oh how I love you.....together forever thats how it must be to live without you would only be heartbreak for me.......... This song makes me giddy

  • This song is lighter than air, esp. from 1:41-1:44, and 1:52 to 1:55, as Dionne dances across the tops of the notes.

  • This is such a tender little song, and she sounds so nice here:)

  • Isn't she just wonderful!!!

  • I'm looking for a song called LOVE that she performs in an ep that has ,I SAY A LITTLE PRAYER FOR YOU ,THE WINDOWS OF THE WORLD and maybe another song.

  • Aretha sang this too. But with soul. Unfortunately, though, I can't post the link as You Tube is totally fucked up.

  • A true classic. As a side note of musical trivia, Dexter Gordon does a semi-quote of this song on the title piece from his album, The Panther, recorded the summer of 1970. Very fine.

  • I still like Aretha's version better. But this song is amazing...and so is Dionne.

  • forever forever you´ll be in my heart!!!! goodbye my love

  • She is so very good a singer and I remember her from my childhood and am now 59..she has staying power with that wonderful voice of hers

  • Me encanta esta cancion, es linda

  • Dionne's version is great but Aretha's version is sensational.

  • @iw32 Aretha's version is also great, but they are so different from each other; it's like comparing apples and oranges. I love them both!

  • Love how refreshing and soothing her rendition of this song is. Have heard a few versions of this song, but this here is the best!

  • I LOVE IT!!!

  • No one can hold a candle to this one!

  • et elle arrive toujours à me faire pleurer.........

  • Beautiful. The original is wonderful. I'm so happy that other people respect and like the song, to give respectable covers. This song is legendary.

  • for mi the original is better thousend times vs aretha sorry!!!!!!!!!!!

  • She's a minx

  • Best song ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • no quiten esta cancion es de mis favoritas ..gracias por subirla

  • One of the best pop songs ever written. I especially love the key change at the beginning at 0:15, 0:16. A true classic! Whoever gave this one thumbs down - you are sooooo out-numbered!!!!!! And so deluded!

  • Superb Bacharach arrangement and song with Dionne doing what she did best. It doesnt get much better ..thank you.

  • De que ano é esta musica???

Eu a conheci na versão ao vivo!!!

    "What year is this music???

    I met on live version!!!"

  • The intro is wonderful - only Burt would put 2 key changes in before the song starts lol. The trumpet is Burt's second instrument - thats probably him playing those short breathy notes. Lovely.

  • Parabéns ao postar essa música. Dionne é maravilhosa. Essa música é clássica de grande valor.

  • brilliant!!!!

  • Long ago Hal David said this was an anti-war song; the Vietnam War.

    And Dionne was never better.

What magic it must have been when Burt Bacharach, Hal David, and Dionne Warwick entered a studio!

  • this song SOOOO>> reminds me of my Mommy God Bless You Mommy
