This is the sound of uneasy happiness. The aching guitars; the anxious chord changes. 'French Film Blurred' is, for me, their most delicate piece. It's a perfect balancing of the fickle moods of one stricken with anxiety. Whenever I listen, I can't help but feel a man in private struggle with himself. 0:56 - 1:27 is one last lunge for peace of mind. Then there is the mocking repeat of the opening notes. At 1:37, he is broken. The downward spiral and the inevitable suicide concludes.
two Spoon songs sound a lot like this: Lines In The Suit and (less Something To Look Forward To). I always had the Wire-Spoon relationship in mind, but couldn't quite find perfect examples. This is it.
This has space, isolation, desolateness, slight Enoness, sounds like he recorded the vocals inside an elevator and the rest of them recorded in a cave.Even "Can" would be proud of this,in my top 1000.
Also one of my personal favorites from Wire. I always loved that they wouldn't stick to one sound, every track on the albums would be differently flavored.
