My grandfather owns this place and my boyfriend and I are looking at purchasing it from him. I can't attest to any true haunting. I was just there today, and there was certainly someone in there, but probably just a squatter...I didn't want to go in to find out who it was, haha.
@bnbelbhlpwf I posted the comment regarding my mother having lived there back in the 1930's. I'm planning a trip to Greenville in a couple of months and I was wondering if I might be able to look at the old place and take some photos. I don't even know exactly where its located. My contact e-mail is: 562044@gmail.com. Thanks, jgert45
My mother lived in this house from about 1930 to 1941 with her parents and 10 siblings which makes me doubt some of the things that have been said here. Does anyone know if it is still standing?
I was at the orphanage today - all the trees and shrubs on your video are gone - all the windows are boarded up and / or broken. It doesn't look like the owner is doing any repair work. I was told that it has been added to the Historic Registry.
Anybody know the current situation on this place?I drove by and it has been abandoned and condemmed.whoever last planned on fixing it up seems to have left in a hurry.hate to see this historical place just waste away...

I did some research on the Oddfellows orphanage at the Greenville library and there are numerous reports and newspaper clippings in the SC room telling the story of Mr.Vaughn, the man who ran the place until he was convicted of raping at least 4 underage girls and performing abortions on them, unlawfully medicating the children and reports of dead babies and body parts found in and around the home in the 1960's.Vaughn escaped jail&electric chair, and comitted suicide in Florida at the age of 42.

They were kind of loners did not come out of the house much. She was in a wheel chair the from the day they moved in so her health was never great. The were dog breeders of some sort they had about 25 dogs running in and around the back of the house. I knew the owners before them they sold the house when they got to old to maintain it. I think that they moved into a retirement home when they left the house. We were closer to them my dad and uncles grew up with their kids.
I remember seeing several "doggie" doors in the house, and places where dogs must have been locked in bathrooms and clawed up the doors. At one time, the husband had posted some strange information about the house, and the sad situation with his wife. Don't know it first hand, but was told he died not long after she did, after he moved out. I wanted to restore it to its original vintage glory.
I was attempting an offer on the house just prior to its last sale. Curious, did you know the prior owner and his wife, prior to the current owners? Know there was some tragedy, perhaps with his wife?
My family has lived next door to this house for 50+ years. We have been in and out of this house numerous time and have NEVER seen or heard of any thing haunting this house. I think because of the history of this house people are wanting to make something out of nothing. We have heard the rumors and seen the people trying to video and take pictures but they will not catch what is not there. I would sleep in this house on Halloween night with out a worry in the world.
That's nice to know, but it doesnt negate the dark history of the house prior to the 1940s. I have spent hours in this house alone in the past, both by day and early evening. A definite feeling of dread when in the house, particularlly in the bedrooms on the second floor. Still wondering if the new owner(s) are going to continue working on the house.
What we are being told is that they are going to auction off the home sometime within the next 2-3 months. I was not trying to say the house and all the area does not have a dark history around it, but with family living next door for 50+ years we have not heard anything
