and yeh you can stop with your foot but if you were goin damn fast and you had to turn a corner you can reach for a brake quick sharp, but with your foot you have to get your foot to the back tyre and push really hard to stop fast. no need to be honest, and you can do all kinds of stalls with a back brake,

so although brakes weigh your bike down, they are better to have in my opinion.
