  • "A little religious communications might not be a bad idea at this stage of the game. Now myself, I don't take any chances. I talk to Muhammad, Buddha, Mr. Jesus H. Christ, and any other religious honchos I can come up with. There is no such thing as an atheist in a combat situation. Now we don't have a chaplain here, but I don't see that as any major setback. You can rest assured you will not go in that bag until I have said a few appropriate words over you." - R. Lee Ermey

  • This whole scene is made to feel proud for being a human.

  • Buliwyf = Beowulf

The danish translation of the viking prayer, and though danish today is nowhere close to the old viking language, I felt it was the right thing to do.

  • @9sunlotionisgay9 Very nice. Thanks for the translation, though I have no idea how to actually pronounce it.

  • 2:47 for best prayer!

  • i don't give a shit what cricts say, this is definetely one of the best momements in whole movie history

  • He had his straight broadsword fashioned into a curved Kilij by the metalsmith. Why is he shown at the end scene with a broadsword again?

  • @Varangian1915 When they dive to escape the Wendol cave they leave their weapons behind. Everyone has new weapons in this scene.

  • Epic movie, and great performances all round. I don't care about the supposed inauthentic prayer and the anachronistic weapons and armour; it is a great and timeless story of brave men in battle and that proclamation we see here sums up neatly what we imagine they thought in those days. Love the movie, and especially love this clip. Thanks for posting it.

  • @Mabelreign Love this movie. Who needs oversized CGI fortresses and what looks like millions of soldiers if you can have a bunch of cavemen invade a run down village guarded by around a dozen Vikings and an Arab? Might not sound epic, but it is XD

  • @Mabelreign My pleasure.

  • Sublime Allahou Akbar and Long Live Thor

  • I was at Epcot a couple months ago with my wife and we were at the Norway exhibit looking at viking artifacts. I began this prayer and to my surprise several men in the room joined in :) We all then got some mead and exchanged emails.

  • @hashashin821 That would've been so cool to witness/be a part of.

  • i like to see beauty in all religion, there are many truths

  • Amen brother.

  • He could have been praying to [name]. Not important. What is important is he found strength in his faith. Otherwise why even pray?

I'm not going to join in the "my religion's better than yours" argument. It's an argument that has no winner, but many losers.

  • @Rhyas9 Exactly.

  • @Rhyas9 your an idiot, death settles who is a winner and a loser.your guessing like the rest.

  • @dizzypilots1 [You're] free to have [your] own opinion on the subject. Doesn't help [your case] though if [you're] trying to force [your] opinion on others with insults.

    C wat I did thar?

  • @moduledeposit GO DIE IN A DITCH YOU HEATHEN!

  • Two Vendol escapees disliked this video.

  • merciful father my ass.....

  • allahou akbar

  • In the halls of Valhalla where the brave, they live FOREVER!!

  • "May Allahs blessing be upon pagan men who shared there food and shed there blood so that I might become a man and a proper servant of God."

  • this movie was filmed ten minutes from house...

  • fuck allah. And why does banderas have a Viking sword when he prays, when earlier in the movie, he made a kilij out of it, which should be a curved sword.

  • @Varangian1915 you are retard ..

  • ALLAH,i worship YOU,i pray to YOU,there is no god but YOU

  • @OnlineAzerbaijan agreed, those fellows should be praying to Allah

  • As many before me have stated: This movie is criminally underrated.

  • This was a truly underrated film. It deserved more credit than it recieved.

  • I LOVE this moment. Thank you so much for posting. For me, I love the simple humility of Ahmed's prayer and the chest out/stand your grand fierceness of the Vikings. Two ways to love/express to God. LOVE it!! Thanks again for posting. :)

  • so now when the fag with the horns got cut down it harshed the mellow of all the other bear people and they had to high tail it back to the cave to smoke more weed, is that it?

  • @Varangian1915 they make movies like The Fast &The Furious and Transformers people like you.

  • perkele...

  • WE muslems .. when we are praying , not saying "Merciful Father" . BUT ..

saying " ALLAHOMA . it is mean : our god , ALLAH ,.

AND ANOTHOR NAMES HE IS HAS .

he has 99 names , they are called " the most beautiful names" . 99

such as .. Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

when you pray for him , he will Responds to you .

    IF HE WANT THAT .

  • @SOLIDSHIPUDEN Nothing against your religion but the random capitalisation of words in your text makes it quite hard to follow. Speak your words, if the have meaning they will be heard, no need to shout

  • @preachermuaddib

DUDE ... What's up in my words?

    i do not shout . only ,,

I want to correct an error in the scene .

BECOUSE ; it speaks about us

    ـــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــ

thank you for your advice preachermuaddib .

  • Why do so many people have to use absolutely EVERYTHING as an excuse to get up on their soapbox??? Meanwhile, they completely miss the point of the scene here. Makes me think of Jeff Dunham's puppet, Peanut, going, "Hey, Bob. Neeeowww!" Right over their heads, it goes.

  • This seane gives me the shivers .. allways. for me its one of the most beautiful parts of the movie <3 TY for posting it

  • Religion is not of only text or institutions. It is about one's belief in what they hold true to their hearts. If you stand next to someone in times of great strife dropping any ignorance of hate and fear to hold fast. Well then that makes you a man. A person I would gladly recognize and believe in. People forgot the premise of their prayers they were few to stand against so many to protect those who could not. In my life I failed to meet a man who does not look up in times of strife.

  • I say this with heart and memories. Every man (I do mean men only) will, have or are enduring challenges of which they look to the sky, earth, winds or all of existence to know they made their stand. It matters not if you believe or do not. I know that what we do does echo in history. This world has broken our will to me as men of what we as men ought to be. Nor Race, religion, preference or hate be in the way of what your heart holds true if one such brother stands next to you hold that line.

  • @1337desertrat Men olny? so women are bereft of such qualities? From what I know honour and courage lies within the heart and mind, not between the legs

  • I wish everyone would just see at this moment he is not just a arab he is not a nothman at this moment he is a man fighting withe men who have become his brothers this is the true warrior way doesnt matter your skin your religion at the end its about being a man and fighting the good fight

  • الله اكبر .. لا اله الا الله محمد رسول الله .. تحياتي انا عربي ورافع راسي

  • It amazes me how a simple, positive post, turns into a battle about ideology and beliefs.

  • @madonnabarnard1 I didn't intend for it to turn into this fiasco. But someone always feels the need to piss in someone else's Wheaties.

  • @Ovrkyl great post brother awesome forget them haters true believers have tolerance for all others faith

  • "Don't let them be taken".But you will be taken.Soon all of Europe will serve the muslams.Forever.You did't get the message of this movie.

It's better to die standing on your feet when to live on your knees.

  • @Cheburashka207

We are English, and we have our brothers. NO WE WILL NEVER SERVE YOU.

  • @Cheburashka207

But should I be sunni or shia or even sufi or B' hai? I don't want to be killed by the religion of peace because I chose the wrong cult.

    You can't run shit.

  • drink everytime you see the horns of power

  • Underated movie by all means... Every year, I watch it again and again. Same feelings conquer me. How many historical movies are so accurate and so ..different? It's not about the all mighty hero who destroys his enemies with a stroke...This movie is about MEN and their FRIENDSHIP, SACRIFICE AND FAITH. Lovely story.

  • A great quote from "Kingdom of Heaven".

"I put no stock in religion. By the word 'religion' I've seen the lunacy of fanatics of every denomination be called the will of God. I've seen too much religion in the eyes of too many murderers. Holiness is in right action and courage on behalf of those who cannot defend themselves. And goodness, what God desires, is here (points to the head) and here (points to the heart). By what you decide to do every day, you will be a good man. Or not."

  • @Ovrkyl faith and religion, sometimes two very different things

  • My favourite too

  • Allah ist he best god of all i am muslim i love allah

  • Lo, there do I see my Father..

Lo, there do I see my Mother..

And my Sisters and my Brothers..

Lo, there do I see the line

Of my people back to the beginning..

Thay do bid me to take my place among them..

    In the Halls of Valhalla,

Where the Brave may live forever.

  • Don't walk behind me Im not your leader

Don't walk in front of me I may not follow

Just walk beside me and give me cover

  • That scene still gives me chills. One may prays for strength to make it through a few minutes. The other man prays because he knows his end is near and must make his final stand to stand in the hall of his ancestors. Say what you want about Norse/Viking culture, Islam, or any religion. They ALL have their merits and faults. We as mere humans are arrogant to thinnk that God is always on our side regardless of which side we fight for. But fighting for what is right is always just.

  • this movie is based on a book by michael crighton. who based the book on a real arab manuscript that was found. michael proposes in the book that the vendo were not real humans and just might have been wiped out by the northman. good read, give it a try.

  • @windymeadows2

I wonder if the mongols have attacked the ancient vikings territory in 12th century?

  • old movies are better than today.in this movie a hero is a muslim and arab let a lone that he prays and practise. this is one of my favorite movies for this reason.

  • @jojzoro if you are into books look up miki waltari. he wrote "the egyptian", "the roman" and a few more. in his books he loosely follows the customs of that time and the so called "hero" is not a hero. different

  • @87Timbuktu Our father who art in heaven

  • @RedneckVandal He's a Berber(Moor) Al Andulus will rise again Allah Akbar!

  • This is an awesome fucken movie.

  • That must be why Britons like Sean Connery and John Rhys-Davies have also played Arabs so well, retarded & dishonest Negro from the Bronx clumsily trying to pass as a "redneck"

    I

    I

    I

    v

    "RedneckVandal"

  • i am a muslims but i really believe in humanity i really believe in diversity i come from tanzania africa where christians hindus and muslims share a same country and it is beautiful when people dont let their difference cause hatred instead appreciation, inshallah one day we will all share this earth together muslims hindus jews budhist christians and all the religion of the world lets just repect each others differences, amin

  • @ ovrkyl, you dont have to explain yourself, this is a great non-denonimal prayer, and all faiths should say!

  • Conan prayer and then this!

  • Antonio is spanish and like all of us, have muslim, jewish, christian blood...Spain is a true melting pot! it takes time to be a melting pot and the US hasnt had time!!

  • I'm christian, but do you see this muslim caracter? this is I belive to be a muslim... to have honor, to have courage with other non-muslim, to have that old and forgoten nobility called HONOR... no matter what religion we are... when it comes about fights for our friends, family and home, there is no race, religion or nation... IN THE HALLS OF VALHALLA where the brave may live forever.

  • dont worrie little brother...there are more!

  • This is a very old prayer...and as a modern day Heathen, I want this to be the last words out of my mouth...

  • @FollowerOfTheGods I couldn't agree more brother

  • well thats kind of badass, stopping a massive cavalry assault unarmoured and on foot^^

however one of the best films i saw yet. And this is the most epic scene^^

(and forget religion..this is how it should be..forget about religious differences and stand together, to save whats worth living for..religion in my opinion is just worth killing for. I prefer living.)

  • Skip to 2:46 for the prayer

  • I am a Muslim and I think this is one of the best roles of Antonio Banderas!

  • Great scene!

  • ODIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ODIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think this prayer was also used under "blot".. or sacrifise to the gods..

  • by the way, real ibn Faldan had met with russians (russ or slavs), not scandinavians.

    However, nice movie

  • may i live the next minutes well....

  • amin to toy all my brother :)

  • allah and god same muslim and jewish and christain brothers because same god

  • @yamsid true what you said brother.

  • One thing unite us all -the mankind. We were created by One God, the God of all of us. And the duty that comes from the faith to One God is to spread the good and fight aganst the evil in all over the world. And this duty lays on each of us. One more to my these words -I am alhamdulillah a muslim, that means being obeyed to One God the Most Merciful, Most Gracious.

  • @IsmailDagestani God save the religion of Islam

  • @bogylord8 AMEEN brother and you too AMEEN in the holy fight against the damned satan and its servants AMEEN!

  • i will remmember this to the day i'll die, Yes i believe in what some might call ''Northern Mythology'' It's my religion! And i don't give a fuck what people say about it.

  • One thing, a Muslim would never pray a prayer that is not Islamic, not even from the Bible or the Torah, let alone a pagan prayer. Loss of faith in Allah means hell. Hollywood directors in their zeal to make movies forget to do some authentic research on the subject

  • @LoyAghanistan this film is about intercultural tolerance and understanding. Both parties respect the religion of the other and don't try to convert them. The Vikings don't try to convert "Ibn" and vice versa, both respect each other, but the important thing is, he comes to their lands, so he follows their rules, something some people today should take a lesson from! Personally I strongly dislike Islam because of people like you, who are so absolute about it. Each to his own and respect that!

  • @LoyAghanistan probably because people like you would bitch nevertheless about its authenticity. it's a movie, not a damned documentary on the muslim faith. i watch movies to be entertained. if i want to learn something, i read a book.

  • Just to clear the air, I didn't post this to promote any one religion or religion at all. Only to reflect on the depiction of the strength, courage, and faith of a few to stand against a larger and formidable foe, regardless of the outcome. Inspirational acts are just that, and stand to inspire future generations with their virtues.

I am not Muslim, nor am I Christian (though I was raised a Christian). Faith is faith, regardless of its form. And there are no atheists in foxholes.

  • @Ovrkyl: very well said! "Faith is faith, regardless of its form. And there are no atheists in foxholes."

  • @Ovrkyl

No atheists in foxholes except for e.g. Ted Williams, Pat Tillman, Ernest Hemingway, Philip Paulson ......

  • @Ovrkyl Nice.

  • @Ovrkyl ODIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Ovrkyl

You cannot be a good person and believe in fairy tales. You would be a lunatic. As are all people that believe in any religion on earth. So spare me your quasi-philosophy. Faith is absurd and religion is proven to be an enemy or rational thinking and logic. Atheists are very valid in their rejection of a deity. I understand them 100% although I am a deist and believe in a higher power. My deity can be found only through logic and reason. No other deity can claim such.

  • @evesplittheatom "Spare you my quasi-philosophy?" You didn't have to watch this video, nor did you have to comment, so how about you spare me your arrogant judgement? You don't know me, so who are you, or anyone else for that matter, to say I cannot be a good person?

I can twist your words around on you too, as you've just labelled nearly every child a bad person and a lunatic simply for believing in fairy tales.

Your opinion (NOT fact) is noted. Goodbye.

  • @Ovrkyl

No I didn't have to watch. But I choose to. Just as you did. And like you, I left a comment you POS. Who am I? I am a logician and yes, I qualify to classify people that believe in myths as "insane". Jung, Freud, Bacon, Aristotle and many others qualify as well. Now go to church with the rest of your loony pals.

  • @evesplittheatom Interesting...an illiterate logician. I say illiterate because you obviously didn't read jack shit of anything I'd previously written. "I am not Muslim, nor am I Christian." Also, "I didn't post this to promote any one religion or religion at all." Therefore, LOGICALLY, your "go to church" comment is moot. I never said this was a fairy tale to believe in. Rather it's an inspiring depiction of warriors mustering their strength before battle, same as for many war movies.

  • @Ovrkyl Wellsaid. "Qualify" says who? This reminds me a lot of people who through around the term Normal. Who makes this rules anyhow?

  • @Ovrkyl "Where the brave may live forever"

I think we all can agree on this term regarding any religion there might be...

  • @Ovrkyl "And there are no atheists in foxholes."

    Demonstrably untrue.

  • Pray to Allah he will save you i am muslim to allah is the biggest god ever

  • the King is Here.We those about to die Salute you.lead us and we will follow always no matter what the weather or nature says.we will die 4 a great King like U..the Armies of Hell have gather in our door step and we will take then back no matter what it takes.

  • hahahaha thats not Muslim prayer.

  • @Hammama A true moslem would never refer to 'allah' as father. If you watch the movie it is interesting that when he meets the vikings they ask him to tell them a story and he recites from the book of Genesis.I agree with you, that's not a moslem prayer as Islam does not allow for a personal intimate relationship with 'allah'.Islam is a relationship of 'submission' or slavery not love between man and God.

  • @zombiekiller117 It is a relationship of love actually... as well as submission. We love 'Allah' for all the favors he's done upon us: vision, sight, income, health in general, kids, and everything we have in life is a favor from Allah. Even when we disobey Allah, he will accept our true repentance because he is MUCH MORE loving of his servants than a mother of her children and much more merciful. Matter of fact, a Muslims relationship with Allah is much stronger than a Christian's with 'Jesus'.

  • @zombiekiller117 You are right, there is no father son relationship between Allah and man in Islam. Allah is the creator of all according to Islam, but he is not the father of anyone or anything. In fact saying that Allah is my father would be considered as Blasphemy in Islam. And I disagree with Hammama, the relationship between Muslims and Allah is not the same as relationship between Christian and Jesus, its not even close. Allah is the master and the entire creation is his slave.

  • @LoyAghanistan so he approves of me smoking weed to relieve my insane back pain right?

  • @zombiekiller117 He dont even look like an arab...

  • @zombiekiller117 A muslim does not call God his "father" because that is comparing God to His creation, and it is degrading to him. That does not mean it is not a loving relationship. In fact, there are many instances in the Qur'an where Allah is described as loving and merciful. That a muslim calls himself the slave of Allah, is a result of his extreme humbleness before God.

  • @shiromori I appreciate you taking time to reply. You have provided a facinating insight to the moslem mind.

  • @zombiekiller117 As for the "intimate relationship", contrast: a Christian must pray to Jesus as an intermediary to God. In Islam, there is no intermediary. Allah says: "Whoever approaches Me by the length of a hand-span, I will approach him by a cubit. Whoever approaches Me by a cubit, I will approach him by the length of two outstretched arms. If anyone comes to Me walking, I will approach him running" and "I am with My slave as long as his lips are moving with My rememberance " (Bukhari)

  • I hope that he becomes Muslim inshaAllah!

  • lol should have given Banderas a beard in the movie, since it was customary for Muslims to have a kept beard during that era. Especially since the Vikings already had them. Besides, beards are badass.

  • @omarshaolin well, actually you have it all wrong, if Muslims were peaceful, how did they survive back then? you know, like what this movie is based off of, also, Terrorism does have a religion, not quite sure what it was, but i know there is one, there is no such thing as a normal person, we are all different ;) have a nice day

  • Insanity, he does not have armour on. What a King!

  • @AesaFilms

If you read the book Eaters of the Dead, you'll see that bulvai is possessed by Odin for the last battle, and he needs no armor

  • So nice,, I bare wideness that there is one god witch is Allah and Mohammed is his last prophet ,, we pray to god for forgiveness for the mankind,,

  • Tony Banderas is a spanish man and a Christian in reality.

  • I do not subscribe to muslims or the ways of the muslim. I would fight alongside this muslim though. I only wish muslims were as brave as my people. "For all we ought to have done, but did not do....I pray thee God, forgivness".

  • Manowar should make a sountrack for this great film...

  • best scene of a very underrated movie

  • What are those knives for at :55?

  • Killing the children.

  • @jabames Those knives were probably knives they used for cooking and the women used to protect themselves with. It would be better to kill the children than to let the enemy get them as they would torture them before they killed and then ate them.

  • If the fortress is taken, the knives are for the Mothers to kill the children, rather then let the mauraders take them.

  • Very Beautiful Scene If only we could all be so full of courage and nobility.

  • @MrWesley3000 You are so right. A wonderfull display of courage and character...

  • That "Muslim" prayer is certainly not one... must have been made up. Muslims never pray to any "Merciful Father". The word "father" never appears in any of their prayers. They always pray to either God (Allah) or to the Lord (Rabb).

Nice piece of acting in the video, though! :o)

  • true we pray only to God.

  • father is ment as lord/god, because he "gave birth" to life and us ... so its metaphorical, as in christianity when they say father to god

  • We understand that "Father" is used metaphorically... but by Christians, NOT Muslims. So, its mention here supposedly by a Muslim in the film is incorrect. We agree that "Father" when used to mean "God" can only be metaphorical, including when used by Jesus himself. Jesus called himself the Son of God and the Son of Man, both metaphorically. And he called all men children of God, again metaphorically. Christians should not mean "Son of God" literally, no more than "Son of Man" is literal.

  • @AesaFilms: I am a real Muslim, and I never, and will never, blow up anybody. You seem to be living in the fictional world that exists mostly on Fox News. Maybe for some reality you should look at the Inquisition torture and killings of millions by the "Holy" Catholic Church. Visit my channel and check out the video on the Inquisition. Do not look for the straw in the eye of your brother, when there is a beam in your own eye, my friend. Jesus=love for all, but you preach hatred towards Muslims.

  • @Peace4everynation you forgot 9-11 that was not fiction

  • @windymeadows2 : 9-11 had nothing to do with Islam. It was an act of political and economic revenge carried out by extremists. Extremists of all faiths are alike. We deplore the deaths of 9-11. A few thousand people died on that day for no fault of their own. Yet, the whole religion of Islam is being blamed for the crime of madmen. When Christians go and kill almost 1 MILLION Iraqis, blowing up children, old people ,women, animals... is that a just gesture for truth, freedom and democracy?

  • @Peace4everynation all americans do not hate the muslims.....most of us understand it is a faith of peace...(we have idiots too)..our governament did what it thought necessary to protect our freedom and democracy...if we were that bad a nation we would have kept what we conquored..we instead tried to help...i m not intelect enough said....peace be with you.....the movie was great and the prayers scene and words epic....i pray that i will have the courage to face death and say both prayers

  • @windymeadows2 : I know all Americans do not hate Muslims. The general population is loving and kind. Your Government (and also mine in the UK) did NOT do what they thought necessary to protect freedom and democracy. That is more than evident. Fanatic SAUDIS blew up the Twin Towers, so the US and UK go after IRAQ? They stayed on to HELP??? To help drain the country of its OIL, yes! The whole "War on Terror" mantra is a scam to steal the OIL and GAS of poor Muslim nations including Afghanistan.

  • @Peace4everynation

Yup. 100% accurate in every way. Of course, filthy, pig Jews are pulling all the strings. Controlling White gentiles to destroy their Arab enemies. Good old Christians... Fools then and now and always will be.

  • Do you guys know that this movie is based on a true story?.I like it alot!

  • Banderas is from Andalusia, the southernmost province of Spain, and probably actually has Arabic ancestry as such

  • This movie was panned!' Why?

I love it! I've watched it many times and it really makes me feel trancendent.

I am half middle eastern and half Viking stock so it really moves me

  • Antonio Banderas is a great actor. He's just cool.

  • where the brave men live foreveeerr!!

  • Great movie. Great scene! Love it. Thanks for posting!
