Great video, my favourite of all the YouTube posts. We saw this launch from Titusville and it was perfect. Worth the trip from Glasgow, Scotland !! Wish we could make it for the last one, hope you're there and post another fantastic video. You rock, man.
@elbigjim - we hat 2+1 great Weeks in Florida. The (+1) Week was an unexpected Present from Eyjafjallajökull. Ok, Present my be the wrong Word bec we have to pay the Motel by ourself. But now i can tell 2 Stories: 1 about the Shuttle and 1 about the canceled Flight ;)
That's sick. I have a video of it from about 25 minutes south of Jacksonville. If anyone can tell me what the strange blue gas is or the weird vapor trail thing i caught on tape is it would be very much appreciated. The blue gas stuff is at about the 3:55min mark in the video. I'm not trying to get a lot of views on the video, I just want some answers. Thanks and God Bless.
@onslaught42 its the reflection of the sunrise in the space shuttle vapor trails... we saw it over here for hours. There are some folks who caught that on video also. Some called it Dragon Heart of Rocket Plume. check it out.
GREAT video! I was nearby at the NASA Causeway watching! It was my 5th attempt to see a launch and when it finally happened it couldn't have been any more perfect!
Aces on this one, Discovery sure sounded extra powerful this AM! Elbigjim, thanks for posting these.. I got to view Discovery from the tracking station on Cape Road last week, but your vids are as close as I'm going to get to seeing a real STS launch.. Keep 'em coming brother!
definently 5 stars bro! I really love your enthusiasm and I agree that that is my most fave kind of sunrise!! i live in titusville too and when I was watching out of my bedroom window, I thought that thing was about to break. my mom thought it was a freaking earthquake!!!!
I love you video! I was there this morning in Titusville for what I thought was a great view. You had the view! Very nice. Great enthusiasm and excitement in your voice.
OMG!!!!!! I was in Titusville watching this today. Where were you?? I came from Indiana to see this for the first time (drove my Delorean all the way to Florida) and I have no words to describe it!!! I wish I could have been closer to hear it better!
Thanks for this video man!!!!! FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
haha i wish i was there but my hopes were brought down when i heard the shuttle was being retired god luck for them and god luck on your mission astro Jim

To all you lucky people who have been present at a launch I say value the experience denied people like me who aren't of the USA.
At 7 years old I had a tie with planets and rockets on it. I am now 59 and astounded at the progress made.
I wish I could have been there to feel my chest vibrate to the power.
This is the most awesome (and expensive :-) culmination of humanity's ability, yet most people are heedless.
