Half black / flip here representin. Only lived in the P.I. till I was a little under 2 years old though so never had any "racial" problems there. Have it enough in the U.S. and racism happens everywhere so you can't really get mad at that kind of stuff just have to show people your true self and they'll respect you.

I see in the comments that people have experienced discrimination in the Philippines, i for one haven't been discriminated during my years in the Philippines, but i have seen people being discriminated. The people who were being discriminated were the Igorots, the Igorots are the mountain people.. maybe some of you guys are being discriminated b/c they think you guys were Igorots idk but not all Filipinos in the Philippines are racist, the majority are very kind :)

Apparently, when this friend brough her daughters there, everybody made fun of her daughter calling her "baluga" or beluga or nigra..... in the phiilippines, it's been taught that light skin is beautiful and dark skin is ugly..... it's all spain's fault (philippines was a spanish colony for 300 years)

@mitsubishidiamante I think it's just certain people. I spent about 6 months there as a kid and not once was I ever made fun of. I actually got a lot of positive attention because I was darker. My father's black and the two or three times he's stayed there he wasn't discriminated against. I don't know if the discrimination just applies to the mixed kids. My experience was like many years ago though, I don't know how recent your experience was.

It's like the idea that you fear/hate what you don't know/ what's different. I think a lot of that stems from that too. Put together with a systematized colonial mentality for fair-skin, it can cause some discrimination.
