  • lol goemon's about 6'6 in this game

  • I think Sony made the right call.

  • to bad this game nvr saw the light of day beyond this in the USA

  • goemon looks freaking weird

  • The music is cool.. like always.

  • This looks so fucking horrible...Goemon 64 win.

  • Needs more chainpipe!!!

Y u no put no chain pipe!!!

    D:

  • I don't get it, where's the Goemon game?

In all seriousness though, I'd give the game a shot, it has a few bits that capture old nostalgia, but not much.

  • nice trailer, actually... but why didn't they put any Impact in it, if you know what I mean?

  • Fuck this.

  • *It was better when they were short...

*Looks like shit, i would prefer N64

*Why is it on PS2? would of been better on Gamecube, since it was on Nintendo :3

  • I have this game. Man its TOTALLY SHITTY

  • @horokeusensei Whats it about?

  • @Ray01Geogeass well, i dont know either, i cant read japanese. But the story seems normal and not much different from the old goemon games (forget about those futuristic titles for gba). What I couldnt stand was those graphics. They're awful!

    The controls were ok though.

  • @horokeusensei If you didn't know japanese then why'd you buy the game?

  • @Ray01Geogeass who told you I buy it? lol. I have a modded ps2, so i just buy the originals I really like, and goemon wasn't the case. In fact, I don't really care if I cant read japanese, the gameplay is what counts most, and, i've being playing japanese games since my snes (including rpgs) and never had problems with them. If I didn't play games that i couldn't read I would play none of them , since I started playing when I was 5 and learned english only at 10.

  • @horokeusensei Oh whats a modded ps2

  • @Ray01Geogeass A modded videogame is, in most of the cases, a videogame with a modification chip installed on it, this chip can enable functions that doens't come with the original setup, such as playing backups and dvds (games and video) from multiple regions.

In other words, you can download a game and burn it on an ordinary dvd-r and play it right away. ;) Pretty sick, isn't ?

  • @horokeusensei Sick? THATS TOTALLY AWSOME

  • @Ray01Geogeass if your ps2 isn't modded, you can buy a swap disc , it has the same purpose. Search for it on google, you'll like.

  • I'd be still willing to give it a try, although I do agree it doesn't look as good as the earlier Goemon games on the NES, SNES, PS1, and N64.

  • I can really see why Sony said it shouldn't have been brought over.... The modeling and animation are terrible. By the look of things, the controls probably are too.

  • Though I'm a fan of Goemon and the Mystical Ninja series, I couldn't help but feel severely let down by this game.

  • this opus looks not so bad.

those who likes goemon should appreciate this game

  • terrible!!

  • This is an excellent example of why you should never bring classics into the "next generation".

  • Why did they change the format from the n64 game? I don't get it....It was one of the best games ever.

  • N64 looks better...probably played better as well.

    VIrtual Console release? Yes please

  • noooo, goemon is not a skinny ass, and yae looks like a man, like zelos wilder from ToS

  • I love the N64-version but that looks fuckin ungly

  • thisi s a ps2 game? it looks awful

  • agree besides i liiked the chibish forms way better

  • hrmpff I will have a typical mystical ninja game like the n64 version. This game looks onely realy bad

  • @kdhanimesan I think that it would have been great with more polish and a better art style.

  • @BillyCauseyjr maybe ^^

  • Hey man, I really want this game, but I never found it to buy... does someone know where can I find an ISO of this game?? I really want it

  • Wait,

THIS WAS A WORKING DESIGNS TITLE?

Oh man, now I'm even MORE upset that it wasn't translated!

  • Anyone know the music being played in the trailer?

  • I love the fact that Sony of america shot this game down simpley because they didn't like the graphics.... shows what thought they put into the quality of their products. (ohh pretty.... let's release it in America even though it's boring as hell.... ooh compelling... but it's ugly lets leave it in Japan)

  • I LOVED the Goemon 3D game for N64 and when I saw pictures of this Goemon on PS2 I was extatic. I would've bought this game on a whim.

Such a shame it got lost in localization limbo.

  • I guess there are some series that are not meant to be seen by Western eyes. It's a shame really. so this is like the Goemon version of Zelda's Ocarina of Time which is supposed to show the very beginning of the series, or something like that. Would've been cool. I can accept change just fine as long as it works. Wonder how well this game did in Japan?

  • If only this game was released so we can know how Goemon's story really began. This games serves as the prequel and is Goemon's very first adventure and how he met everyone. So I'm not surprised he doesn't have his pipe but he does get it later in the game.

  • I still don't understand why Sony blocked out a western release of this, since it's not a 2D game or anything similar to what they usually restricted. Have this game came out also in Dreamcast, Sega wouln't have been an obstacle for Working Designs to allow western releases of this for sure. Then again, considering the Dreamcast's demise, maybe it would have been too late by then.

  • What is this nonsense, Goemon almost as tall as the enemies he faces?

  • and sadly in this one you could only play as goemon.

  • oh god, thats lame

  • I'm not likin it. Why can't they just make one like the oldies? Specifically starring Goemon on the 64. Looks quite gayed up in my opinion.

  • They did, Goemon DS went back to the old art style. In fact, in the game you can see "New Age Goemon" locked up in prison, doing time for "crimes against the series".

  • Oh i was unaware of this. It's good they know they fucked up here :P lol

  • This isn't "New Age Goemon." It's regular Goemon with a new art style. Also, do you have a picture/movie of that?

  • I could try to take a photo, I guess - I don't have any way to capture screenshots from my DS..

  • What the hell was this? It's like what they did to Bomber Man. Assholes....

  • Because people tend to dislike cel-shaded/stylized games, Not because of the culture that spawned it.

  • We understand Okami just fine, thank-you-very-much. >:(

  • Is suppose to release on the states

  • Starfy got a US release. Starfy, for chrissake! Nobody knows Starfy in America! At least some people know the Mystical Ninja games. So come on, people! Atlus; Konami; Majesco; whoever! Translate us some Goemon!

  • I totally agree with you!

  • Omg is that supposed to be Yae? She looks different when she's not pixels

  • My girlfriend is studying Japanese at uni, I wonder if she'd translate for me as I play :)

  • Ehh...I don't know, there's just something about the single English N64 game and all its weirdness and shitty camera mechanics...I think the fact that all these untranslated games exist out there makes it more special for my heart. If you'll excuse me, I have to go run diagonally along a hill and lean slightly toward the slope.

  • There were two N64 games in english.

  • Hey this game work fine so far with UsbAdvance! Would be great if a translate team could work on this game.

  • You don't know what you are talking about.

    peace

  • RIP Working Designs.

Looks like karma's finally catching up with Sony these days.

  • Good show working Designs... good show! Lucky for us we have companies like Atlus!

  • what karma is that?

  • Goemon using weapons besides his pipe?

    What is this shit?

  • Well,it's strange and stuff, but I bet Konami wouldn't had let us down with this game. They always surprassed themselves in the Goemon series.

BTW, in 2:23, you can see the same torches you find in the N64 Zelda games XD

  • They refused to release it in America because they thought it was too serious toned compared to the previous N64 and SNES Goemon games.

  • Lol, like Jak and Daxter?

  • expect ninja style!!

  • WANT!

    Looks fantastic

  • the onl ything i dont like about this game is that the characters are tall and skinny, unlike the versions on the Nintendo Systems

  • Looks like you can thank Working Designs for that. Since this wasn't developed by Konami

  • oh my....was this game even released never heard of it and im such a big fan of the N64 Games...so was it released in japan and does anyone know if this game was good?

  • dammit america!!! y have we negelcted such an awesome series as goemon? mystical ninja for 64 was freakin great and this one looked good too! its a shame we wont be seeing too much of goemon here in the states.

  • Yeah man! Another american goemon would be pretty awesome

  • and dammit europe: -.- fucking nazis usw. i don´t wanna life in germany :'( wanna back to russia!!!!

  • Theres a way to get iver your missery: be An Hero. Yeah :D

  • I hope they make Goemon for Wii.

    :3

That would be so fricken awesome!

  • Yeah, the wii needs more than just shovelware

  • I love the video, but my question is.....who are the black ninjas? are they good or bad??? ive never known alliances with goemon. My second question is is there this game for nintendo......because i dont play playstation too much, im a nintendo freak??

  • There's a game similar to this one on the Nintendo 64. It's called "Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon". It's a classic and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who has a Nintendo 64 and likes action/RPG/platformer games.

  • This game is amazing. The dungeon designs are very original. I imported this game and I loved it. F*ck Sony for preventing this game from being translated!

  • Probably an early PS2 game; the graphics look similar to the N64, and the gameplay looks similar. The characters did change their look in this game, but I like both looks, and Yae's always looked classy.

  • 64 version a lot better

  • sad to say, but it looks like utter crap.

  • was this published in japan ?or was it cancelled

  • theres a goemon game for PS2 in japan! WHO WERE THE IDIOTS WHO WERE TOO STINKING LAZY TO TRANSLATE? if its like mystical ninja and goemon's adventure, then all they need to translate is the text!Mystical Ninja was awesome! btw, what is sasuke? is he like a robot puppet or something? he's my favorite character but WHAT IN THE HECK IS HE?!?!?!?!?!

  • well they didn't bother to release all the mystical ninja games in America because they didn't feel that there was a big enough fan base here. and by the way sasuke is a robot built by that wise man character.

  • thought so but he looks like a puppet. oh well, thanks. If they released a new Mystical Ninja game then it will be like Indy jones

  • wow this makes goemon look terrible. I would much rather play the amazing N64 versions over and over. Wtf yae looks nothing like her!

  • Ok... I can think of several reasons I'm glad this game never got translated.

For starters, It isn't Mystical Ninja unless Goemon is wailing on enemies with his Pipe and Chain Pipe %100 of the time. Fuck all those weapons he had, your trusty pipe is all you need!

I hafta admit though, I like the new character designs, even though Goemon doesn't look like a clown any more, I like Sasuke's new Robot-y look.

But even if this gets translated, I'll stick with the N64 games.

  • Damn someone's gotta make an english translation of this. There should be some bootleg discs made that would work on a PS2 aswell like what I found out for all those crappy Sonic hacks on GB carts etc.

  • where can i get the emulator?!?!? any 1?

  • that's it! I'm learning Japanese now!

  • ....what he said....

  • I really would love to see this series resume here in the US.

But...I really wish it was more like the N64 version. When the chareacters were short and chubby, and there was a comical element to the animation. And these games had amazing music too! Haha

  • This looks like sh*t <.<.

    N64 is the best!

  • Agreed, although ''legend of the Mystical Ninja'' on SNES is awesome too!

  • Sony did not release this game in the U.S. of A because they basically claimed that the graphics had issues. Personally in all honesty, I have to disagree! The graphics here look awesome! The game reminds me of the Nintendo Gamecube classic "Zelda: The Wind Waker." There is a mixture here of anime and realism, which would have definitly paid respect to the original game on the NES. The N64 sequel was too short in gameplay and had too much 3D because at the time people wanted "3D gameplay."

  • I own the Japanese version, for an extremely early PS2 game that came out in the year 2000, I'd say they did a great job.

I don't think it was so much that SCEA had issues with the graphics of this game like they had with Growlanser: Generations, but rather it was red-lighted because of SCEA's claim that it contained "Japanese-style humor that's inappropriate for Americans." So Working Designs rescripted it and still it was red-lighted.

Bottom line: Sony can tell me their story walking. Jerks.

  • for a ps2 game this looks gay. Why couldnt they have been true to the fans...v.v

  • not gonna lie, this game looks like dookie compared to the N64, and Goemon's voice was stupid too

  • dookie!? more like piece of shit!

  • haha!

  • no,, a piece of shit its cooler than that...

  • ok i mean it looks ok compared to the n64 version, but it looks fucking horrible for a ps2 game!

  • Looks like Goeman was ruined on the ps2

  • Well personnaly I dont really mind any of the Goemon character changes all that much im just real pissed that sony did'nt turn it into english i mean it would have been beneficial for everyone xd the buyer's cuz we love the game and the seller's because they'd make a shit load of money off it! XD

  • Where can I buy this game?

    Looks pretty cool

  • no super Saiyan?

  • is called sudden impact

  • Goemon's too TALL!!!

    LOL he looks funny

  • i know i wet myself 0_o

  • Man, I betcha the N64 Mystical Ninjas was better than this! I WANT MY SMALL GOEMON BACK!!!

  • Its too bad the recent games haven't been in America.

I really like how they ripped off Zelda OoT.Yep I said ripoff. But was it a bad ripoff?HELL NO!

It built on the lore of Zelda Ocarina of Time, while still giving a breath of fresh air.

  • Wow, this looks HORRIBLE.

  • I am also not a fan of the new art direction they took with this game. I mean, it looks fun, and I'd play it, but it wouldn't feel like a Goemon game at all.

  • I don't understand why Sony would turn down such a wonderful game. Just seeing the trailer makes me interested in the game and I think it would make many people interested as well.

  • Goemon sucked, Sasuke and yae however kick ass!

  • ya Sasuke and Yae FTW!!!!!

  • konami fucked up goemon he used to be good when he was tall now he looks like a fag. however i do not blame sony for not releasing this game on there system, because from what ii can see it goes against all the other goemen games

  • Don't really like the new tall goemon but i do like the new yae

  • i disagree she looks like the run in a mill video game girl now laracraft zero suite samus

guve me the cute dressed little ninja back

  • I agree. Goemon is way too young, and Yai is way to generic looking. At least they stayed faithful to Ebisimaru, and sasuke's redesign is'nt too bad.

  • yuck, can't say I'm a fan of this new tall Goemon. Gimme the N64 shorty back!

  • Wow, this game looks graphically outdated (compared to most PS2 1st gen games). No wonder Sony didn't relase on their system/.

  • the new one is retarded!!!!!!! use the old graphics then i'd play it!!!!!!!!!

  • Personally I prefer the SNES Mystical Ninja, that was the best one, they always try to go all out with the graphics when, in fact, it looked better with the more cartoony look that it had on the first game

  • don't worry goemon fans. konami redeem there selves with the Nintendo Ds incarnation, which is a great game.

  • Be greater if Konami wouldnt be such dickheads and release it to the U.S. (among some other games they have that they are being stingy about releasing)

  • you noticed that goemon doesnt even use a pipe in this game?

well, there are a few parts where hes using... A SWORD.

i could just be ridiclulously mistaken, which most likely i am...

  • why did sony never translate this?

  • because of "sub par" graphics...yeah sony is a bunch of retards I so would of bought this, graphics are more of a bonues to a game, it doesnt really matter if there good or bad as long as the gameplay and story is good.

  • Sony doesn't deserve this awesome game, Sony is gay! (well I think.....don't get mad at me!)

  • That makes no sense what so ever. If graphics don't "really matter", if they don't matter, then why doesn't Sony just release the game for the PS1 instead of the PS2? This game looks graphically comparable to Ape Escape.

  • if not they could release it for the psp.

    n_n

  • After having played to both N64 games, specially the first, I really get no feeling from this. It looks as if they had tried to merge a children's cartoon with a serious plot, neither of which go well with the Goemon series.

I must admit, though, Yae and the ninjas do look good. Then again, it's difficult not to make Yae look good!

  • Well, now that I watch it again and notice it, I should probably say I was just refering to the parts she's wearing her ninja suit (01:23 and 02:51). In the rest of the shots it's as if she was wearing an aerobics jumpsuit...

  • I adore both of Yae's outfits in this game, her whole look here is just awesome! The ninja outfit suits her better, though. I really want to play this game... I'm playing GG4 for SNES and Goemon's Great Adventure for N64 currently...

  • wow. wheres impact

  • why would konami want to turn their super popular japanese series into a serious totally not chibi game?

  • IS THIS IN THE US

  • no, because Sony never translated it and it is only avaliable in Japan

  • Lol I created Goemon on my soul calibur 3 game.

  • ok, first off, this is not goemon material, second, the n64 version is way better. why make goemon have a growth spurt? i like him really short and can you play the other 3 chracters? i like the music though in this

  • Wtf its a RPG... Goemon isnt RPG -.-

  • this fucking game kill all the sage!!!

  • it looks so shit now, the one on N64 was the best lol.

  • exactly the knobjockeys killed the brand..

  • They ruined the awesomeness of Mystical Ninja!! Goemon looks terrible! ;-;

  • agree, this game kill the saga...

    MISTICAL NINJA REST IN PEACE...

  • the one for the DS looks pretty good

goemon and ebisu-maru look the same

but i haven't seen much to it

  • yeah the ps2 one looks like crap. i have played/beat the DS one and it did revive it! the DS one isnt as good as goemons great adventure but it is very good.

  • how were the impact battles

    if there is any

  • yup there were impact battles. they were one of the best parts of the game. you get to use the DS touch screen for impact controls. the DS is region free so if you want you can get the game. its in all japanese but its not that hard to figure out and if you cant figure it out you can always use a walk through.

  • I know, why turn a super popular japanese comedy sort of game and turn it into a serious totally not chibi game

  • no they ruined it this is the end of goemon! NO!

  • that suck why let me tell you

1 goemon had a growth spurt

2 goemon uses a pipe not a kantana

    3 were was impact?

the snes and n64 ones are way better

  • I see Goemon's had a large growth spurt since his N64 days. Oh my god that looks so crap - never even knew there was a PS2 version, was it ever released in the UK?? Mystical Ninja on N64 was one of the best games I ever owned for the console but this version seems to have none of the cuteness and quirkiness that made the N64 such a delight.

  • I liked the n64 versions better, they should make a game like that for the Wii, that would be an awesome continuation for the series.

  • is it coming out

  • Why does it not look cartoony and fun like every other Goemon game?

  • I love the music. Does it have a name?

  • ok then sony fucked up on releasing this game before looking at konami

  • wow. Sony did fuck up on making this game

  • I disagree. Woking Designs, the developer, screwed up on making this. Konami should've made it, since they did make the better ones on the N64.

  • Working designs weren't the developer of this game, they were only about to translate and release it in America.

  • Oh, well if that's the case...

Oh, Konami, what have you done!?

    O_O

  • Not Konami, Working designs, they are the ones that went bankrupt on us... Well party Konami for not translating the game to English themselves.

  • it looks good animated but the original design was the best. They should continue the mystical ninja series here in america. They're still making games in japan:(

  • I haven't played this, but I love Goemon series and this title just doesn't look good at all. The graphics and gameplay seem poor, and this design of Goemon is terrible. =(
