does anyone know what these dudes are like compared to a green cheek conure? im hoping to get one soon, and im trying to find out just about EVERYTHING i can about them.
@XsoaproX as far as behavior, noise level, and the things that make up a bird's personality, they're probably the same. (they're are many variations of the green cheek conure, and this is probably one of them. I'm getting a GCC soon
@ShreddGamer14 Crimson Bellied Conures are Pyrrhura perlata while a Green Cheek Conure are Pyrrhura molinae. They are two Different species my friend. Crimson Bellied Conure's are known for their sweeter temperament, but since they are not as easy to breed they remain less common & more expensive. While even the most beautiful colour mutations of the Green Cheek Conures are becoming less expensive and easier to find.
@2TwinParrotlets Very true that they are not easy to breed as I am finding out. I consider these guys as my pets and not breeders. After 2 clutches (one failed and 2 babies from the 2nd), they are still tame and as sweet as they were before they started laying eggs. Prices are falling but still not low enough for some people.
haha I love the one you called connie lol cause it turned around instead of waving tooo cuteeee it's just doing what it thinks will get it some treats love it. Also, where did you happen to get your crimson bellies? I have a green cheek and have had some one on one time with him now for a year and was contemplating getting another conure.
@Nicky1026 I got my my pair from breeders in Maryland, I had to drive to Virginia from NC to meet them. If you can't find a local breeder, you will have to have one shipped to you. I just raised 2 babies. The last one left today via airplane.

They are really beautiful, especially the striking red feathers on their chest. It's like they are wearing a rest vest!

I think birds are easy to teach. They have an IQ of a 6-year-old, compared to a dog who has an IQ of a 2-year-old.

@Akaliko I believe chihuahuas have an IQ of a rock... Wait, I'm insulting the rock now.
