  • you can cover or re-do a song without the singer |(more importantly songwritters) permition provided you dont copywrite it.

  • If I wanted to redo this song would I have to get Baltimora's permission? And if so how can I do that when he's dead? Thank You.

  • Lol back then I did not even know this was from a real song. But I do remember loving this commercial because of the song. Thanks for the upload. Brings back memories when I was a young kid:)

    And then "Jurassic Park" dropped.

  • I miss the wrapped glass bottles....do they even make the yellow one anymore?

  • I loved this commercial as a baby, every time it would come on when i was sleeping i would pop up awake. My big sis would have to mute the T.V. just so i could get some sleep! lol!

  • Oh wow. This commercial. It made me love that tune, it got stuck in my head and I spent a long time (pre-interwebs) trying to find out what it was! Well, maybe not PRE interwebs, but i sure didn't have decent access. Anyway, I ended up finding a single of Tarzan Boy on cassette after it was used in one of the TMNT movies. WOre that thing out :)

  • yeah i remember hearing it on TMNT and immediately thought of teeth

  • you and me both!! this commercial made me want to take a tropical vacation AND have fresh breath.

  • lol, they should just keep it going....were all gonna need to break some bottles soon if the economy dont bankrupt itself.

  • lolol homeless people r funni lolol

  • Wow I remember this ad. Never new the song till now though. I decided to use the extended version of the song in one of my Alvin and the Chipmunks music videos. The song sounds so cute and funny in Chipmunk. O by the way this gets a 5/5 cause the ad was good and so is the song they picked.

  • "i love this commercial!!!! and i love tarzan boy!!!!"

  • Gingivitis!!

  • damn this takes me way back... back to when macgyver was coming on after this commercial.. lol

  • These commertials were THE BEST! It accually made me want to get listerine, now we have some dumbfuck in a suit acting like a moron, its disgracefull and ruines the appeal.

  • During the '92 Olympics there was a very similar Listerine commercial that was on all the time (same song, bottle in the jungle, etc.) I was 9 then, but still remember it very well. I loved it.

  • que webos

esos si eran comerciales cortos y chingones

  • The timeline at Pixar's website confirms that they made this video.

  • This was my favorite comercial when I was little and my second favorite commercial of all time

  • I checked and Pixar did make this

  • tastes more like my mouth burning

  • i was like 8 or 9 when this came out an i still remember it.

  • great commercial. should re-master it in 1080p with uncompressed LPCM audio and release it simultaneously on Blu-Ray and via an online medium, such as itunes.

  • oh my god... i was talkin about this video earlier today! ohh man, that video brings back memories... i just wanna cry right now lol. i remember when the original bottle did the same commercial in '91 or '92... i was 5 years old then, man i could watch this video over and over again... thanx for posting this! *kiss kiss*

  • I was so excited that Listerine FINALLY had a minty version of their mouthwash! I loved how well Listerine worked but I REALLY hated the taste. YAY for the new Cool Mint Listerine AND for the commercial AND for the song! By the way, where does it say this was made by Pixar? Just curious.

  • Makes sense Pixar made this.

  • can't believe i found this ad! always loved the music!

  • I remember this commercial, and I thought this song was wonderful, but up until about three years ago, I didn't know the name of it. Now it's one of my favorites.

  • I saw this commercial whan I was like 7 or 8.

  • Me too, Thank you so much!

  • This was like my favorite commercial in the world for some reason

  • Pixar pwns for their 3D animation!...Go Pixar!

  • how u know its pixar

  • hahaha

  • This comercial made me love that song! I'm so excited to see it on you tube.

  • Awsome

  • Oh man, I remember this commercial... sigh, nostalgia...

  • what is nostalgia?

i might have an idea. i moight be feelin it.

  • nostalgia is the feeling of being reminded of your experiences in the far past. Like playing with an old atari system would make me feel the way I did when I was 7, etc.

  • yep. every day i live it.

  • Pong, it was Pong for me when I was 8... so sad..

  • I agree with Patriciameadows. The version of the song used here is much better.

  • i think so too.

  • Thanks for posting this ad. I was a bartender at a gay bar in the '90's and we used to play the ad on the monitors every night. Great memories of drugs and sex and good times. Fun song too.

  • This commercial introduced me to Tarzan Boy, Baltimora, and Jimmy McShane. Ever since then, Tarzan Boy has been my absolute favorite song, and Baltimora/Jimmy McShane among my favorite musicians. Plus, the computer animation by Pixar was really cutting edge at the time, right up there with Jurassic Park, which came out only a few months before this. Wonderful stuff.

  • I didnt know Pixar did this. BUt this got me into Baltimora as well. Never herd of the band until I herd them say it was on the radio. NEver herd on the radio in the 80's just the earlier 90's. But this was not the only one they made?

  • Yeah, Baltimora came out with several other songs. Pretty good, but none as successful as Tarzan Boy. You can view the videos here on YouTube. As for Tarzan Boy, there are several versions; I have 19. There are several versions of Baltimora's Jimmy McShane (the original artist) performing it. However, there are also renditions by Soraya Arnelas, Atom Heart, Kidz Jamz, Chavos Lopez, Denise Lopez, Ryan Paris, and Subito.

  • But the artis are they any good as Baltimora?

  • I searched for this clip specifically to get the name of the song so I could dl it on itunes. Thanks

  • me too, weird

    i like the commercial tho

  • OMFG!! Same here. I have been looking for this commercial for 14 years!!

  • 4022 is the code number.

  • I've always loved this commercial, I love the song too cause I always think of this haha and I was 3 at the time when this was on tv. I just discovered that PIXAR the animation company did this commercial. Don't know if anyone else knew that but I thought that was pretty interesting. =)

  • I suppose they only recorded 30 seconds worth of the song to fit the commercial, but I always kinda liked this "heavier" version of the song, and wished it had been a full single. But I think this was the impetus to put "Tarzan Boy" on the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES III soundtrack, so that was a good thing.

  • I do love the sound of this chorus much more than the original by Baltimora. Like you said, it's a shame it wasn't made into a full length song. Or at least remixed in-between Baltimora's verses.

  • Why the hell does this have so many views?

Are people searching for Listerine commercials?

  • I did. It's one of my favorite commercials ever. Go figure.

  • I'm so glad they didn't reuse video footage from that Baltimora video. Jim looks like a cheap David Bowie look-a-like.

  • NO! its not just another mint mouthwash ! it can fly through jungles too like tarzan when your bored !

  • This commercial made a great story for my 5th graders about how they have things today that I didn't as a kid...thank you listerine for this awesome commercial!

  • This was one of the coolest commercial ever! The song is what made me turn my head (hearing it from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and then was blown away by the awesome graphics.

  • That CG was awesome back in the day!

  • I remember this! This commercial was awesome.

  • Back when Pixar had to pay the bills!

  • This is awesome.

  • great! love the song too. the animation was ahead of it's time for a commercial.

  • Too bad Jim McShane (Baltimora) won't be worth anymore (to some people) than a listerine commercial. Which ironically came out two years before he died. He deserves alot more credit than that!!

  • También en Venezuela en 1993 se transmitió ese comercial!!!! los recuerdo el original y la versión venezolana pues lo vi la primera vez que fuí a USA y cuando regresé vi que era casi exactamente lo mismo!!! solo que en Español! :D

  • Wasn't there another one where the bottle is dressed up as robin hood?? I swear I could remember another version.

  • Yes there was...I also remember one where the bottle had a sword and shield....

  • Awesome. When this commercial came out, it was the coolest I had ever seen.

  • yay! thanks jsrambler. This was the first ad that ever made my go out and buy something.
