  • Hi Dave, what neck knife are you using.

  • maybe the bait is towards to front of the trap so the animal is hit by the front, faster moving end of the rock?

Also, could you make this much bigger, like with a tree trunk, and use the string as a trip wire accross a path, and trap much larger animals with the same system?

for instance with a pine tree trunk, carving the branches in spikes. It'd be like a huge spiked club, primed to fall on the prey when it walks through the path.

  • Hi Dave, if the trap is that sensitive with the two trip wires - it looks like you could use it as blind trap on game trails for rabbits and the like

  • Dave, would the bait in the front have not only the weight of the rock on the game , but the gravity fed blunt force, where as the bait in the back would only have the weight of the rock. The force of the rock would be more on the outside because that part of the rock would be higher off the ground.Pythagorean and gravity. Kinda like hitting a fly with the palm three inches off the table as opposed to six inches.

  • @TheMojavegreen1 This was my question too!

  • I had a dog once like that i named it Deoge. Good dog, very good hunter of any thing cridder like.

  • this is my dog, its name is dog... lol awesome videos :)

  • I like your dog, dog!!

  • Comment removed

  • that deadfall device in this case can still be a heavy log, or maybe another heavy object?

  • sweet vid i will definetly ad this to my taping skills but the pat i love the most about this vid is Dave, saying this is my dog his name is dog. short simple and to the point . K.I.S.S. keep it simple stupid.

  • Awesome trigger setup Bro! Good to see you back on here making vids again.

  • Random doggage 6:04

  • Great trap with the trigger mod. I'm wondering - could the deadfall be replaced with something spring-loaded? I mean, with one more piece of cordage and some thicker boughs, it could easily be made into a small-critter getter. I don't know if I explained that very well..

  • very well done.

  • His name is, dog... love it!

  • Love the traps Dave. These latest are so simple and quick to make. I'd imagine logs can be substituted for the rocks too.

  • You can also get your camera in that fine tuned trap very easily :D

  • Is that an Izula or BK-14 kneck knife your wearing?

  • It would seem to me that the ideal placement of the bait is somewhere in the middle of the deadfall. If you put it all the way at the back to make sure the animal is under it, it might not have far enough to fall to actually kill the animal.

  • Dave is there going to be a Season 3 of Dual Survival?

  • Hey Dave I have a Question.. Would the frog, or bait hanging on the trigger string not set the trap off by pulling on the pronontory peg? Just a thought.

  • Dave: with that new tat on your right arm you can never get divorced. LOL

  • Thanks so much for posting these vids - I really like this trap and intend to try it out this summer - along with a couple of other ideas I have gleaned from your videos.

  • So lock in a tooth pick sized stick only longer and u won't need cord I realy like this trigger all kinds of options

  • Dave, That's a great point! I think you've got that nailed! I'm giving this a shot!! Thanks for sharing!

  • really cool setup man will try it with some fishing line and see how it goes because if it works i can get much more traps for really lightweight

    Great help thanks

    Greetings from Portugal =D

  • This is awesome!!! Thanks for sharing Dave!

  • This is my dog by the way... it's name is dog! xDDD Dave, you're awesome!

  • Great trap mod man!

  • Thanks Dave, once again! Wish I was there with you to get first hand experience. All my best....(and hope the arm laceration healed up well...and then the burn to close the wound that followed)! In my thoughts...

  • As usual Dave, very well done. I love the improvement you've made here. This will be my new 'first choice'. Thanks for everything you do, brother. Love you vids. And this is a much better camera too. Love it alot. God bless!

  • that is absolutely awesome ! goes to show ....improvements can always be made on just about anything once you have the basics down. Thank you for the info.

    Tim

  • Great trap mod Dave, I like it!

  • lol "dog"

  • @wildernssoutfitters Seriously Dave you've turned something hundreds if not thousands of years old that was good into some brilliant!

I hope people understand how much time and calories you've saved them armed with this knowledge. Again simple, brilliant, genius

Good thinker, need more people like you out there!

  • I've had no time for the prom peg but now, you've opened a whole new world to it! you should get a Nobel prize or something for that. Genius!!!!

    Love it

  • watching it with headsets. @ 6:18 a fly buzzed by my ear. I turned around.

    LOL

  • Makes so much sense the way you show it, thank you!

  • Dave any ideas on how to keep cats out of a vegetable garden at night? Cat shit just don't work not to mention digging up plants when they cover it up. Dam, we could always eat the thing after we skin it. But then again a big dog would do a good job on it also. LOL Hey great programs you and Cody do for us. Whey the TSHTF we should be able to survive when it's time to bugout. You should carry thongs for Cody when he tears up his feet, yeah thongs were what they were called. later brother!

  • Omg dude when I saw dual survival I was like wait I seen you on youtube..very impressed at your show dude keep it up :)

  • Very cool Dave!

Thank you for all your hard work.

    Awesome trap!

  • @bigbob6556 Yea the animal will run towards the front of the trap ,but it will better if the bait was in the middle of the trap because if the animal is more towards the front the more force it's going to get hit by

  • If you put the bait more to the back of the trap the less force will hit the animal which will mean that the animal will still be alive after getting hit by the trapthe trap

  • @mannycires Well, you have to take into consideration, there is going to be a split second where the animal is going to try and get out, and if they run back towards where they came in, it will land directly on them.

  • doesn't get much better than that

  • Awww, so cute. More videos with the pup Dave!

Thank you for spending your time to teach us stuff like this.

  • Real cool!

  • Good idea. Thanks Dave!

  • much better.

  • good info as always. thanks for all you do

  • Never name anything you might have to eat

  • I know its a hassle to answer all these comments but what brand of pants are those?

  • @SniperCountry96 Rail Riders

  • @wildernessoutfitters I know you have been wearing Rail Riders for a long time, I'd appreciate your thoughts on which of their clothes you have tried and which ones you prefer. I've been thinking about getting a pair of their VersaTac pants, but now sure which weight of fabric. I'd prefer to go with the ultra-light, but wasn't sure how well they would hold up.

  • Nice video Dave. I would like to add that this trap can be modified even more to make it a killing trap. a slightly curved bait stick that is sharpened to a fine point is used, the idea is that the stick also serves as a spike to stab with.

  • hey your on dual survive l!!!!!!

  • I am new to trapping. So i have what might be a dumb question. When you use a dead fall does it spoil the meat at all? If you set it up one evening and then check on it the next day will the meat still be good if the insides get crushed. I have only been hunting never tried eating anything that has been trapped.

  • so if your DOG gets lost and you go to the pound you ask have you seen my dog lol

  • How do you make a promontory peg and why doesn't it break after it bends so many times. I love your common sense genius and I hope you keep the videos coming.

  • @wildernessoutfitters what neck knife are you wearing

  • Hey Dave, cool video, what do you carry on your carabiner there?

  • can you make a playlist of all the trap videos?

  • great video as per Dave :)

  • subscribed ftw

  • @wildernessoutfitters

hey dave whats the weight rule for dead fall traps isient it like 5/1 or something like that

  • @strhunter666 yes brother 5/1

  • @wildernessoutfitters I always learned that the weight must be at least 3 times to weight of the animal you are trying to kill.

  • Great video, Dave. I'm going to try that. Have a blessed week. John

  • it looks like it suprised you alittle bit dave.

  • Hey Dave what if ya placed a stick between the two trigger sticks and put your bait on that?

  • @SilentWolf1966 That would work but I have done that before and it becomes a pain to set the trap.

  • @wildernessoutfitters Yea just tried it and your right its a pain ....lol.

  • i like it!

  • Is this a new camera? The video looks great. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.

  • @GrimLP It is Canon G12 shooting 1080HD

  • Excellent trap! So simple, so easy. Thanks dave.

  • Digging it Dave, another tol for the tool box, ah the the practicing..thanks bro!

  • I like the name of your pet!

  • dave ...thanks for sharing...jimbo from mississippi

  • hello dave,im a new subscriber so i havent seen all your awsome videos but anyways can you have cody as a special guest on a video.

  • nice..even I could eat with that trap

  • that mosquito at 6:17 scared the hell out of me. nice video as allways, Dave.

  • @GoingSkateboarding xDDDDDD Same as me lol

  • very simplistic

    i like it

  • sweet dave... you are a mastermind or more like mastersurviver... cant wait for shark week and the fall gathering was coming this june but i had some knee problems and hopfully i can get to the gathering before surgery!

  • ok thanks for letting us know keep up the great work you guys r awesome

  • Did you really name your dog, Dog?

  • @widerstand No JK, her name is Pearl.

  • @wildernessoutfitters my friend named his dog Dee-O-Gee...think about it

  • @wildernessoutfitters hey man, where are you in these videos? Like what state.

  • @IShoNoHonor He is based in Ohio, too bad North Carolina is "First in Flight"

  • hei dave, seen all your dual survivor eps. and love them. i have to say i find you alot more relaxed in these videos :) probably since you're not in a dangerous setting. just wondering how to prepare a bird, and are they usually safe to eat (bacteria, viruses Etc.) thanks man

  • @dslme123 All birds are edible, palatable is a different story, scavenger type birds require lots of Heat to kill parasites internally.

  • @wildernessoutfitters hey thanks man appreciate it ;) i'll continue to watch your videos til you run out of ideas (which you won't)

  • can you show us how to make the scissor trap that was on dual survival plz we watch all your shows faithfully you never know when you r gonna need to know this stuff

  • @physcofreak2012 I could do a vid on this but I have known about this trap since 2009 and choose not to because I believe it is more work and calories spent than necassary to catch small game, it requires alot of cordage and set up time to be effective.

  • yes god point indeed

  • awsme dave you realy push the envlope it tweeking desinges for difrent situations . 1ST :)
