I agree the Toyota has a lesser interior build quality than the other 2, but its quiet and gets back and forth with ease. Resale value is also excellent, sorry Mazda.

Just went out with my girlfriend to buy a new car and she picked the Mazda3. She loved the look, how it felt to drive, the audio contols on the steering wheel, and we got it for a good price. I liked the fact that it felt like a solid car (unlike some small cars that feel like they're cheaply made) and the look and handling of it. I also liked the split back seats that fold down in case you need extra trunk space for longer items. Very happy with the Mazda 3.

I have an 07 Mazda 3 GT, and when I was shopping back in early 07, civic and corolla did not even OFFER some of the features on my 3 at any price. Like back then you could not get leather seating or xenon headlights/LED taillights in a civic (they have since come out with an EX-L trim level that has some more of the niceties from what I've heard). And the same with my traction control and stability control, which were not available at all on any corolla back then.

@YelloPhase mazda 3 base model a few years ago was 9,995$. Now the base model for a mazda 3 is 16,295$, probably because they came out with the mazda 2 which costs 13,995. You add shipping and handling + taxes + what ever other fees are included and its around 20k.
@samalia101 nah the base model mz3 was never 10k, the msrp of my loaded 2008 sedan was around $19k. you just gotta know how much lower u can get it down. it always helps to go to certain dealerships with much more inventory than smaller ones.

I actually love my 2010 Corolla, I love the interior, comfort and the riding height. Mazda is too ugly in my eyes, Civic is too low to the ground and the two tier dash along with the Tron gauges annoys me.

i drive a civic and love it and am pretty sure it could last 200,000 miles with the right care. It is a little boring on the drive and power but it definitely gets the job done smoothly. If Mazda could up its reliability and mass appeal, the whole "drivers choice" marketing could take off
Corolla is boring, Civic is very competent but rides soft (good if you like soft), the 3 is for people like me that want something economical but still like to attack an on ramp. Yes I drive a 3, it does not fail to make me grin on a daily basis.
The Si is the one if you want the best handling. The other Civics might not be as stiff but the ride is probably better. Honda has a Civic for everyone

The last generation civic was a 1.7L non-VTEC D17 SOHC motor making 117 HP. The current generation is an R18A1 1.8L SOHC VTEC making 140hp. How is that not an improvement? It's faster than the Corolla. Their VTEC system is good, they revolutionized variable valve timing, which is why they brag about it, unlike Mazda's rotary shit that they invented which flopped.
My only real complaint with the Corolla is that the trans' highest gear is still too low. I'm getting 33mpg mixed,but I'm sure I could push some electric car's mpg had the Corolla had a better roll.

@tubegangsta I have a silver "s" and it has a smooth ride-people notice,the sears are comfortable,it gets the best MPG of its class. And if you like Mazda,and Hundai and American...look at the newspaper and see how much the devalue over just two years...off a cliff with some.
And I like the sunroof-its cool. Downside-the radio tuner is a bit weak,and the interior is all you need-it just looks all functional not really swoopy.
A real positive is that engine..it revs like crazy,

I also have a 93 toyota pickup with 140k miles that i beat the shit out of that still runs perfect. And i have a 08 Civic Si and a 99 Mitsubishi Montero Sport LTD.

The Si is the one if you want the best handling. The other Civics might not be as stiff but the ride is probably better. Honda has a Civic for everyone

I'm not sure why sourjer says he /she just like the Corolla for reliabilty-because it rates highest in ride too. Highest in MPG, way up there with safety. And you know,park it next to that small Lexus,and you can hardly tell the difference. Just half the price.
The styling is sharp. Get the sunroof!

I have seen many reviews and almost all choose honda over the competition. I am current looking for a new car and the in most reviews honda wins in reliability fuel cons luxury features and value for money. what else could an every day driver need?

@sourjerer Thye will win and always win. why you may ask? well its best rated for crash tests, its has plenty of room in the front and the Back, great handling, luxurious design, and it also looks better. i bought a used 06 civic with 40,000 miles and it felt like new, it has 75,000 now and it still feels like new!!

Well as stated in my previous comment, i want reliability and stability. in this segment the corolla shines brightest.. We have a 2000 corolla its running until this day the only thing that I did to it was change the batteries, engines runs smoothly like it was new.. God Bless

@djkasdjkasdjdjdj Haha, and where are you getting this information from? Honda resdesigns their cars every 4 years, inside and out. The last generation civic was a 1.7L non-VTEC D17 SOHC motor making 117 HP. The current generation is an R18A1 1.8L SOHC VTEC making 140hp. How is that not an improvement? It's faster than the Corolla. Their VTEC system is good, they revolutionized variable valve timing, which is why they brag about it, unlike Mazda's rotary shit that they invented which flopped.

My only real complaint with the Corolla is that the trans' highest gear is still too low. I'm getting 33mpg mixed,but I'm sure I could push some electric car's mpg had the Corolla had a better roll.

BS! the Toyota has best mpg,best ride,and Toyota great resale...while selling less new than Honda. Even insurance is best with Toyota in case of a total wreck.
Buy Mazda and watch it depreciate by the minute....buy Honda and pay more for less MPG and rough ride...

@zjumps33 I'm getting older-and a sharp looking silver Corolla S beats a hard sporty ride. And btw,those propblems with steering were cured by late 2010 models..no problems with highway tracking at all.

@tubegangsta I have a silver "s" and it has a smooth ride-people notice,the sears are comfortable,it gets the best MPG of its class. And if you like Mazda,and Hundai and American...look at the newspaper and see how much the devalue over just two years...off a cliff with some.
And I like the sunroof-its cool. Downside-the radio tuner is a bit weak,and the interior is all you need-it just looks all functional not really swoopy.
A real positive is that engine..it revs like crazy,

GottfriedvonCramm mazdas are rated very high in reliability. Ive had a Grey 2006 Mazda3 GT Hatchback since 2006, and ive never had any problems with it. My favourate car! :D

Mazda was CLEARLY the winner here.... i think the civic won because it looks like an older person's vehicle, and most of the people there were older... im sure every1 agrees that the Mazda is the best looking HANDS DOWN, and i wouldnt even consider buying a toyota.... Cant get any uglier/cheaper looking than that. mazda is the best looking, funnest to drive, has nicest interior, and is JUST as practicle as the honda civic.

the corolla is bland as a glass of milk, but has not the same trim as the honda.
the honda is way too "priused", got no looks, too sharpy.
And the mazda 3 is quite nice, after all, is a ford focus, nice chassis but european reliability.
I´ll keep the toyota any time, has better resale value and balance.
after all, they are all cheap cars, arent they?
I you want more character buy an expensier car, thats it.

I like every one has there preference with out actually TESTING all these cars on a track like edmunds test. I personally would listen to edmunds before some troll who has never tested all these cars with not parameters except the old "CIVIC RULES BECAUSE I KNOW".. WHAT A JOKE. @saboobuu My dads 92 tercel had 190,000 miles on it, was running perfect, but he needed a truck for work, so we sold it and got a 94 Toyota pickup that currently has 215,000 miles on it and still running perfect. We also have a beater 89 Camry with 293,000 miles and it also runs perfect and the cruise still works. lol.
I also have a 93 toyota pickup with 140k miles that i beat the shit out of that still runs perfect. And i have a 08 Civic Si and a 99 Mitsubishi Montero Sport LTD.

I have friends who own corollas and now consider buying a civic. btw i have a 2009 civic sedan and its definitely a head turner ..
