hey, I love the beatles as much as any other sensible person, but I have to say Ray Davies is just as great as John Lennon. I'd have a hard time settling on who is better.
I'm sure you KInks fans have heard the story of Lennon sittin in the pub playing 'Wonderboy' over and over on the juke box. His favorite kinks song.
Just as I revisit many songs from time to time, here I am, once more a year later, back for another dose of such a great song from an album chocked full of great songs.
With regard to your comment, "Ray Davies is just a great as John Lennon," and your issues deciding who is the better of the two, with all due respect, perhaps thay can be equally admired for all the great music and lyrics thay've gave us.
am still learning new things about the kinks after discovering them 14years ago. too bad they got eclipsed by the beatles when their a little bit better,
Did I heared ok? He said this is a song from my new album, and what about our new album. As I know the kinks were a band of more than one member. Am I wrong?
Wjhen this album was released in '77, I immediately purchased it, waiting to hear many of the dongs on the radio.
But, really, was I surprised to not hear them?
No, it seems we were still trying to survive the hangover of disco, and even the people who should have been listening for a way out (Record Exec's or "The suits") were deaf and blind to this masterpiece album:"Sleepwalker."
Just one of the so many hidden and over looked gems from the Kinks that the general radio and music listening public never hear from the Kinks. The kinKs the greatest under rated and over looked band of all time! God save the Kinks and all their fans who have supported them through the years! And for all we know they still might have a way to go. - Frank Lima, The Montvale, New Jersey Hillbilly Boy aka Dan the Fan

I feel it.
Do you feel it?
Can you feel it?
Feels like we're in for a stormy night,
But I can't see a cloud in sight.

anyone know WHO the backup singing ladies are? they are excellent!

Ok, they arent better than the Beatles. Lets not go too far. However they are better than the Stones hands down.

@driteon i think they are better.. longevity matters as does total quality in each album.

I'll go that far and say they're better than the Beatles!
The Beatles were really overrated and you know it; haha.

This song is enough to make you melt. When I was young, I used to close my eyes and pretend Ray was singing this to me. . . . Oh wait.... I still do!

At the start of the clip I love the way Mick Avory winks at the new bass player, who then looks nervously at the camera - classic.

Beautifully played, beautifully sung. Perfection. Amazing texture with Dave's masterful lead, the keyboard (Rhodes?) sounds, female vox, MA's great drum fills, and, of course, Ray's guitar and voice. Perfect.

Yes another overlooked gem. Such a pretty, soulful song. Should have been a "classic", should have been covered by many.
