Honestly, I watched some episodes of Skins US (and with the exception of the horrid first episode) it was... okay. I didn't think it was good or bad. (But maybe I'm biased because I've watched the UK version since the first series.)

I genuinely believe that Skins US would have been a bigger hit if it had been aired on a different channel like Showtime or HBO (or even FX or something), and if the first episode hadn't been a carbon copy of the UK version.That immediately turned tons of people off.

UK version is better but I actually liked the US version a lot too. The characters broke off into their own story lines towards the middle of the season and it wasn't copying the UK version quite as closely after a few episodes. I think the show was too provocative to be successful in the US. They should have made the American version about College students. If the characters were at least 18 maybe then parents wouldn't have been so offended?
