  • As an American, why the hell does this sound so familiar? I think I remember singing a version of this in grade school.

  • @mrceebees14 its the same tune as God Save The Queen (The British National anthem) but was originally the Imperial German Empires national anthem but since the Kaizer was queen Victoria's son its no suprise they shared the same anthem. (why would an american be singing God Save The Queen in grade school:) )

  • @spok74able I have no idea, but I specifically remember it and we are talking over 30 years ago.

  • this was one of the best countries to live in, until it was dragged in to the war by the austro-hungarians

  • For those that are comparing UK and German anthems. Well it was the same Royal family.

The Kaiser of Germany, King/Emporer or British Empire and Tsar of Russia were all cousins. They were all grandsons of Queen Victoria.

King of UK and Tsar of Russia were very close and King of UK was shocked when his good pal was killed in the Russian Revolution

How the anthems sounds the same? no clue why

  • God how I wish the Zimmerman telegram made it to mexico

  • @bigmathafaka That would have been very helpful

  • Its sounds like the Germans are singing the British anthem...during World War I....

am I really this high?! O_O

  • But the music is also the UK national anthem, well it is here in the UK. Was vaguely aware there were other versions. Very odd to hear the old enemy singing it.

  • Go Serbia!

  • @Southpark124 millions of people died because of serbia, and another milliones died in the second world war just because of it!

  • this is what we would be singing this christmas if red edd was priminister, thank god cameron found out he had got a pair of bollocks last week, when he stood up to amy turtle and nicolo sarcastic. rule britannia god save the pound.

  • the kaiser was terrible

  • Heil the Kaiser

  • The Kaiser's speech to departing troops in August 1914 -

"You will be home before the leaves have fallen from the trees."

  • Dislike Hitler! Love Germany and Its People!

  • Fratricidal war.

  • This YouTube video is used in Europeana’s first interactive film. The story about the unusual friendship between Otto and Bernard in the First World War is turned into a truly rich en new experience by using HTML5 and popcorn.js. You can watch the film here: remix.europeana.eu

  • Should return to the days of Empire

  • HEIL GERMANY!!!

  • Why did they copy the british anthem?

  • @RowanSIG They didn't as far as i know the british national anthem used today was brought to britian when king george the 1st from hannover attained the throne, it is a prussian anthem.

  • @RowanSIG why did they copy the german anthem ^^

  • es lebe das deutsche reich

  • If the German monarchy survived WW1, thus preventing WW2; Europe would probably still be the power centre of the World.

  • Hmmm... this is like sort of piss take of God save the queen isn't it?!?! otherwise the similarities are just disgusting!

  • @XxGREATxBRITAINxX Why? tell me why.

  • I wish the German Empire lasted longer. Maybe then we wouldn't have had World War 2.

    Heil der Kaiser!

  • Heil dir im Siegerkranz,

    Herrscher des Vaterlands!

    Heil, Kaiser, dir!

    Fühl in des Thrones Glanz

    Die hohe Wonne ganz,

    Liebling des Volks zu sein!

    Heil Kaiser, dir!

  • if only america helped germany they would have been victorius

  • @TheROADRUNNER36 IF GERMANY (HITLER) DID NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AS FRANCE (NAPOLEON BONAPARTE) THAN GERMANY COULD HAVE CERTAINLY MAINTAIN GROUND AGAINST USSR (STALIN) & AMERICA (ROOSEVELT).

  • @Colombiani in ww1

  • @TheROADRUNNER36 sorry my bad.

  • @T If only America kept out of WW1, there would have been, most likely, no Victory for anybody, as all Nations were collapsing under the War-Efforts, leading to a Peace all Sides could agree with. The illadviced Peace after WW1 was, essentially the Foundation and Reason for sthe second War 20 years later, which killed so many People, destoyed so much History and Culture etc.

  • Gott erhalte der Deutscher Reich! Gott erhalte der Deutscher Kaiser!

  • IT WOULD'VE NEVER ENTERED TRENCH WARFARE, HAD THE KAISER NOT TOUCHED THE RIGHT ARM!!!! also Germany would've knocked France out........so i guess it's all Kaiser Wilhelm's fault...

  • @t11296 the melody of God save the Queen or King I suppose as Edward VII was on throne then, was also used in Germany and USA with diff lyrics during ww-1. Although Hail Columbia was slightly more popular as US Anthem. We didn't have an official one until 35. Congress thought it was too royalist to have one. As if

  • WTF this is my national anthem!

  • @t1t296 No it's not.

  • @barricader6 its in the tune of it

  • @t1t296

if you are American it is not, we do have my country tis of thee but our national anthem is the one that goes "oh say can you see..."

  • @t1t296 Yeah I think the British one came first (?) and certainly many other countries followed suit, often using the same tune to start with. There are therefore some very odd-sounding versions of "God save the Queen" in existence from earlier centuries :)

  • @mcgigglish It is unknown, who made this tune, but the melody is probably from a frenchman, i forgot his name.

  • my greatgrandfather was an austrohungarian soldier in the Italian front

  • @kukuleleful

What a hero to fight these traitors

  • @LotrFC hehe thanks

  • @kukuleleful did he survive the war?

  • @ChaNo1908

The german kaiser have nothing to do with hitler or national socialism. You're pathetic!

  • My great grandfather was a soldier in the German Army, but he died in the trenches. (and just for those stupid people, germans in ww1 were NOT nazis)

  • @TheMadMoravian German Empire fights on two fronts in europe, sent soldier to Ottoman Empire, defend colonies in Africa; wherelse Americans stood coward and only join the war when they knew they can easily won.

    Can even Obama answer that!!!

  • @rafiqfacist the USA didnt want to join in the war at the beginning, they joined the war because they borrow money to the antante

  • @TheMadMoravian you must be proud of it, he was probably a brave men

  • @TheMadMoravian Fuck your granpa!

  • @PartizanFans *great* grandpa

  • @TheMadMoravian My great granpa 4 participated in the battle against the Austro Hungarian army, and later against the German

    VIVA SERBIA!

  • @PartizanFans I'm actually Czech so the fact he fought for Germany isn't so nice, but he did his 'duty' and died.

  • @TheMadMoravian 4 thousand Czech vojnikak oji were in the Austro Hungarian army of surrendered to the Serbian command!

  • @PartizanFans The First World War is long over buddy, no need to be angry at the descendants of the soldiers who fought in this terrible war.

  • Was the first clip with the kaiser walking onto a balcony, from a film or real footage?

  • @PrincePrimeval i would say for that to be real

  • @PrincePrimeval hmm, if its real than it god damb good camera for 1918

  • Fur das VATERLAND!

  • Deutschland never ceases to amaze me

    Heil The Fatherland

  • WE GARB OURSELVES IN RIDICULOUS CLOTHES TO KILL PERFECT STRANGERS , WHY? TO CONSOLE A MAN FOR HIS WITHERED ARM. WE EVEN MARCH TO THE SAME BANAL TUNE

  • i really wish Hermann Goering had been killed in ww1.

  • @slim77k Jawohl! He is a pretty stupid fuck so i would agree with you

  • Whats name of soundtrack? IS such beuty! Amazing God Bless German Fatherland!

  • god save the queen....wow

  • @brettsworld99 Queen Victoria, was his Grandmother. Go to Windsor castle and you will see a 3m high painting of Wilhelm II as a british navy admiral. Because he was too a leading british admiral.

  • this sounds like the anthem of the royal canadian kilted yaksmen!!!!!!!!!!

  • really good

  • Es lebe Deutsches Kaiserreich!!!

  • wait that sounds like god save the queen lol??

  • @watchman1066 and my country tis of the lol

  • @watchman1066 Indeed, but ironically, ive heard that a german man made the music, and the Americans, English, and Germans adopted it to their own anthems.

  • @TheGamer2604 Originally, this anthem has been composed to celebrate the successful recovery of Louis XIV from a severe fistula. The name in french is « Grand Dieu sauve le Roi ». At this time, James II , pretender of the English throne, had to abdicate and to flee to France (too catholic and pro-french). It's only in 1745, when James III, son of James II tried to take the power that this song appeared on the British soil. It's said that it was sung by the Hanovrians as a provocation.

  • @watchman1066 Just about every European country used a song similar to God save the queen at some point.

  • Deutsche steht zusammen in diesen schweren Zeiten. Es wird wieder aufwärts gehen, nur wann...???

  • Interesting that it shows the coranation of wilhelm the second then german soldiers loading up trains. Its to bad his father did not live longer. He was a great Kaiser. Willy 2 was the George W Bush of his day. WWI should be WWS... world wide stupidity

  • Some very rare footages

  • I like the sentiment but I think we should be careful about glorifying WWI. It was a dark, hellish stain on the Empire's history and led to its downfall.

  • a waste of generations....yes
