@mrceebees14 its the same tune as God Save The Queen (The British National anthem) but was originally the Imperial German Empires national anthem but since the Kaizer was queen Victoria's son its no suprise they shared the same anthem. (why would an american be singing God Save The Queen in grade school:) )

For those that are comparing UK and German anthems. Well it was the same Royal family.

The Kaiser of Germany, King/Emporer or British Empire and Tsar of Russia were all cousins. They were all grandsons of Queen Victoria.

Although Hail Columbia was slightly more popular as US Anthem. We didn't have an official one until 35. Congress thought it was too royalist to have one. As if

At this time, James II , pretender of the English throne, had to abdicate and to flee to France (too catholic and pro-french).
