@spitfire209 He kinda did, in that he had surgery to remove vocal nodes and to keep any semblance of a singing voice, he had to change the way he sung. And really, singing the way he did for ten years, it's a miracle he has a voice at all.
I know this comment is 8 months old, but I just saw it now. I'm almost 100% sure that Claudio never had throat surgery. He just has acid reflux which prevents him from hitting his upper register effectively sometimes.
You're thinking of M. Shadows from Avenged Sevenfold. They did tour with Coheed a while a while ago, though.
